Not what I expected

We were the only ones there for the most part. Every night there would be a few cars that drive through, but they didn’t stay. Bring yellow jacket traps - there’s a reason it’s named beehive

Siteno site number - in the far back

Bees!

It’s likely that the heat draws the bees out, so you may have a different experience other times of the year. The bees made this incredible location no longer worth it.

This place was aptly named

I didn't put two and two together. Woke up to the BIGGEST swarm of wasps circling our fireplace and trying to make a nest in our fender. Be very careful with putting all your cookware away and completely burn your used paper towels. We went during a no burn period, so we were out of luck and ran out of camp.

Beautiful

Wonderful boondocking! We went early May 2024. The lake was full and the campground was empty. Absolutely perfect. Little to no cell signal from Verizon or Tmobile. No hookups. No designated spots. Porta potties were just dropped off.

Beautiful and Quiet Place

This place is a hidden gem! Super close to i5 and east to find. There’s tons of campgrounds and plenty of open space to camp where you want. Fairly flat in most areas but can definitely be hard to get deep into the site without 4 wheel drive. Will definitely be coming back if I get the chance to! Beware of weather, as I went in the fall and it was freezing during the night.

Great Location With Caution

This was a nice short distance away from the i5. Great view of greenery and lake and the night stars. If you happen to have pets be cautious there is a lot of broken glass everywhere, my dog had several cuts on her pads.

BeeHive

Love camping here. Waterfront camping. There are toilets only. No showers. If you camp here make sure to get your fire permit. Other then that it’s a great location. Bring some type of shade so you can hang by the lake and be shaded. Watch out for poison oak. There is some here and there.

Beautiful location, noisy neighbors.

Stayed in early July. Very beautiful site right on the water making it a good place to swim.

Unfortunately, it was crowded and my neighbors were noisy all during the night making it hard to sleep. From reading other reviews, it sounds like that isnt always the case. Its so pretty here so I'd still reccomend trying to come here but look for a spot far away from others. Wish I stayed on the left side where there was less space and less ppl.

Beautiful spot!

This spot is so incredibly scenic for a free campsite. Camp right on the lake/river. We stayed on a Thursday night until Friday morning and there were only a few other people there, we could see any of them from our spot so we felt totally isolated. High clearance helps to get to some spots but we did make it all the way through with our minivan after a little trial and error. Had like 1 bar of spotty service only enough for maybe a phone call (Verizon). Very hot during the day, not chilly at night but cool enough to tent camp and enjoy a fire. The kids loved playing and swimming in the river. One star off because there is quite a bit of trash at the entrance of this place, lots of broken glass so keep your shoes on, and the mosquitoes were bad when the sun started to go down but wasn’t a problem with a fire, thermacel and bug spray. Don’t forget to get a CA fire permit if you want a fire or to use a camping stove it only takes a few mins to obtain online

Quiet and Secluded

No services, no designated campsites, just find a spot and camp. Pack in-out. No toilets. No pavement. Wonderfully secluded for adventurers.

Beautiful and Quiet

We stayed here for 4 nights mid week in early May and mostly had the whole place to ourselves. There were a few day use visitors, and 2 neighbors who stayed one night each. Overall a very quiet and peaceful place.

There was a sign on the boards stating that it is currently off season and there are no fees and no services. Not sure when the season begins and what services are offered, but in early May there were no garbage bins or toilets and no amenities other than rock fire pits which are hopefully more for marking individual spots rather than actual fires, since fire danger is always high in this area and it was windy several days during our stay.

If there were a lot of people staying here I think there would be no problem finding a spot. There are so many spots out along the open where the water line used to be, as well as several spots in the shaded area among the trees.

The ATT phone was able to browse the internet and stream video, the Verizon phone could only send texts with an occasional notification coming through. With the cell booster on the Verizon phone had full LTE bars and could stream, download, etc.

The water is really, really low at this time. :( It is possible to climb down to the water, and there is a boat ramp a bit further up, so there were boats in the water when we were here.

Overall we really enjoyed our time here. Easy access from Hwy 5, though the last bit of road gets really winding and narrow.

Parking on the Moon

This is an off-season review. Late October 2020. Pros: No one else here on a Friday night, easy to find, dispersed camping, no fee, some cell service. Cons: absolutely no services (they remove porta potty and trash after high season), water level in lake VERY low.
Nothing special but we were happy to spend a quiet night here on our long drive south from PNW to LA when most campsites were full or closed (fires and Covid).

One of our favorite spots

Beehive point offers camping right on the waters of Shasta Lake and has absolutely amazing views. We have been up there a few times and it has rarely been busy. Depending on the water level real estate on the beach can get tight, but there are spots off the beach that are wooded. You can tent camp or bring your travel trailer. The entrance is a little rutted so if you bring a trailer just be cautious. the beach has a ton of drift wood for fires, we have yet to bring our own. There are some small stores and boat launches near by.
