Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

    Bonelli Bluffs

    Hidden Gem

I loved this place, this hidden gem is located in the in the middle of the city, with the feel of the outdoor. Lots of trees, biking and hiking trails, fishing area, beautiful views, very peaceful, family friendly, pet friendly, the C9 RV spot was very spacious, I also liked the A & B area. Not every site has a fire pit. Definitely coming back again.

    Pechanga RV Resort

This Is A Resort With All Amenities

I spent a few nights using my Passport America discount at Pechanga RV Resort. I really liked it there. This is now one of my favorite RV resorts in California except for the showers. It is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that The park itself is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that is fenced in with gazebo, and picnic tables. First of all, it is part of the Casino with entertainment and restaurants. This casino reminds me of the Vegas casinos and now is under construction to make it a real Vegas Style Resort. It’s going to be finished sometimes in 2017.

The RV resort itself has a nice heated pool, Jacuzzi, ping pong table. They also have a golf club which could be important for some. One thing I hated is the showers. The RV resort shower has a timer set to 25 seconds and the showerhead is not able to stand upright. So you basically have to hold the shower in one hand and keep pressing the timer every 25 seconds. It’s December, it’s cold in the shower, especially because the water keeps shutting off. You end up standing soaking wet putting soap on yourself in the cold.

I wonder if the hotel rooms have timer on the showers as well. The person who came up with this idea should take showers in there each night. It pet-friendly resort, they also have an area for dogs. If you heading to the casino, they have a shuttle service 24/7 which picks ups from and drop-offs to and from your space. You have to call a number and they are there to pick you up in minutes.

About the WiFi! It’s the best WiFi ever in any parks I’ve so far visited! I wasn’t even close to the main building and had a great reception. I am able to use my Roku to watch Netflix and can use my laptop as well for work. I didn’t even need my Sprint or Verizon, but both work fine. Across the street, there is a 2-mile bike/walk trail. Using this and riding around the nice neighborhoods it was a fun way to get some exercise.

    Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground

    Bolsa Chica State Beach

The 4 stars is primarily for location. This is essentially a parking lot with power and water. We had a beach front space (B035) with a decent sized palm tree. The only one I really saw. The spaces aren’t huge so if you have a big rig or large trailer it will be tight. Most trailers parked their tow vehicle perpendicular to the space and some barely fit. There is no privacy, the small concrete area is shared with your neighbors as is the entrance to the beach side. People watching at the boardwalk is amazing. There is live music at the beach bars nearby which was cool. Definitely bring bike. There isn’t a lot within walking distance but downtown Huntington Beach and the pier is just a couple miles away.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Great place by the beach

Your not on the beach but literally on the other side of pacific coast highway you are there. They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups. They have a great pool, maintained laundry rooms bathrooms and showers separated by men and woman for that privacy you need. Overall an incredible rv park and very impressed by it being well kept and clean. Not to mention close to the beach

Mountain Lakes Resort - Membership Campground

    Great family friendly place

My wife and I have been coming up here for years. We used to use her parents fifth wheel or use a cabin but recently purchased our own travel trailer. Now we come up here with our kids and I can’t say enough about how family friendly it is.

    Pineknot

Pineknot Campground, Big Bear Lake, Ca

A bit challenging to locate via Google Maps... Just go up (south) Summit Blvd, when you get to the parking lot of the ski resort, veer towards the left, and just past a concrete wall, you'll see the little Pineknot Campground sign attached to an aluminium pole. The campground is very cozy, countless tall pine trees, clean bathrooms, clean sites, water from taps, no hookups, and not for big rigs. The hosts are friendly, but strict! No generators from 8 pm to 8 am, a $3000 fine if your campfire is left unattended, and no rowdy obnoxious behavior is tolerated! We appreciated the rules, and thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful, quiet, deep in the woods getaway!!

Paradise By The Sea RV Resort

    Amazing RV Resort Near Beach

A nicely appointed RV resort in downtown Oceanside with an awesome staff. Pull-through and back-in, full hookup spots available. Cable, wi-fi, a clubhouse with TV and PlayStation for the kids, pool table, games to check out, and a small swimming pool and hot tub. There are also outdoor community areas with ping-pong, bean-bag toss, grills, and other activities.

The resort is only a 5- minute walk to the beach and not far from Oceanside restaurants and shops. While it’s a tad spendy, you really do get a lot for your money with a great near beach location.

Guide to Lake Elsinore

Lake Elsinore sits at approximately 1,250 feet elevation within the Santa Ana Mountains range, creating a microclimate that regularly produces summer temperatures exceeding 100°F from June through September. The surrounding terrain features chaparral-covered hills with recreational water access at the 3,000-acre natural lake—the largest freshwater lake in Southern California. Winter camping conditions remain mild with overnight temperatures rarely dropping below 40°F.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Launch Pointe Recreation Destination provides lake access for anglers seeking catfish and bass. "Lots of families with children, fishing for catfish in the little lake which is shaded with trees and plenty of tables to picnic by the lake," notes a visitor at Rancho Jurupa RV Park.

Water activities: The summer heat makes water recreation essential at Lake Elsinore rv campgrounds. "My family loves this place we were here before the remodeling and we are still faithful returners every year for the past 20+ years we absolutely love it here and the family fun is always amazing," reports a camper about Launch Pointe Recreation Destination.

Nearby attractions: The location serves as a central hub for Southern California exploration. "We used the campground as a base camp to spend time in LA and San Diego as well as a day in Joshua Tree National Park. 1-2 hours from everything," explains a visitor to Launch Pointe.

What campers like

Security measures: Many Lake Elsinore rv parks prioritize safety. "Great sense of community and great placement of the gates for safety purposes. Lots of food spots within 10 minutes," reports a Rancho Jurupa visitor. Another notes, "friendly staff to check us in gates close at 10pm your provided with a security gate code to get back in if your out late."

Site spaciousness: Concrete pads with ample spacing remain a highlight at several campgrounds near Lake Elsinore. "Large concrete pads, easy backing in and hooking up. Lots of grass, great place to camp in groups," explains a camper about Rancho Jurupa Park, while at Pala Casino RV Resort, "The spots are big as well, each spot have a picnic table!"

Proximity to amenities: The convenience of nearby services appeals to many. "Target directly across the street, In-n-Out, local parks, and the like," notes a visitor to Golden Village Palms RV Resort in Hemet.

What you should know

Water quality concerns: Lake Elsinore itself sometimes experiences algae issues. "The lake was closed due to algae bloom," reports one Launch Pointe camper, while another mentions "This is probably the nicest thing in lake elsinore along with the bowling alley... bummer that the lake is gross."

Noise levels: Campgrounds vary significantly in their noise policies. "The only bad part is they strictly enforce quiet time at 10pm. I felt like a kid being told to go to bed," notes a Launch Pointe visitor. Contrasting this, at Wilderness Lakes RV Resort, "Dirt bikes, electric scooters, golf carts with loud music, cars literally cruising the park with loud music, people using leaf blowers you name it we saw it."

Wi-Fi limitations: Internet connectivity issues affect some rv campgrounds in Lake Elsinore. "Internet was great but it had bandwidth restraints that would turn your internet off after very small amounts of data used. There was no option to upgrade so you had to use your own hotspots," explains a Launch Pointe visitor.

Tips for camping with families

Water amenities: Child-focused water features provide relief from summer heat. "Amenities are very good for young kids. Canopy Court area has easy and close access to the splash pad, the playground, a large grass area, and even the pool," explains a Launch Pointe visitor.

Activity options: Structured recreation keeps children engaged. "We enjoy the pool, watching the ducks in the pond, and the kids loved the basketball court," reports a Wilderness Lakes RV Resort visitor. At Escondido RV Resort, "The resort's prime location added to the overall charm, allowing easy access to nearby attractions while still offering a quiet and serene atmosphere."

Group sites: Some campgrounds specifically accommodate family gatherings. "Took Girl Scouts here for group camping. Rocky and sand. The family camping was fine! Girls used Porta Potties... However, there are some great kid friendly activities," explains a visitor to Rancho Jurupa Park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Leveling challenges exist at some Lake Elsinore area rv parks. "The sites were all uneven. Every camper we saw had to do major leveling efforts," notes a visitor to Launch Pointe.

Seasonal considerations: Summer heat demands functioning electrical systems for RVers. "We stayed in the natural area with hook-ups everything worked great," reports a Rancho Jurupa camper, while at Pala RV Resort, "Full hookups on what looks like every spot. 30/50 amp, water, sewer, and cable available on all spots."

Reservation timing: Securing preferred sites requires planning ahead. "I will book ahead next time," advises a Rancho Jurupa visitor. "Came in for a convention in Ontario, better alternative than Fairplex park. Very spacious and good for big rigs. There's a dump station, but a couple spots with dump but they were always booked."
