Huntington Beach RV Campground

This county-operated RV park operates seasonally from October through May, converting from summer beach parking to overnight camping when visitor traffic drops. Located directly on the beach in Huntington Beach, the facility provides a paved parking lot setup with fire pits and restroom access. Self-contained rigs are required since hookups are not available.

The location puts campers steps from the sand and boardwalk, with the Huntington Beach Pier within walking distance. Several reviewers highlight the cleanliness of facilities, including laundry options for extended stays. Fire pits allow evening bonfires, which Isabel L. notes creates "beachfront views" for those positioned along the water edge. The proximity to Pacific Coast Highway brings consistent traffic noise throughout the night.

Restaurants and shopping sit within minutes of the campground, making supply runs convenient. However, the urban beach setting means encounters with transient populations, particularly during overnight hours. The open layout offers little privacy between sites. "All is very clean and great we could wash our clothing there," reports Meindert R..

This setup works best for RV travelers prioritizing beach access over traditional campground amenities, particularly those comfortable with urban camping environments and the social dynamics of a parking lot-style arrangement.

Campers regularly cited the unbeatable beachfront location with clean facilities and fire pits. However, many mentioned significant noise issues from traffic and nighttime disturbances that affected the experience.

Close to the beach

Good place to stay at when visiting LA. Car rentals nearby so visiting LA by car to hollywood and beverlyhills. All is very clean and great we could wash our clothing there.

As close to the beach as you can get in OC!

Yes, it's a parking lot, but you won't get any closer to the beach than this! Our kids had a blast staying here since it's right on the boardwalk and super close to the HB pier. At night, you can build a bonfire, which is really fun and one of the few spots in Orange County that you can do this.

FYI - The campground is only open October through May since this lot is traditionally used for summer beach parking.

One star is missing since this place can get pretty rowdy at night, depending on who your neighbors are.

Our first time out

This was our first time using our airstream and decided to go somewhere relative close to home. We were told about sunset vista. Made reservations and here we are. It was great. We had beach front views, everything was clean and other rv’ers were friendly. I would definitely come back.

Right on the beach!

We loved that it was right on the beach, but there is quite a bit of traffic noise from PCH and quite a few homeless people wandering around (one in particular was making noise throughout the night!) There are lots of great restaurants within walking distance.
