Fun day hikes

Area offers campgrounds but also its a good place to do day hikes. Its very close to San Francisco so it can get busy. Not the best place to be in solitude but it offers nice trails and views. Restrooms are available and there’s easy parking access.

Nestled among the trees

Probably a half dozen campers in Azalea and less in Wolverine. Every site looked good and all the ones for RVs seemed pretty level. Restrooms were clean. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The trails were great. The hermit’s dwellings were interesting. The redwoods in the Hendy grove…

What to say…

Use to go here years ago. You would pull up, everyone would make a big circle with their campers and it was on. Now it’s all roped off, spaces are painted on the grass, tent campers have a separate area… blah blah blah. They’re completely being directed by the coastal state committees. I get it…

Perfect, right in the middle of vineyards.

This place is magical. We rode our bikes around the vineyards and enjoyed every single moment. Would come back next time for sure.

What's not to like?

Nice campground. Easy access to Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe. Sites clean and well maintained. Lots of campers, yet quiet. Only downfall is that it's popular. Off season best option.

Sunny retreat

The campsite was very quiet. The space in our site was large and there was a good buffer with other sites. The trees also offered a lot of shade during the hot summer days. The bathrooms and showers were really nice. Barely used by others and no lines whatsoever. If you want to go swimming you…

Close to Napa

This park is close to downtown Napa and the wineries but feels like it’s out further. It has nice hiking with beautiful views of the vineyards and the city of Napa. The park itself, however, could use a little TLC. The restrooms and showers are clean and well-maintained but there are only four…

beach adjacent fun

I've camped here about half a dozen times over the years and while each experience has been different, they were all enjoyable and I would easily return again.

There are a variety of campsites, and they are many - we camp as close to the ocean as possible in the meadow area. There are…

Beautiful, Quiet, Convenient

Idyllic campsites along a creek under the trees. Sites are close together but don’t feel crowded. Good spots for tents. Restrooms are individual, clean and better than usual for state parks. There is a swimming pool, although I didn’t use it. Close to a town, if you should need something. An easy…

Very small sites

Super close to everyone. Also weird how many Porta-podies right across every site. Lots of people. Kinda expensive.

All the Beauty of Tahoe with a fraction of the crowds

Fallen Leaf Lake Campground is a sweet spot to get away. It is just south of South Lake Tahoe, and generally won't be as crowded. Weekends get busy for sure. We have been several times and my 3 boys loved being near the mountains, out of the heat, and so close to an awesome body of water. …

Best of all worlds

I've taken my 3 kids a couple of times now, and it's such a great location along the Sonoma Coast. Not too many other areas that you can be deep into a wooded forest type area, then pop out on the cliffs over looking the vast Pacific Ocean. Great hiking, clean, and easy access to many other beach…

Great Overnight Stay

Stayed one night, full hookup for $37 with discount.  Fair grounds with stock car racing on Saturday night, a little noisy until 10:00, but did not really notice it much inside RV.  Level camping site.

Lost what made it great

This is still a cool spot. Great beach access, fishing, crabbing, boat launch, etc. but it used to be so much better. The sites are super close together and the layout could be better.
