The South Yuba Wild & Scenic River Recreation Area and National Trail is located approximately 10 miles northeast of Nevada City, California. The Recreation Area is administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM); U.S. Forest Service (USFS); and California Department of Parks and Recreation (State Parks/DPR). This 15 mile trail is open to hiking, horseback riding, trail running and mountain biking. The trail is closed to motorized vehicles. The South Yuba Trail takes hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders through historic foothill river canyons. Expect to see evidence of California's rich gold rush history.

The beautiful Lake Minden RV Camping Resort is located in the grassy plains of the Sacramento Valley. Our private 41-acre lake is circled by eucalyptus trees and offers great fishing and boating adventures. The atmosphere of this RV campground in California is relaxing, the staff is friendly and helpful, and there is something for everyone. We are centrally located to several major cities and are a quick getaway as well as a convenient stop-over on the main North-South traveled highways 99 and 70. The area offers many local attractions and things to do. Cal Expo (State Fair), Arco Arena (home of the Kings basketball team) and Sleeptrain Amphitheatre are 20 minutes from the preserve. Old Sacramento is also close by Lake Minden RV Resort and offers the railroad museum and other nostalgic and historic sites as well as shopping and several eateries. Old Sacramento hosts an annual jazz festival, which is a huge event every year. French Meadows Campground is located along the shores__French Meadows Reservoir, about 40 miles from the town of Foresthill. Visitors enjoy the area for its fishing, boating and trail opportunities. This facility is operated and maintained by the Tahoe National Forest.
Popular activities on the reservoir include boating, canoeing, fishing and swimming. A boat ramp is located adjacent to__the campground. The North Fork American River can be accessed nearby and provides additional opportunities for fishing and swimming. A variety of hiking and biking trails are found in the surrounding area, including some that provide access to the nearby Granite Chief Wilderness and The Western States Trail. If I could give zero stars, I would. Thousand Trails Lake Minden is very rundown. Immediately upon arrival at this so-called "resort," you can see the neglect from the outset. Their main sign is faded and sunburned, looking like it’s from 1970. The roads are riddled with potholes, none of which are paved. It’s clear the maintenance of this property has been ignored for years.
The "resort" advertises full hookups, but the reality is they have about 20 full hookup sites that can’t accommodate RVs over 35 feet. My 40-foot RV doesn’t fit, so I’m forced to drive around the lake to the non-hookup section, which only has water and power. To dump your tanks, you have to make trips to the dump station—hardly convenient for a place claiming to be a resort.
I paid $10,000 for a lifetime membership that allows me to stay at Thousand Trails properties for 21 days at a time. My mistake was not visiting any of their locations before making this purchase. I strongly urge anyone considering a Thousand Trails membership to visit several of their properties first—it will likely change your mind. Lake Minden is no better than other Thousand Trails locations, and in fact, I’d rank it among the worst.
As a full-time RVer, I’m stuck here for the 21-day maximum, and once that’s up, I’m forced to relocate two hours away to their next nearest property, Ponderosa. I’ll review that location when I arrive, but I don’t have high expectations.
What’s most frustrating is the blatant contradiction between their claims and reality. They require age-appropriate RVs for members, yet I’m parked next to a 20-year-old RV with a blue tarp on the roof. The facility is so poorly maintained it’s a stretch to even call it a campground, let alone a resort.
My regret for buying a Thousand Trails lifetime membership is astronomical. If I knew then what I know now, I would never have spent a dime. Thousand Trails should be ashamed to call themselves a resort. Lake Minden, like many of their properties, is nothing more than a run-down trailer park.

Snowflower sits just off I-80, it’s owned by Thousand Trails. With the popularity of RV camping, this campground can get busy in the summer months. It is closed in the winter due to snow. There is a small lake that is good for kayaking and paddle boarding. There are sites with partial hookups (electric and water). Lake Tahoe is just 30 minutes west.

Inter city RV Park at Cal Expo. Great Bike paths adjacent along the river into Downtown or up to Folsom. All Full hook up sites on gravel or asphalt, daily, weekly, monthly rates. Stayed a couple of times for sons events at college there.
ScoutThis is a Thousand trails camp ground. Its has a small (very small) lake. Good fishing for fun. The camp ground is broken up in 4 sections. the first has full hookups but is very small and tight (like will my slide hit you tights) the other one on the other side of the lake is bigger but has no sewer but a dump station. the other two have nothing for tents pretty much. Bathrooms seam clean every time I have been here and the staff is always nice.
GuideI am a member of Thousand Trails and that being said this is one of my favorite TT spots in California. Family friendly, great little Lake for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding. RV sites have partial hook ups.  Thousand Trails does not reserve campsites so it can be quite a scene to find a site especially in the summer. Only one dump station was open (there are 3) so waited 30 + minutes to dump, hopefully management is working on that… they do offer a honey wagon service for $40.00 available 2 times a week.

General: This is a HUGE RV park (a Sun Resort) with back-in, pull-through sites, and cabins. We called a day ahead to see if there was room and on a weekday in early May, there was plenty of availability. We even received a Spring Flash Sale (40% off) rate which, although more than we usually spend to camp, was reasonable. As is typical of RV parks, there is a small patch of lawn between sites but virtually no privacy. There are trees throughout the park and although it is located right on the road, only the sites that back up to the road hear road noise. There is a small pond in the center and we saw some ducks. All camping sites have full hook-ups and a picnic table but no fire ring or grill. There is a large laundry room and a café. We were assigned a site at check-in.
Site Quality: Pads are paved and level. The back-in sites in the center back up to each other with no divider between them. I saw several large RVs look almost like they were touching!
Bathhouse: Two bathhouses each with three stalls, two sinks, and two showers. Although there is a curtain separating the showers from the rest of the bathroom, the bench is outside of the shower stalls, which could be awkward. However, in the time we were there, I never saw a single person in the bathroom(assuming most people use their own bathrooms in their RVs). The shower had good water pressure and hot water.
Activities: There is a pool, playground, rec center. Shuffleboard, horseshoes, and beach volleyball. It is a half-mile around the perimeter, so I was able to enjoy a short run.
This is not our usual type of camping experience, but since we met friends at a nearby winery, this worked for us since we did not want to drive far.

Thousand Trails membership is worthless. Every time I try to book something it tells me to call the 1800 number but they never answer. The facilities are pretty tore up. The facilies are clean but they neglect the maintenance. On several occasions I booked a site and the day before it gets cancelled without reason. They don’t answer emails or phone calls.

The full hookup rv spots are gravel & very dusty. Whole park is actually. Spots are a little tight for my 37' 5th wheel but it worked out pretty good. Back end of my trailer hung over a big hill. You sit above the full timer rv spots & mostly look at trees. Good sunsets! Lake water level was super low at end of summer & lake is hard to access. Unless you got a boat. Saw deer & wild turkeys. This park is huge. Can drive around & find a good spot to access the lake & go swimming.

Most of this park is long term. Invest by geese who love to leave their droppings everywhere. We had a last minute change in plans and chose this. Not sure we will be back. WiFi is very weak if you get it.
ScoutWe enjoyed our first visit and will definitely come back! The park is a mix of old RV’s that folks have long term stays and open spots for visitors. Some nice spots and some tight spots. We stayed in site 62 with 41 foot MH. There was no room for a tow vehicle and we did not put our awnings out. We enjoyed fishing from the bank and had some good luck with power bait. The resort is very clean and quiet!

Perfect for what it is which is a basic parking lot RV park. The amenities are pretty great, lovely pool, petting zoo and my favorite the fenced dog park. Oh and they have a dog wash with leash clip!!! So many parks miss the opportunity for dog friendly features. They have the cleanest bathrooms i have ever experienced at an RV park.
My only disappointment was the wifi connection specifically in communal spaces close to the office where it makes sense to have strong connection. Their rec room would be a perfect place to hey some work done if only the wifi was powerful enough. Since i was working on the road I was specifically in need of this amenity. I heard certain RV spots had great reception but unfortunately not ours.

Lots of trees for shade and a nice swimming pool to cool yourself. The sites are a nice size. This is an older park in a location close to shopping. However, the train is near by and can be heard in the park. It comes by about twice in a 24 hr period. Office staff very nice and helpful. There are laundry facilities (pay). And many long term “campers”. All in all,it’s a sweet set up, with easy access.

A bit out in middle of no where! But once inside park it’s really nice if you can get a full hook up spot.... those are limited! Has pool and breakfast on weekends. They rent pontoons and paddle boats.... has a beach area too! Watch out for meat bees... need a screen room to eat outside... they come out of nowhere😬

We've used other campgrounds since, but we always wind up coming back to Ice House. It's far enough away without being a all day drive, and it's right on the water.
The boat ramp is right in the middle and you can get anything from walk in tent sites to family sites big enough for an RV and a large group. There's a resort a few miles down the road so you can get ice and supplies.
Most of of camp sites have pretty good shade, and with a little strategic placement you can make sure your tent isn't baking in the evening.
They've been installing bear boxes, so if you're a motorcycle camper you don't have to worry about where you're going to store your food overnight. Water spigots are rarely more than a short walk from any camp site.
Really, all that's missing is RV hookups, so people tend to run their generators. The 10:00 noise cut off is usually well enforced, so the nights are very peaceful. I've even seen a few black bears roaming through my camp sites over the years.
All in all, Ice House is a great, well maintained and peaceful campground that keeps me coming back.

This was a great stop over as we were passing through. A quiet and small RV park with first come, first serve spaces when you arrive. It is gated. Water and Electricity with a dump station. Spacious enough for us. Easy to get in and out and pretty level. No wifi but AT&T worked fine.
TravelerWe checked in and had reservations but it’s a first come first serve sites! They have different sections that cost more… the closer you are to the river, the more it will cost. It ranges from $5 to $20 bucks more a night.They say NO saving sites but people do and if your new to the campground it’s hard to know what is what!! Once I figured out the sites I had people move their cars so we could back in…. Lucky us we get next to a resident that lives there and is so rude! She wasn’t home at the time so we had no idea if that camper was parking their vehicle in parking area since nothing was in front of her trailer! We had our golf cart over a bit in her site and boy we heard about it in the morning!! She scolded us like we were kids!! She went and told others in the campground that lived their as well! She told us that they others said to lay on the horn at 10 pm until we came out! 🙄 thank goodness we were able to move over a site so we had one between us because the sites are so, so small you can’t even extend your awning all the way…. While we were moving over she comes out to say we’ll like it there pssh and we have the best behaved dogs. I wanted to say take some lessons from them 😂🤣Mean people can ruin your trip so easily!!! The River is nice with man made trails to easily walk down to a beach area. They don’t have sewer so you can dump it yourself at a dump area on the campground or have a service come to you and do it for $25 They have a store on the grounds and a pool. This is a Thousand Trails so if you are a member it is probably less out of your pocket. Besides the mean old grumpy lady and the small sites, it was a good trip….I don’t think we will return though. I feel there is many more campgrounds to explore and I’ll do a better research on the area before booking……
TravelerThis RV park was the first place we took our very first new travel trailer. We wanted a close to home location with all the hookups to make sure we knew how to use everything. We were shocked at how clean and beautiful this park was! Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful. There’s an awesome walking trail around the park. We had our 6 year old with us and she loved to scooter around the walking path with us. We used the free WiFi to homeschool as well. This is a great place to visit. We specifically stayed in spot 24, but any of the spots along the back have a beautiful view of the canyon.

The park is rather spread out, so a bicycle/ebike is a plus. And if you mountain bike, there's some decent trails close by to ride. There's also legit fishing lakes within about a 20 minute radius.
RV sites are mostly electric and water only, and many aren't anywhere near level. Nonetheless, I loved the place and will definitely go back. If you prefer parking lot RV parks though, go somewhere else.

Ranger...then you want a good location for your home base. Cal Expo definitely has the centralized location for exploring Old Sac, Cal Expo, State Capitol, the rivers and beyond. Cal Expo RV Park is a parking lot where your rig is nose-down, not necessarily level, and your septic goes uphill to drain. It is quite noisy at night with traffic, sirens and other noise.

Had a standard Hookup-RV-Spot. Was very uneven, couldn't get the RV level. If you don't have the premium hookup spots, you got to pay 20$ "Service Fee" for dumping. Idk why because you end up doing it all by yourself as usual anyway. Feels like a bit of a rip off to be honest. The rest is nice, quiet (except for the geese) and clean.
