No Skoolies

Disappointed to be told they don't allow any buses unless they have the RVCIA (sp?) sticker. There were some really old and knackered looking caravans and daggy RV's in the park, but the place was pretty much deserted as it's November. All in all it was frustrating. ggggrrrrrrr

If it must be Sac...

...then you want a good location for your home base. Cal Expo definitely has the centralized location for exploring Old Sac, Cal Expo, State Capitol, the rivers and beyond. Cal Expo RV Park is a parking lot where your rig is nose-down, not necessarily level, and your septic goes uphill to drain. It is quite noisy at night with traffic, sirens and other noise.

Website is bogus

They claim tents are allowed be you can’t reserve a spot. The site says oops something went wrong and then it begins to show you all the attractions that are happening in coming to Cal Expo RV it’s basically a commercial. Very unhappy about that so I never went

Convenient location, would stay here again but maybe for a shorter time

This would be a great stop for a few days. We were there for a work week and then some. It is accessible to downtown, but it is just a parking lot with no frills. We got lucky and parked under one of the only trees in the park which made it feel more welcoming. We were by the dumpsters but it was never an issue.

They have a laundry room but close at 4pm so make sure to make the deadline because they lock it before they head home for the day! ha. There is a night guard that patrols. There is direct access to the bike path which goes for miles and miles and connects to other trails which made our stay really great.

FHU and pretty level. Easy pull thru site. Would stay again, but for a shorter time.

Convenient stop

Came here for a convention at Cal Expo, very convenient. While here there were incidents of someone (homeless?) pulling on our grey/black tank valves to open them and another night hearing someone jostling with the main door handle. I then locked up the bay doors for sanitary and electrical and didn’t have any problems after that. I notified camp security, friendly. Very spread out which is good for a long class A pulling a trailer. I only have 2 complaints: the first, management….When making reservation over phone, the associate needed my card number but couldn’t tell me my total. I came in after office hours and picked up pamphlet with spot number. A day or two later I got a phone call from them stating I should have checked in and have not paid. I made the person aware i paid over the phone with my card and she insisted that is not how it is done then proceeded to tell me she had my card number and could charge the total if I wanted to. It was a bit too snippy of a conversation to have with a customer. The first day we were there, our neighbors truck was parked in our spot and we waited a minute or two for them to realize and move. They did, but just as they finished moving the manager came over telling them they were “red-flagged and not welcome back” for that incident. A bit far for a two minute delay for us, which we did not complain about, but the neighbor did say they had an issue of someone lurking around the campground “looking for something to steal”. Before arriving, I called to make sure packages could be delivered so I had an Amazon package delivered a couple days into my reservation, i was over at the convention center long hours so did not have time to pick it up until the last day of my reservation. On the way out, I stopped by the office and they claimed to have never received a package for me even though it said delivered to receptionist. I let it go and got my money back from Amazon. About 45 minutes later after leaving the campground, I call the main cal expo office and they also say there’s no package. I then almost immediately receive a phone call from the RV park stating they had my package…I’m like ????? My second complaint would be the address itself. The RV park should have a separate house number from the expo itself, so I had to direct DoorDash to follow the signs posted directing to the RV park. Will use this park again next year despite the minor incidents.

City camping

If you looking to park your RV in sacramento this is a good place. It’s city camping for sure. Cal expo holds the state fair and concerts.
