Campgrounds near Bell Gardens range from beachfront tent sites to full-hookup RV parks, all within a predominantly urban landscape in Los Angeles County. Within a 30-mile radius, visitors can find RV parks like Orangeland RV Park in Orange and Dockweiler Beach RV Park in Playa Del Rey, offering full hookups for recreational vehicles. Tent camping opportunities exist at places such as Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground in Huntington Beach, where beachfront sites provide direct ocean access. Most camping facilities in this region cater to both RV and tent campers, with several offering amenities like showers, electric hookups, and water access.
Reservations are essential for most campgrounds near Bell Gardens, particularly during summer months when beachfront sites fill quickly. According to one visitor, "Beachfront camping in the heart of southern California... steps away from great sand beaches. Easy access to Long Beach and not far from Disneyland so great when kids came in from out of state to visit." Road access is generally good with paved routes to most established campgrounds, though traffic congestion can be significant, especially on weekends. The Mediterranean climate offers mild temperatures year-round, with summer highs rarely exceeding 90°F and winter lows seldom dropping below 45°F. Most campgrounds in this urban region maintain cell service coverage and are within short driving distance of convenience stores and restaurants.
Beachfront campgrounds remain the most sought-after near Bell Gardens, with campers noting the opportunity to enjoy ocean views and beach activities despite the metropolitan setting. Several visitors mentioned appreciating the bikeable pathways at coastal campgrounds, with one review noting "bike path runs by the site for miles in both directions." While urban noise is common at most campgrounds in the region, particularly from nearby highways and, in some cases, aircraft, many campers find the convenience of nearby attractions worth the tradeoff. Campgrounds slightly farther from Bell Gardens, such as those in the Angeles National Forest approximately 25 miles north, offer more seclusion and traditional forest camping environments with hiking trails and cooler temperatures due to higher elevations.

I found the staff to be off putting, unpleasant, even contrary.
I found the campground to be very friendly kid friendly and pet friendly. The spots were spacious and some had privacy others were out in the open. The rangers were very friendly and helpful, they helped me set up my tent when they saw I was having trouble. There are trails to explore. A great last minute getaway from the city and not to far, the bathroom was clean and modern with hot showers and toilets.
Very windy and need high clearance vehicles
You definitely need high clearance vehicles or you will not make it here

Title: Horrible Experience — Zero Empathy and Harassment of Disabled Guests
If you are a traveler with disabilities, a service animal, or simply expect basic human decency, stay far away from Waterfront RV Park.
My stay here was a nightmare. I was placed in a cramped corner spot with barely enough room to maneuver. Because of my medical condition, I rely on a service dog. I had to park slightly over a painted line—by a mere 8 inches—just to have enough physical space to load my service animal safely. My vehicle blocked no one, yet night after night, park security targeted and harassed me over this minor detail, acting rude and aggressive.
When I experienced a severe medical emergency and panic attack, security chose to escalate the situation, berating me while I was injured and confused instead of offering help. Management showed zero empathy or willingness to listen. After learning my truck was broken down at a dealership, making it physically impossible to move my RV immediately, they threatened to tow and impound it without giving me reasonable time or process.
This facility lacks basic compassion, professionalism, and respect for its guests. Save yourself the stress and avoid this park.
Great rv site site used ele bikes outside to get to beach brilliant!! Would use again
very pretty sight the mountain air is incredible. the staff is very helpful and friendly. at night the drunks go crazy and the bears steal their food.
It was a nice place and the people were nice. I checked with the staff on day one if their water was potable. They confirmed everything is potable. My dog had explosive diarrhea day 1 and by the time I got home I had fever and diarrhea. It’s been a rough ride ever since. My dog and I did not share food. We only used the tap as a water source. My husband ate all of our food any only drank store bought drinks. No water. He’s fine. Just me and the dog riding it out. Don’t learn my lesson the hard way. Bring your own water and enjoy it.
Stockton flats yellow post sights 1-8 can be driven easily in any 2wd vehicle with moderate clearance. I took my f250 service body truck to site#6 or im assuming its #6. Sites are not label. Trail Roads got washed and i wasnt able to continue further to verify. If you’re afraid of clearance issues stick to sites 1 & 2. At the time of going, 3,4 & 5 looked like perfect sights to stay, other sites were rough and a rake would be needed minimum to make it comfortable. #9 currently requires minor upgrades to reach the campground. A stock jeep with oversized tires could easily get to that location as of 8-29-2026
Camping options near Bell Gardens center around established RV and tent sites rather than dispersed camping. Located at an elevation of approximately 160 feet, the area experiences a coastal Mediterranean climate with ocean influence affecting both temperature and humidity levels. Campsites within 30 miles offer varying amenities with most requiring reservations 3-6 months in advance for weekend stays.
Horseback riding and fishing: 4 miles north at Bonelli Bluffs, where the landscape includes trails and water access. "There is camping, horseback riding, fishing, trails, biking, hiking, picnics, you can use your jet skies in designated areas, swimming on the pool areas, kayaking, Park for kids and plenty more," notes Jessica P.
Biking along coastal paths: 15 miles south at Golden Shore RV Resort in Long Beach, where paved trails connect multiple beach areas. "Great Long Beach location, a nice bike ride along the beach to Naples and the Queen Mary," writes Theo A., highlighting the connectivity between major landmarks.
Citrus picking: 25 miles east at Orangeland RV Park where guests can harvest fresh fruit during their stay. "You can pick all the oranges you want!" exclaims Brian C. The park combines urban amenities with agricultural traditions, offering a unique camping experience.
Beach access with facilities: Dockweiler Beach RV Park provides direct beach access with full hookups for RVs. "We parked right by the Pacific Ocean, watched planes from LAX fly overhead, and soaked in a stunning sunset. It was the ideal place to settle into our campervan life," reports Prince C. The park includes both hookup and dry camping areas to accommodate different needs.
Waterfront camping with urban proximity: Campsites with ocean views remain popular despite noise from nearby urban areas. "Amazing beach front sites, expected noise from road and airport but you can still hear the ocean, super lively/loud beach on weekend, very chill weekdays," notes PJ M. about Dockweiler Beach.
Natural settings within city limits: Some campgrounds maintain natural features despite urban surroundings. "A hidden gem located in the middle of the city, with the feel of the outdoor. Lots of trees, biking and hiking trails, fishing area, beautiful views, very peaceful," describes Veronica P. about Bonelli Bluffs.
Airport noise impacts: Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground and other coastal sites experience significant noise from nearby travel infrastructure. "Very very loud street noise. Great location. I mean what can I say to diminish a beach spot for 60 bucks? How about a motorcycle passing right outside your bedroom window at 12,000 rpm every two minutes all night long?" warns Rob N.
Site spacing considerations: Many campgrounds feature closely positioned sites with limited privacy. "Good camp ground if you like being 6 ft away from your neighbors. More of a group or community campground. Shared fire pit and tables. Not the place to go if you are trying to get away from people," explains Michael S. about site layouts.
Military-only restrictions: Some of the best-rated campgrounds near Bell Gardens require military credentials. "A well kept secret with one drawback; everyone has to have an ID card to get on the base or be pre approved by base security," notes William M. about Seabreeze At Seal Beach.
Disney proximity planning: Anaheim Harbor RV Park offers convenient access to major attractions. "The staff are helpful and nice, be aware that office hours are 9a-5p. Laundry closes at 9pm. Pool needs a separate key (they gave us one on arrival) get a deluxe site if you can," advises Jennifer H., adding, "We walked to and back from Disney. Super easy. It's a mile each way."
Tent-specific location limitations: Few campgrounds in the area accommodate tent camping. "There are only two tent sites (T1 and T3), the rest are for RVs. The price was super affordable at only $40 per night. They have a nice, small pool area, bbq areas, a club house, clean bathrooms and showers and WiFi," notes Jessica R. about Anaheim Harbor RV Park.
Site selection for space: When booking, prioritize deluxe or premium sites for family space. "The standard sites are essentially a large parking spot in a paved parking lot. The deluxe feel more like an RV site with a picnic table and grass. And for only a few bucks more," suggests Jennifer H.
Campground fees breakdown: Understand all potential charges before booking. "Any standard site is a parking lot no grass. Any time it says grass it is synthetic grass- AstroTurf. The very small strip of grass on a site has a fee attached," warns Prentice F. about Anaheim Harbor RV Park, adding that many parks charge per person beyond two occupants.
Utility hookup planning: Water and electric connections vary significantly between campgrounds. "Back-in and pull-thru sites (I'd try to stay closer to Struck and the western side). Rules are there to keep things nice and safe. Good wifi," notes Emily S. about Orangeland RV Park.
Off-season advantages: Consider camping during non-peak periods for better experiences. "We've stayed here about 3 times. Last few times has been lovely. The location they placed us in was where we were last year and it's perfect! It's a very clean park, office is friendly as well as the outside workers," shares Douglas T. about Golden Shore RV Resort.
