Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Woodville, AL

Cathedral Caverns State Park Campground welcomes pets throughout its camping areas, offering both primitive tent sites and RV hookups where dogs can join their owners. The campground features clean, shaded sites with fire rings and picnic tables where campers and their four-legged companions can relax. Full hookup sites are available in the newer section, providing water, electric, and sewer connections for RV campers traveling with pets. Lake Guntersville State Park Campground and Monte Sano State Park also accommodate pets at their sites with various hookup options. Most campgrounds in the area require pets to remain leashed at all times and owners to clean up after their animals. The campsites are a good size for families with pets, providing enough space for tents, vehicles, and dog tie-outs without feeling cramped.

Hiking trails throughout Cathedral Caverns State Park provide excellent opportunities for exercising dogs, with multiple path options varying in difficulty. The campground's setting offers natural exploration with pets, though owners should be prepared for occasional wildlife encounters. Pets must remain outside the caverns during tours, so travelers planning to explore the impressive cave formations should consider their pet care options beforehand. Camp hosts at Cathedral Caverns are particularly helpful with pet-related questions and concerns. Cell service throughout the area is notably spotty, which presents challenges for accessing emergency veterinary information—pet owners should download maps and save veterinary contact information before arrival. The nearby town of Huntsville, just 30 minutes away, provides access to pet supply stores and veterinary services when needed.

    DeSoto State Park Campground

    Great Group Sites

If you have a large group you want to take camping in Alabama I highly recommend this site. There is great hiking nearby and the sites are large enough for a lot of people. Make sure to take a hike to the beautiful waterfall and you can even check out the nearby hiking and caves. The caves are a weird experience but if you haven't gone before it's worth checking out.

    Great place!

Quiet campground tucked away on Lookout Mountain, with super friendly and helpful staff. The campground is very well maintained, has a large pool, playground and giant in-ground bounce ballon for the kids, and a fenced in dog park complete with slides and playground equipment for dogs! There is a walking trails around the campground. The bathroom\shower house was impressive to say the least, very clean and renovated.

    DeSoto State Park Campground

    Truly perfect

Due to some poor planning on my part, we had a free night in-between Tennessee and Georgia, we found this place here on the Dyrt, and it was absolutely spectacular. This part of Alabama is absolutely stunning, at close to 1700 feet in elevation, this area provides some of the most elevation in the state with absolutely stunning natural beauty. From the nearby waterfalls, which are a short drive from the campground to Little River Canyon national river, also a short drive, this area has so much to offer. The campground itself is perfectly maintained, beautiful, spacious, and wooded sites with functioning hookups, clean restrooms, and beautiful natural surroundings. Initially, we stayed here just to tag the base and say we’ve camped in Alabama, but after spending the night, we will absolutely go back to this facility!

    Point Mallard City Campground

Only a small area is for short term , no wifi

No wifi per office with no known date of repair. Relatively quiet, lots of vehicle traffic and golf carts. Office staff is very helpful and friendly. Majority of park is longterm. Dog friendly, no dog park at location. Close to shopping but far enough away for quiet.

Great place for a home base

Called on the way from Cades Cove and reserved a spot. We arrived to a friendly reception and fast check-in. Easy pull throughs and back ins. But the best part is the location. Not to mention the dog park is the bomb!

Redstone Arsenal RV Park & Campground

    Parking lot

This is your typical military PCS campground for people in transit. No shade! Cement pads to park on. A laundry room, pavilion and showerhouse. There is a dog park and you are off the beaten path. Which makes it a little difficult to find the first time. But when you do your like “Duh! It was right here.” So useful for an overnight if you have a military/retired ID.

    Nice Basecamp To explore Chattanooga

We’ve stayed at this campground several times over the past 20 years. It has actually improved since our last visit 7-8 years ago. Bathrooms/showers are very nice…each guest gets a private room with shower, sink and toilet. Dog park is very nice, and trails are good. Campground is quite hilly but our site (15 pull through) was level. Only suggestion would be a better stocked store.

    Lake Guntersville State Park Campground

Beautiful State Park, something for everyone!

Visited Lake Guntersville State Park, for the day. After taking our granddaughter to Screaming Eagle Zip-line Adventures, located at the gorgeous Lodge, we visited the Campground…and it’s amazing! At the office, we were helped by Rocky, who was friendly and knowledgeable! We received CG info and a map, as well as rates. We are already planning our next trip to visit! The general store was stocked with necessities, as well as souvenirs. Of course we had to get some ice cream! There are several types of sites, monthly, cabins and tent camping. There are boat slips (local rentals) and a Pavilion on the water, basketball and tennis courts, playground, shady dog park, splash pad, and clean bathhouses. Firewood and ice can be purchased at the store. There are also many trails to hike and bike . It is easy to see that this SP is well maintained! The SP Lodge is worth visiting, which has a nice restaurant. LGSP has a golf course, and the quaint town is close by and has shopping and several restaurants.
