It’s a rustic park next to a creek with basic amenities, like vault and flush toilets, water, and fire rings, but not much else. There are tubing and fishing in the river, and you can find excellent swimming holes and a waterfall to swim behind just upstream from the camp.

2. The Parkway RV Resort & Campground
A half-hour to Chico, and an hour’s drive to Redding, The Parkway is a premiere camping destination, especially for RVers. A little over an hour to Redding and 45 minutes to Chico, Buckhorn Recreation Area gives you access to some beautiful vistas with basic amenities. Campsites are located among grassy meadows and oak trees. There are no electrical or sewer hookups, but there is a modern boat ramp and tons of shoreline access to Black Butte Lake, one of the most gorgeous water spots in Northern California.

A beautiful campground with plenty of oak trees, Woodson Bridge SRA is located right on the Sacramento River, an hour from Redding and 20 minutes from Chico. Plenty of trees make the slightly close-spaced RV sites at Volcanic Country Camping & RV feel more private, and this is an excellent jumping-off point for exploring Lassen NP. A restaurant and general store sit near the entrance.
