1. Winding River Resort
Located in Rocky Mountain National Park, just north of Grand Lake, Winding River Resort tops our list for its location alone. The hiking, wildlife viewing, climbing, cycling, fishing, and horseback riding opportunities of the National Park are all right at your doorstep.
With sites ranging in price from $40-$60 per night, it’s not the cheapest campsite, but the Rocky Mountains make it worth it. 2. Garden of the Gods RV Resort

Garden of the Gods RV Resort is located just south of the exquisite Garden of the Gods park. An hour and a half south of Denver and minutes away from Colorado Springs, this campground offers sweeping views of Pikes Peak in the distance.
Whether you’re set on rock climbing at the Garden of the Gods, or you’re eager to explore the interpretive trails, you’ll enjoy the many amenities of the resort: ADA accessibility, electric hookups, water hookups, trash service, drinking water, showers, picnic tables, phone service, Wi-Fi, toilets, and a sanitary dump. 3. Mountaindale RV Resort
Mountaindale Campground and Cabins offers you a beautiful, woodsy escape about half an hour south of Colorado Springs, just off of CO-115.
Sites are reservable, pets and alcohol are permitted, and the campground features many amenities, including a market, showers, water hookups, drinking water, a sanitary dump, electric hookups, toilets, Wi-Fi, phone service, picnic tables, and sewer hookups. Trash service is also available.
4. Elk Creek RV Park

This campground in Northern Colorado is all encompassing when it comes to nature. There are mountains, forests, and grasslands surrounding the site, and plenty of opportunities to escape the rush of everyday life and enjoy the wilderness. Pets, alcohol, and campfires are all permitted so you can savor your time at the site. Quiet nights and friendly staff make this campground a must-see for your journey RV camping in Colorado.

5. Zapata Falls Campground
In south-central Colorado, you’ll find the epic Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, and lucky for you, Zapata Falls Campground is practically right next door. Located 7 miles southwest of the dunes, this campground sits at 9,000 feet in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Out of 24 sites, two are ADA accessible. The campground features 23 single sites ($11 per night) for tents or RVs and one group site ($20 per night). It’s open all year round, but access in winter can be tricky, so call ahead if you’re unsure. It lacks some creature comforts but offers trash service, a sanitary dump, picnic tables, and toilets. It’s no Winding River Resort, but it makes up for it with rustic charm, hike-in sites, and sheer wilderness beauty. Alcohol and pets are permitted.
6. Pinon Flats Campground

Located right in Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve, this campground is a veritable oasis. With miles of hiking trails at your doorstep and the continent’s tallest sand dunes as your new backyard view, you can use this campground as a launchpad for countless adventures. It’s a park for the whole family. Rangers lead kid-friendly programs while the dunes lure runners and hikers to their sandy peaks.
The campground offers 86 reservable campsites. It also boasts numerous amenities and creature comforts, including a market, showers, water hookups, trash service, drinking water, a sanitary dump, electric hookups, toilets, phone service, picnic tables, and sewer hookups.
7. Dakota Ridge RV Park
Located 20 minutes away from Denver’s Capitol Hill and 9 minutes away from downtown Golden, this family-friendly RV park is the ideal capstone to your journey through Colorado. It’s geared specifically for RVs, with 141 fully serviced, level, and paved sites. Premium sites are also available.
This park offers both back-in and pull-through sites and boasts all the amenities of any other park on this list, including Wi-Fi.
