Best Glamping near Alta, WY

We stayed here during a two-week trip visiting several national parks in the West with our friends. Since we had limited time to spend at each of our destinations, we wanted to stay as close as possible to the parks, so this campground fit the bill for visiting both Grand Teton and Yellowstone.

We called ahead to be sure of check in procedures. We first drove to the visitor center and checked in. We were given maps and directions to our sites (our request for neighboring sites was honored). It was easy to locate Site 310, a pull through site with full hookups. The sites were level and mainly dirt (little to no gravel). The roads were the same, so everything stayed dusty for our three-night stay. There were some nice shade trees, and we were able to create a nice little shared yard space with our friends between the two trailers.

There was a great deal of foot and car traffic on the little road our site was on because of our proximity to the bathhouse. It was entertaining watching tent campers run to the bathroom in the mornings while we sipped our coffee outside. We didn’t spend much time hanging out here because we spent the majority of our time visiting the two national parks. Cell service was nonexistent unless we drove to Jackson Overlook. Being out of touch with our families was the worst part of staying here, so we made the ten-minute drive to this point to touch base and take care of emails/business back home. The gas station near the campground was convenient for fuel and ice, so we appreciated that especially after driving through the desolate areas of Wyoming.

Although the dusty roads were an annoyance, we decided that this was the best place to stay for anyone wanting to visit both national parks and have the luxury of full hookups. We would definitely stay here again for visiting Grand Teton and Yellowstone. Maybe by then, they’ll have some gravel.

This campground is perfect for large groups who are looking for a lot of outdoor activities nearby. Fun rivers near the campsite as well as amazing hiking and outdoor adventures with the Tetons right in your backyard. Would highly recommend being here on a night with a full moon. It is so fun to watch the moon come up over the Tetons. Great sunrises as well.

This particular spot was the only one within 50 miles of Cody WY in July, so my friend and I booked it.  It was a wonderful spot to camp.  The site has a ton of tables and a good size fire pit.  I liked the brook being so close and the shade we got from the pine forest.  I think it would be pretty tight for 150 people, but there is parking areas and spots for RVs so it might work.  The camp host was very nice and helpful.  Apparently we would have been able to walk in and ask to camp since it was just the two of us and we were in a tent and avoided the $50 fee.  Overall we were very happy about the site and the proximity to the parks, hiking, the towns (Victor and Driggs), and Cody.

The camp host was AMAZINGLY cool and friendly. There is a flowing creek directly behind some of the sites that provides excellent white noise for better sleeping.

Wonderful spot located in the heart of the Tetons. The nearby creek is beautiful, and it's truly a nice area to just get away from it all. Will definitely return!

Very well maintained campground. Stayed here for a few nights in mid-Sept 2024; no fees - end of summer season. Summer time fee is $17. Mix of pull-thru and back-in sites. Some sites are in the open; others are set back into thick forest. Campground accommodates tent campers, hammock campers, van campers, car campers, truck campers. One camper managed get his big travel trailer into a campsite. Large sites, good spacing between them. Clean vault toilets in different parts of the campground. Water was still turned on during our stay. Usually has a host, but not during my stay. Campsites are level on a gravel surface with a newish table, metal fire ring and a tent pad. Area is popular with hikers. Good trails from the campground. No T-Mobile nor AT&T cell service. The forest road accessing the campground is in good shape; access is from the Idaho side of the Tetons. Stayed in site #2 with a campervan; pull-thru site with a tent pad. A lush forest was directly behind this site. Loved camping here. Look forward to returning.

Teton Canyon was an amazing getaway! Travel up to the camp ground by truck or 4 wheel drive. There was still snow and ice at the end of May! This was a beautiful campground settled in the mountains alongside a stream running with freshly melted snow. The hikes are breathtaking! We even came across an old avalanche. Super relaxing place. This is an off the grid campground. No showers or running water. There were some exceptionally clean bathroom outbuildings though. Bring plenty of firewood. Make sure to use the provided bear proof boxes too! We didn’t come across any bears, but we had a moose that frequented our site every morning! Lots of beautiful wildlife to see and hear. Pet friendly campsite and hiking!

A favorite hike-to of ours. A beautiful 8 mile hike up the mountain finished with secluded sites with gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains. Lots of wildlife, a bear cannister is required and provided at the parks Visitors Center when receiving your backcountry permit

The staff here was very friendly and helpful. We had our two dogs, and the staff helped guide us to several awesome hikes that were dog friendly that were great. Additionally, the staff were very helpful with offering tours to our schedule when we wanted them (kayaking). The park is located in Victor, ID on the other side of Teton Pass from Grand Teton National Park (the resort is about a half a mile from the center of town) Victor is a charming small town with several breweries and a locally sourced grocery market. We really enjoyed the town, especially compares to West Yellowstone, which is where we went next.

Crushed stone sites. Very tight. No shade. Very good laundry and rest rooms. Quiet. Good views. Nice pool and hot tub. They are doubling the size with construction under way. They are honest about the construction. The town and area are nice. 40 minutes over the pass to Jackson and Teton Park. Lots of access to hiking and mountain biking.
