About

County

Welcome to Memorial Park Campground, nestled near Washburn, WI. This charming spot is a favorite among campers for its prime location right on the shores of Lake Superior. If you're looking for a place with stunning lake views and a friendly atmosphere, you've found it.

The campground operates from May 15 to October 15, offering a mix of tent and RV sites. It's a first-come, first-served setup, so plan accordingly. One of the standout features here is the lake access—perfect for launching kayaks or just enjoying the serene waters. While there's no boat ramp, there are several nearby if you need one.

Visitors often rave about the beautiful sunrises over the lake and the mature pine forest that provides some much-needed shade. The campground is also close to town, making it convenient for quick trips to local brew houses and restaurants. There's a nice beach, a playground for the kids, and a pavilion for group activities.

Amenities include drinking water, electric hookups, showers, and toilets. Pets are welcome, and you can have a campfire, which is always a plus. Just remember, the showers are pay-per-use, so keep some change handy.

If you're into exploring, this campground is a great base for checking out nearby towns like Bayfield. Some campers have mentioned that it's a bit tight on space and lacks privacy, but the overall vibe is quiet and relaxed.

So, pack your gear and head over to Memorial Park Campground for a memorable stay by the lake. Whether you're here for a night or a week, you'll find plenty to enjoy.

Nice City Park Campground

Tight spaces, open fields and no privacy, but a great little campground. FCFS.  Quiet and only 30+ spots. Right on the lake. Great place to stop and tour the towns close by. Mostly closed mid-week, but some brew houses and restaurants open.

Great camp hosts, right on the Lake, friendly atmosphere

The campground was full when we pulled in at 6 pm but the hosts let us stay in an overflow area, right next to the lake. Lots of small rvs and tents, which we prefer to the big rv parks. It’s off the road but close to to town. We liked it a lot.

Lake Superior Views

Pros: great WiFi and beautiful sunrises.

Cons: pay showers and not reservable, first come, first served.

Tall trees and a beach close to town

This small campground is well kept and close to the main road. It’s a perfect place to stop for a night’s rest and close enough to Bayfield to be a base. The 2 main loops both start from the main road so be careful of traffic. There are a variety of sites to choose from but limited shade. There is a nice beach, playground and pavilion too. They were maintaining it when we stopped by.

We found a great restaurant down the road which also had vegetarian options. Their wholesome ingredients and friendly nature made our stop wondrous. The range of dishes made it a popular place with others too.

Nice area campground in Washburn, WI

This is much better than average for a community campground. The location is great if you would like access to the Lake, as well as being in between Ashland and Bayfield. A real plus here is the mature pine forest that shades the campsites here as opposed to the more open Thompson Park community campground nearby.  My preference if camping in the area would be the Dalrymple Park campground further north in Bayfield, but this campground would be a close second. Good bathrooms, good areas for group activities including large picnic shelter on the water, decent playground for kids.

Stunning wooded campground with lake access

This campground is on the north side of Washburn. This campground is more to my liking as it has all types of sites. There are open(meadow) sites as well as wooded tree sites. My favorite part is the lake access. Bring your kayaks and launch from here. Does not have a boat ramp but there are several in the area.

A resort of camping

This park was huge! So many sites for tents and RVs. Though, it was packed! We ended up staying here the whole day, but were not able to get a place.

For last minute planners, this might be tough.

If you can, it has everything you would need or want in a campground/park. Swimming, volleyball, GOLFING?!, nice bathrooms with showers. Though COVID has these closed.

If you enjoy a bit of glamping thos would be a good choice.

Great Basecamp for water sports

Great spot for an overnight or longer stay, especially if you bring a boat or kayak. Well kept grounds and amenities. A little expensive and no privacy keep it from 5 stars.

Lake Superior

Beautiful views. Within walking distance of downtown. Nice big wooded trees on a bluff -it's really nice! Can get busy and the campgrounds are close together but not too bad. Enjoyable overall experience.

South Shore Heaven

Camping along the South Shore of Lake Superior. Nice beautiful large trees. Beautiful views of Lake Superior. Watch the Sunrise over the lake, fall asleep to waves crashing ashore. Nice restrooms, showers and kids playground. Minuses are no swimming location and no separation between camping spots. So hope you have a good camping neighbor.
