Kreher RV Park sits directly on the shore of Chequamegon Bay in Ashland, Wisconsin, open from May 15 through October 15 at $45 to $50 per night for full hookup sites. Tent-only reservations are not permitted here. Tents are allowed only as secondary accommodations at sites where an RV is the primary occupant. Sites are spacious but lack tree cover, so shade is minimal and Lake Superior's cooler air tends to compensate during summer months.
The campground fills fast. Multiple reviewers note the park reaching capacity by mid-afternoon on busy days, with a steady stream of latecomers turned away by early evening. An overflow area in the adjacent marina parking lot can absorb additional rigs at $25 per night, though no hookups are available there. Reservations are accepted, which makes advance booking worth considering for anyone with a specific arrival date. Prentice Park Campground is another option in the area, though reviewers report it also fills quickly.
A paved bike trail connects directly from the campground to downtown Ashland and continues east along the lake to a public beach and a free artisan well. StillRVWanderer notes the trail "goes all the way to the end of town," passing under the highway to reach local shops, restaurants, and a grocery store. Walkers can also reach a section of an old ore dock within the park. The campground includes a playground, boat launch, and picnic tables with fire pits and grills at each site.
The shower house is code-access only, with private rooms, and multiple reviewers describe it as consistently clean. Cell coverage is solid, with strong T-Mobile 5G signal reported on-site. Some leveling is needed at most sites, but not significantly. For campers exploring the region, camping near Ashland turns up additional options across the area.
Campers who arrive early and secure a lakefront site will find water views and trail access within steps of their rig.
