ELKAMP EASTCREEK (formerly EASTCREEK Campground) is a short drive from Seattle or Portland, and the perfect home base for your next Western Cascade get away.

Our park-like grounds are nestled among a cathedral of trees at the foot of Mt. Rainer. Conveniently located just a 15 minute drive to the Nisqually Gate of the Mt. Rainer National Park, this entrance to the National Park is the only park gate remaining open year round assuring you'll find plenty to do regardless of the season.

ELKAMP (the name) was born out of the two words Elevated Camping and has come to define our thoughts and actions daily as it is our mission to  ELEVATE THE ART OF CAMPING for our guests. Starting this summer (June 2020) we will begin a multi-year property improvement plan aimed at providing you with a year-round cozy and comfortable camping resort, in spite of the forecast.

In the Fall of 2020 we'll begin hosting a variety of special programs and events aimed at enriching the experience here, so keep an eye on our website for more news from ELKAMP

Camp Murray Beach

The travel camp is open year-round. We have 48 full hook-up sites with cable television and currently five tent sites. Our campground is located on the shores of beautiful American Lake. For your convenience our campground has common areas that offer lounge areas with color television, coin operated washers and dryers and restrooms with shower facilities. On-site we have a sewage dump station for patron use. All full hook-up sites have individual sewer as well. We have a propane tank fill station, RV maintenance facility and a selection of RV accessories on-site.
May 1–Sept 30: Guests may stay in a site for a 14-day period. Patrons may not exceed 14 days per campsite. If other campsites are available on checkout day, you may move to another site for an additional 14 days. After your one extension, you may not return to the park until the winter season.
• Guests may stay in a site for a 28-day period per calendar month. Patrons may not exceed 28 days per campsite. If other campsites are available on checkout day, you may move to another site for an additional 28 days.
• Payment in full is required for RV Park reservations.

Travel Camp Reservations
All of our 48 sites are reservation only. Reservations may be accepted up to one year in advance. Cancellations or changes must be made 30 days prior to day of check-in to receive a full refund. From 30 days until 7 days prior to check-in, a 75% refund will be granted. Cancellations made within 7 days prior to the day of check-in will receive a 50% refund.

Check-in is at noon and checkout is at 11 a.m. After business hours, the camp hosts are responsible for check-in/checkout. To reserve visit this link (on desktop computer) or call 253-967-7744. Currently, only campgrounds are available to reserve online, cabins are not reservable again yet.

Alder Lake Park

Situated in the vicinity of majestic Mount Rainier, Big Creek is a family campground nestled among Douglas firs, hemlock, alders and maples. The lush vegetation offers plenty of privacy between sites. The sites at Big Creek form a loop, with only a handful of sites sitting along the banks of Big Creek. Open from mid-May through late September, Big Creek provides an alternative to the campgrounds at Mount Rainier National Park, which can get very crowded during the summer. Recreation Anglers can try their luck at catching brook trout in Big Creek or for those looking to explore the area, the Osborne Mountain Trail starts at the campground. The route is steep, but the scenery is amazing, and the trail can be traversed by foot, horse, mountain bike or dirt bike. Facilities The campground requires vehicles to have a relatively tight turning radius. Big Creek can accommodate tents, trailers and RVs, with a maximum vehicle length of 22 feet. Some parking spurs are paved; others are native moss and dirt. Some sites have rocks or heavy vegetation, which may make it difficult to pitch a tent. Drinking water is available, but there are no hot showers available onsite. Vault toilets are provided as well as a pedestal grill, fire pit and picnic table at each site. Gray water disposal facilities are located throughout the campground. Natural Features Located in southwest Washington State, the Gifford Pinchot National Forest encompasses over 1.3 million acres and includes the 110,000-acre Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument established by Congress in 1982. Big Creek is located in the Cowlitz Valley Ranger District, the northernmost portion of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. This Ranger District manages four Wilderness Areas including the Goat Rocks Wilderness, Glacier View Wilderness, Tatoosh Wilderness and William O' Douglass Wilderness. The Cowlitz Valley Ranger District is roughly located among three volcanic peaks: Mt. Rainier to the north, Mt. Adams to the east, and Mt. St. Helens to the west, providing visitors with a unique geological landscape. Nearby Attractions Big Creek is 6 miles from the Nisqually entrance of Mount Rainier National Park. The popular Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise is 21 miles away, and the nearby town of Ashford offers restaurants, along with a few art galleries and shops. contact_info This location has limited staffing. Big Creek Campground

The Sahara Creek DNR Horse Camp, maintained by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, lies just a stone's throw from the entrance to Mount Rainier National Park. The camp provides great access to the state-managed Elbe Hills and Tahoma State Forests through the Nicholson Horse Trail System. Campground has 20 campsites, picnic tables, hitching rails, and vault toilets.

The Nicholson Horse Trail System has been maintained especially for equestrian use, with wide trails and sturdy bridges providing safe, enjoyable passage for all.

The Emerald City is one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier cities and a popular place to stop. While the city doesn’t offer many camping or RV options, it’s rich in amenities and is a great visit on your way to any of Washington’s parks.

The best camping near Seattle is on Blake Island State Park, though it’s only accessible by boat. If that doesn’t bother you, the park is a beautiful place to be during summer evenings. Seattle tends to be a popular stop for travelers heading to campsites in Olympic National Park near Port Angeles, WA. The surrounding Olympic National Forest is also a great choice if you can’t get one of the campgrounds you were hoping for at Olympic.
