ScoutWe were lied to and ignored. Conditions were very poor at the beginning of May. That can certainly be expected with the flooding in the area, though that was not known to us until arrival. It wiped out their entire campground, leveled their bathhouse, and even moved their office building several feet. Many of their sites were out of commission. This left very poor conditions, and their recovery planned involved the use of a few port-a-shower/toilets. The water barely trickled and was only cold. We could not stay there. The caretaker of the campground appeared understanding and said that he would have my money refunded for the week. That STILL has NOT happened! They don't respond to phone calls, voice mails, or emails. Definitely beware of businesses like this!!!! I am sorry to have to give them 1-Star.
ScoutNice clean place. Right next to river. A bit noisy since the RV sites are next to the road & railway is across from river. Pet friendly & nice size bundles of firewood for $10. They even come by in the morning to pock up your trash. Wish we had more time to take a float down river, they rent kayak & tubes.
GuideBluebird Campground was one of three camps in this section of the park. 12 sites in the primitive section were all next to a medium-sized creek with rapidly running water. Great hiking trails, though not really scenic, some are challenging, and the one I hiked with my dog was muddy with tiny creeks running through and large logs in the trail to traverse. The sites were very spacious and relatively private from other campers but the road was a few feet away with light traffic on the weekday. The speed limit was 10 mph,so not to disturbing.

We stayed in site 8 and it was one of the few sites that did not have much shade cover but other wise no complaints! Bathrooms were clean and maintained!

Bathrooms at the campground are not great. They women’s is better then the men’s. Needs to coat of paint but they are decently clean.
Scoutjust off the highway but easily accessible, everything works, friendly staff. Showers in bathhouse are a bit dirty but other than that great!
LegendFHU. Sites not level. Very narrow sites. Some full time residents’ rigs give the Breaking Bad class C a run for their money, if they run. Only campground close to Roanoke Va. Moldy rv’s, broken picnic tables, and rutted roads. The staff is nice. Have stayed here before so I knew how bad it was but needed to visit family in Roanoke.
GuideLocated not too far from I-81, easy to get to. This CG does a lot of overnight business, there is a parade of campers arriving from mid afternoon to after dark. In the morning there is a gradual exodus. Sites are mostly level, hookups are convenient. Located adjacent to a sheep and cow ranch. You can hear almost constant road noise if you are outside, not too much inside the your camper. There is a pool but it was closed when we were there. Staff are helpful. Restrooms are clean. CG has a laundry.
We stayed there twice on the same trip (April 2025), once going then returning. We would stay there again.

There is no internet access but there is enough signal you can get text sometimes. You need to drive about ten minutes to the gas station to get dependable coverage.
