Reservations are available at Eggleston Springs Campground, a privately operated site in Pembroke, Virginia, running $30 to $50 per night with full hookup options for RVs up to 40 feet. Drive-in access keeps the approach straightforward, and the owner lives on the property, selling firewood and running a small on-site store. Sites sit directly against the river, giving campers immediate water access for cooling off on warm days.
The river is the campground's defining feature. The water runs clear, and the palisades visible from the area draw consistent mention in reviews. One noise source worth knowing about: a train crosses the river on the opposite bank every few hours. Amanda J. describes the setting as "right up against the river with beautiful mountain back drop." Most sites include electric hookups and a fire pit. The campground also hosts a number of long-term residents, so the atmosphere tends toward a lived-in, established feel rather than a remote backcountry experience.
Cell service gets limited mention in reviews, so campers relying on connectivity should plan accordingly. The bathhouse has faced flood damage in recent history, which affected site availability and facilities during recovery. Nearby alternatives for campers building a longer itinerary in the region include New River Junction Campground and Whitt Riverbend Park. Calling ahead before arrival is advisable, particularly after heavy rain, to confirm current site and facility conditions.

Map & DirectionsEggleston Springs Campground is located in Virginia near Pembroke
Directions
We are located a little over 4 miles from Rt. 460 and 8 miles from Rt. 100. Eggleston road is curvy at parts and drivers with bigger campers need to be advised. We frequently accommodate up to 42' fifth wheels, but we still like to warn people about the curves. We do not recommend any of the larger Class A motorhomes trying to make the trip. You will see a sign at both entrances onto Eggleston Rd. that says that the road is not recommended for tractor trailers.
