    Woodland Lakes RV Park

    Extremely Nice Park with Ducks!

Extremely nice RV park with large spaces and gravel parking area. Spaces are wide and have a picnic table on a concrete pad. Electric and water is separated, I hate it when water is on the electrical box! Internet speed is really good and they have cable TV hookups. Two laundry facilities, multiple dumpsters, kids play area, dog run, and multiple fishing ponds. There are a lot of long term patrons but still a good number of back in and pull through spots available for short-term. If you need to be in the north Houston area, definitely highly recommended.

    USA RV Resorts Marina Bay

    Central location in Kemah, TX

New, smaller park with all the amenities. Level concrete pads will accommodate RVs up to 40 feet. All are back in sites with sewer, city water, 20/30/50 amp power, cable TV, and WiFi included. There’s a nice club house for parties, laundry facilities, a pool next to the bayou, fishing and kayaking/canoeing in the bayou and a friendly staff that keeps the park clean and cared for.

    South Main RV Park

Good for proximity to NRG stadium

My husband and I came to the Houston rodeo and stayed here strictly for proximity to the stadium. The RV park did have a shuttle which was very nice to get us to and from. Most sites are large enough for big rigs, you do have to park on the gravel right in front of your rig which can be tight. Nice concrete pads at each site. Traffic can be loud and there are many full-time set ups here with permanent residents. Has a gate with a code so it did feel safe at night. Small dog park that could use some extra TLC. Laundry on premises, no play ground, good wifi and Verizon service.

    Stagecoach RV Park

Clean, well kept and friendly host.

This is more like a mobile home park for RV’s than a camping experience. Each space is a pull through that has a picnic table and full hookups including sewer. Most sites have trees. Most spaces are occupied by long term tenants as evidenced by skirting around the rigs. Evidently several children live here as well. There is a dedicated area to take dogs so they can do their business.
Quite a few speed bumps. No gates so anyone can enter/exit at will. Laundry room and bathrooms have locks. Bathrooms are clean and free hot water. Pool/hot tub were closed. I stayed 3 nights in April. It felt safe, so I’d stay here again. People said hello when walking and waved when they drove by.

Worst thing was the number of speed bumps…useful but not really RV friendly. I’ve added photos, and although I copied them from another source, they are valid photos of what I saw and experienced.

Stephen F. Austin State Park Campground

    Pleasant Texas State Park

We had a really nice relaxing stay at Stephen F Austin State Park near San Filepe, Texas. Great little state park easily accessed from I-10. The 38 RV sites are all asphalt pad pull throughs with 30/15 amp electric, water and sewer complete with concrete pad for table, fire pit, lantern and all well spaced for plenty of privacy...big rig friendly. They have an additional 39 tent only sites with water and 25 primitive. Screened shelters are reservable for tent camping with 20 amp electric and water plus one rustic cabin with amenities. There is a$5 daily entrance fee in addition to camping fees. The bathhouse facilities are brand new. It's a small park but they do have five miles of trails for hiking/biking with views of the Brazos River. We enjoyed the wildlife; deer strolling in the campground every morning and evening, birds, rabbits, frogs, turtles, a bobcat and numerous owls. They have a Nature Center; however it was not open during our visit. The park office has a small store with sundries and park souvenirs. The nearby San Felipe de Austin State Historic Site tells the story of early settlers to Texas and is worth a visit. We made a run to the nearby town of Sealy to do a much needed laundry stop...small community with grocery, dining and fuel to meet most needs. Southlake RV Resort

    Nice clean park

The park is VERY clean and also quiet! It’s close to everything so thats a major plus. However it does have A LOT of rules. Also, a lot of long term residents live here. The back in spots are a little tight so if you’re not great at backing in just get a pull through. The facilities are immaculate . It’s been worth the price so far.

Guide to Sugar Land

RV campgrounds near Sugar Land, Texas provide easy access to Houston's attractions while maintaining proximity to suburban conveniences. Located in Fort Bend County at an elevation of 96 feet above sea level, Sugar Land experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly reaching 90-100°F from June through September. Winter overnight temperatures can occasionally dip below freezing during December and January, making proper RV heating systems essential during those months.

What to do

Visit Tom Bass Park: Campers at Houston / Med Center KOA Holiday appreciate the adjacent Tom Bass Park with its extensive trail system. "Great campground with wonderful staff who are very friendly... The best thing about the location is that it backs up to Tom Bass park that has wonderful dog parks along with playgrounds and frisbee golf," notes Tawnya.

Explore Houston Museum District: The Sugar Land area provides convenient access to Houston's cultural attractions. "About 15 minutes from museum district and downtown," reports Jason S. from Medical Center RV Resort, making day trips to museums straightforward for campers.

Enjoy poolside relaxation: Many RV parks in the area feature swimming pools for hot Texas days. "The pool was so fancy and the water was lukewarm from the warm son so night swims were the best. They have adult pool hours from 8pm-10pm so. Bring your cocktails and music and have a good time!" says Marie B. about her stay at Highway 6 RV Resort.

What campers like

Clean facilities: RV campgrounds near Sugar Land consistently receive praise for cleanliness. "The property is well maintained. Outdoor kitchens for use. The pool is small and not deep but is still enjoyable. Pretty lakes with fish," notes Kimberly N. about her stay at Lakeview RV Resort.

Security features: Many campers appreciate the security measures at local RV parks. "The entire park is fenced. There is a locked gate at the entrance. Residents have a code to open the gate or a remote gate opener can be used if a deposit is paid for the device," explains Ben W. about Highway 6 RV Resort.

Medical facility access: Several campgrounds cater to visitors with medical appointments. "We stayed here for five days while visiting MD Anderson... A shuttle ran between the park and MD Anderson which made it very convenient for us," reports Holly D. about her experience at Lakeview RV Resort.

What you should know

Site layouts vary significantly: Some parks have spacious sites while others are more compact. "Wide roads to maneuver and large spaces made it easy to get in and get setup, no cars clogging the lanes," reports Nathan about Medical Center RV Resort.

Highway noise considerations: Many parks are located near major roads, affecting noise levels. "It is relatively quiet and there are a lot of amenities. The noise is from the roadway and it isn't horrible," explains Shelly W. about Lakeview RV Resort.

Utilities and hookup quality: Full hookup sites are standard but can have variations. "Level concrete pads. Overall we were pleased with our time here," notes Al09 S. about Highway 6 RV Resort, while Bill L. mentions about Shiloh RV Park: "This looks to be an older park so the widths are a bit smaller but manageable but the price makes up for any misgivings."

Tips for camping with families

Dog-friendly amenities: Many campgrounds offer specialized pet facilities. "They have 2 dog runs, one of them being the largest dog run we've seen at a campground so our mali really got to sprint it out. They also had a free dog wash!" shares Marie B. about Highway 6 RV Resort.

Pool access timing: During summer months, pools become essential amenities but may have restricted hours. "The sparkling pool used to be a great way to cool off on a hot day," notes Stef H., while another camper mentions "They were just starting to open up after COVID 19 so there were some restrictions. We were only allowed to sit by the pool for an hour but it was worth it."

Kid-friendly park selection: Not all RV campgrounds in the Sugar Land area cater equally to children. "Great for adults, not really anywhere for little kids to play besides the pool," notes Whitney V. about Lakeview RV Resort.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling preparation: Several campers note issues with uneven sites at some parks. "This is a brand new park, yet some of the concrete slabs are unlevel. Perhaps the most unlevel that we've experienced in our travels," reports kristin S. about Eric & Jay's RV Resort.

Wi-Fi connectivity solutions: Internet access varies significantly between campgrounds. "The internet situation had us scratching our heads. They have a 'no wifi' slogan, and the campground wifi is rendered obsolete within the confines of your designated space, instead favoring a hard-wired ethernet connection to your router," explains kristin S.

Gate access procedures: First-time visitors should understand entry protocols. "Upon arrival, we used the address provided and it led us to a locked gate that required a code. We had no code and the driveway was so short, it had our trailer sticking out into the road as we tried to figure out how to check-in," shares kristin S. about arrival confusion.
