Houston / Med Center KOA Holiday

Great rv campground close to airport

Great campground with wonderful staff who are very friendly. Full hookup, paved sites with heated saltwater pool and hot tub, workout facilities, clubhouse with games and puzzles, laundry facilities, a small camp store, and pet friendly with two small dog parks. The best thing about the location is that it backs up to Tom Bass park that has wonderful dog parks along with playgrounds and frisbee golf. Would definitely be staying here again!

      Traders Village RV Park

Houston, Tx…..Nothing to get excited about

It’s a large campground and spaces are very small. There’s a grass strip between camp sites. No picnic tables or grills. The office gave us a map and showed us how to get to our site but virtually impossible to understand. A very nice gentleman that stayed here took us to our site. He said they have no idea how to do directions and a buddy of his really messed up his camper by trolling around looking for their site. It’s very crowded and no room for awnings or for both campers side by side to put out awnings. There is a pool but it doesn’t look well maintained and there’s absolutely no chairs. Just the pool and it’s small. Laundry room is large. There’s no dog park or anywhere to walk your dog. Signs everywhere that say no pets, yet they are allowed. The flea market is only on the wknd. It’s close to a lot of restaurants and in a nice area.

Houston / Med Center KOA Holiday

      A lot of Amenities

The park is clean, but the sites are tight. The further you get to the front the louder the traffic noise is, but the sites are larger and spaced out more. It is a five and take. It has three locations with washer and dryers, two dog parks, a recreation room and easy access to Tom Bass park.

      Thousand Trails Lake Conroe

Could use updates to some sites

We spend Thanksgiving in this campground. We arrived shortly after checkin and had limited selection of sites. The person at checkin did have a good site recommendation. Beware that not all sites have full hookups. For the size of the place I would have explained small convenience store but they only had ice. Our site backed up to some trees so that was nice. Good dog park and plenty of activities available. I walk the dog a lot and run and road around the grounds needs to be repaved, lots of pot holes and uneven areas.

      South Main RV Park

Good for proximity to NRG stadium

My husband and I came to the Houston rodeo and stayed here strictly for proximity to the stadium. The RV park did have a shuttle which was very nice to get us to and from. Most sites are large enough for big rigs, you do have to park on the gravel right in front of your rig which can be tight. Nice concrete pads at each site. Traffic can be loud and there are many full-time set ups here with permanent residents. Has a gate with a code so it did feel safe at night. Small dog park that could use some extra TLC. Laundry on premises, no play ground, good wifi and Verizon service.

      7 Bridges Luxury RV Resort

Nice but lacks in a few things

The dog park is horrible. It’s all sand and no bag dispenser like other “luxury” resorts have had. The internet is not good at all…tv cut out every two minutes. Nice pool. No trash pick up on Memorial Day and the dumpster was overflowing by that afternoon. Site 55 is NOT for RVs over 36 feet. We have a 42 ft fifth wheel and it was horrible trying to get into the spot.

    Guide to Spring

Pet-friendly camping options near Spring, Texas offer diverse accommodations within 20 miles of Houston's northern suburbs. The region features thick pine forests with sandy soil and average summer temperatures around 95°F, creating an environment where shade becomes especially valuable during camping trips. Seasonal rainfall patterns affect trail conditions with particularly wet periods in spring and early fall.

    What to do

Explore wooded hiking trails: Lake Houston Wilderness Park maintains over 20 miles of trails through varying terrain, perfect for leashed pet walks. "Lots to explore, neat bridges, cabin options, ranger programs, horse trails, kayaking, wildlife. Modern recently updated facilities," notes Harry H. The park's Isabella Trail leads to a secluded lake accessible only by hiking.

Try fishing: Lone Star Lakes RV Park provides easy access to their 4-acre private fishing lake. "Free fishing in their 4 acre private lake," mentions Phil G. The park maintains exceptionally clean grounds with staff regularly maintaining the property.

Visit nearby attractions: Traders Village RV Park offers camping adjacent to the popular Houston flea market. "Perfect with families with kids to wake up and go shopping and cheap all day pass rides!! This place is a Must go!!!" writes Roxanne G. The market operates primarily on weekends with short walking distance from campsites.

    What campers like

Concrete pads: Northlake RV Resort offers level concrete pads that provide stable setup options. "Spot are very bigs with pincnic table and concrete roads," notes Milagros B. The resort maintains clean facilities including pool areas and designated dog amenities.

Swimming access: Thousand Trails Lake Conroe provides multiple water recreation options with both lake access and swimming pools. "Gorgeous campground with a large lake and two ponds, a pool, putt putt, & tons of activities for kids!" says Nick & Allyssa S. The property includes a beach area for families and pets.

Shade coverage: Forest Retreat RV Park offers sites with substantial tree cover. "Excellent park; large concrete level sites," reports Mindy G. The grounds are well-maintained with particular attention to cleanliness throughout common areas.

    What you should know

Varying cancellation policies: Most campgrounds require 24-48 hour cancellation notice for refunds. Check specific policies when booking as some resorts have stricter requirements during peak seasons.

Seasonal considerations: Summer temperatures frequently exceed 90°F with high humidity. Most campgrounds offer some form of shade, but air conditioning access becomes essential between June and September.

Access limitations: Some parks have specific operating hours. "Well we called and called to make reservations but no answer or call back. Noticed the visitors center was closed on Tuesdays... Got there and the gates are locked," reports David T. about Lake Houston Wilderness Park. Always verify operating hours before arrival.

    Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Lake Houston Wilderness Park offers designated programming for younger campers. "Plenty of trails, wildlife, bathrooms and good fishing. We go here a lot! It's always good fun! And very clean," shares Amanda C. The park maintains ranger-led educational programs during summer months.

Swimming options: Multiple parks offer swimming pools that provide safer alternatives to lake swimming for children. Look for parks with designated shallow areas or scheduled lifeguard hours.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Morning and evening hours provide the best wildlife viewing opportunities. "Lots of wildlife in this park, saw many snakes in camp and on the trails," notes Emily S. Remind children about proper wildlife observation distances.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection considerations: When booking RV sites, check for width specifications. "The spaces are wide with picnic tables on concrete pads, giving pets and owners comfortable outdoor living space," notes the Woodland Lakes RV Park's layout. Many parks have limited big rig access despite advertising otherwise.

Navigation challenges: Several parks have complicated internal road systems. "The office gave us a map and showed us how to get to our site but virtually impossible to understand," reports Douglas T. about Traders Village RV Park. Consider requesting an escort to your site when checking in at larger facilities.

Extended stay options: For longer visits, inquire about weekly or monthly rates which often provide significant discounts. Many parks offer 10-30% lower rates for stays exceeding 7 days with full hookup availability.
