Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Robstown, TX

Lake Corpus Christi State Park Campground accommodates pets with designated pet-friendly tent sites, RV spots, and cabins. Dogs must remain on leashes no longer than 6 feet at all times, and owners are required to clean up after their pets throughout the park. Mustang Island State Park Campground also welcomes pets with similar leash requirements, offering both tent and RV camping options along the coastline. Sea Breeze RV Community Resort provides a dedicated pet run area where dogs can exercise off-leash, with facilities including drinking water stations and waste disposal bins. Many campgrounds in the area enforce quiet hours that apply to barking dogs, with some parks limiting pets to two per site. The campgrounds feature spacious sites with concrete pads that keep pets cleaner during wet weather. Stickers in grass areas can be problematic for dogs' paws at several locations.

Padre Island National Seashore offers primitive beach camping where leashed pets are welcome, with both North Beach and South Beach areas accessible for different vehicle types. Pet owners should be aware that coyotes are active in several campgrounds, particularly IB Magee Beach County Park where unattended pets are at risk. The coastal location provides excellent opportunities for dogs to enjoy shoreline walks, though owners should bring fresh water as salt water isn't suitable for pet consumption. Several RV parks feature fenced dog areas, including Puerto Del Sol RV Park and Hitching Post RV Park, both within 30 minutes of Robstown. Burrs and stickers become more problematic during dry seasons, with multiple reviewers noting the need for careful paw checking after walks. Most campgrounds require vaccination records for pets, and the nearest emergency veterinary services are located in Corpus Christi, approximately 20 minutes from Robstown.

    Mustang Hollow Campground

    Campground needs TLC

Fine place to stop on the way through and very friendly staff. There is a petting zoo with miniature donkeys and horses, goats and emus! This was a wonderful treat feeding the critters. Sites are small, dirt and uneven. Pictures show a playground, dog park, etc., however, none of these things exist. It looks like they did at one point, but not in the last decade. No atvs or activities listed on website which was frustrating for the kids. Lake was entirely dry—of course no fault of the campground, but didn’t allow for fishing, etc. There were plenty of sites available but we were placed right by the train tracks and main highway. I do understand why, though, because there are quite a few permanent folks toward the back of the park.

    Southern Oaks Luxury RV Park

Nice, clean place to stay a while.

We stayed for four nights and we enjoyed our stay. The roads and pads were all nice, level concrete.

I didn't see the pool myself, but my wife and daughter enjoyed it while I was at work. The playgrounds were nice, but could use some more shade. Same with the dog park.

The dog water fountains at the dog park were not working, so that would have been nice since it is so hot right now. The dog park is just open space with a fence right now, but the front desk said there are agility features coming soon.

The grass and trees were clean and trimmed, but there are stickers in the grass, so beware stepping off the concrete pad barefoot.

    Copano Bay RV Resort

This is a lovely ran RV resort.

The manager is very friendly. They have laundry. They provide quarters for purchase. They have a fishing dock off the campground. A pool. And a dog park.

    Taylor Oaks RV Park

Not my favorite way to camp but the price was right

Not my favorite way to camp, but the price was right. We were pretty cramped but the whole place was very quiet. There weren't any kids at all, other than ours. Dog friendly environment but none running loose at all. There was a friendly peacock wandering about who loved grapes.

    Easy parking, pull through spots.

The laundry room was very clean which was much appreciated. $1.75 per washer & dryer.

We were parked right across from the owners/manager which was fine, just felt a bit like we were watched. Mind you, we're used to being in the middle of no where though😂. Owners helped us park and have been super friendly the whole time.

There's a small dog park across from the rv park, which was full of burrs and mosquitoes unfortunately. Apparently they are both bad this year.

It was only 0.4 miles to the water and 1 mile to rockport beach- we biked and walked.. it was a nice area to explore. Photo is from rockport beach taken in November.

Recently stayed here cause we got in late and they were the only 1 open to take us in. Well lighten up and loved the laundry room. The manager came out to settle up the next morning and even gave us a free rv mug for our stay. Pet friendly.  Showers  were nice & clean! Wish the pool was open because we had to stay another night but we were told it will be ready soon. The friendly German Shepherd was a bonus since we had our pets out and seems to be unbothered them😳. We will be back for sure. Thank you for the pleasant stay.

    Goose Island State Park Campground

Large campsites, but lots of mosquitoes

large well spaced out campsites. Allows pets. Quiet. Great area if you like to fish. Only downside was lots of bugs, especially mosquitoes.

Guide to Robstown

Lake Corpus Christi State Park sits about 20 miles northwest of Robstown at an elevation of approximately 42 feet above sea level. The lake spans roughly 21,000 acres when at full capacity, though water levels fluctuate seasonally. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 95°F, making shade a premium commodity at many of the region's camping areas.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Lake Corpus Christi State Park Campground offers an aluminum floating fishing pier with a covered cleaning pavilion. "Great aluminum floating fishing pier with a covered fish cleaning pavilion," notes a camper, who also mentions "howling coyotes nightly" as part of the experience.

Beach exploration: At Mustang Island State Park Campground, visitors can enjoy both bay and ocean access. A camper shares, "One side is the bay and the other is the ocean, lovely water views everywhere. Some of the beach shelters are pretty cool but everything is still exposed to the weather (heat, sun, wind) and your neighbors."

Wildlife viewing: Lake shorelines attract various bird species and turtles. One visitor to Lake Corpus Christi reports, "The campground has a good view of the water and is near the fishing pier. Saw turtles near it in the lake."

What campers like

Spacious sites: Lake Corpus Christi State Park offers generously sized camping areas. According to a recent visitor, "Very large spacious campsite. Restroom and shower located very close by. Camped site 60/61. Beautiful grounds. Lake walking distance."

Affordable rates: North Beach — Padre Island National Seashore provides budget-friendly camping options. "You can go quite a bit further than the pin and camp with NO permit. With that said, this is a beach with nothing around it and no facilities," explains one visitor who appreciates the simplicity.

Swimming options: Some campgrounds offer pools as alternatives to lake swimming. Sea Breeze RV Community Resort includes this amenity, with one camper noting, "They have a pool, it's nice and quiet at night time and the fishing is the best!"

What you should know

Water level fluctuations: Lake levels can change dramatically, affecting boat access and shoreline camping. One visitor to Lake Corpus Christi State Park observed, "Water is really low so no boat access, still beaches though. Surprisingly nice place."

Limited hiking options: Wilderness Lakes RV Resort offers proximity to multiple attractions despite minimal trail systems. A long-term camper shares, "Driving distance to Corpus, Port Aransas, Padre, Victoria, King ranch. We visited all these places. Right next to Corpus Christi Lake & park."

Wind exposure: Coastal locations experience consistent strong winds. At Mustang Island, a camper noted, "It was surprisingly windy to be behind a dune, but since it's still the beach, that's somewhat expected."

Tips for camping with families

Beach shelter planning: When camping with children at beach locations, preparation for sun exposure is essential. A Mustang Island visitor advises, "Don't expect much from this state park. It's basically just a beach. There are camping sites. For RVs. There are no trees at the camp sites. So if you go in the hot months, you'd better have a canopy."

Pet-friendly activities: Puerto Del Sol RV Park offers dog-friendly campgrounds near Robstown with waterfront sites. "My site was right on the gulf and the view was great. Very friendly office staff. Level site with full hookups," shares one visitor, highlighting the accessible shoreline perfect for dog walks.

Wildlife education opportunities: Several dog-accommodating campgrounds near Robstown feature natural habitats for learning experiences. At Lake Corpus Christi, a family camper recounts, "We camped with 2 kids and a dog and had a great time. There was fishing and a lake some were swimming in. We searched for wildlife and made s'mores."

Tips from RVers

Site layout considerations: Some campgrounds have unusual configurations that affect comfort. At Mustang Island, one RVer cautions, "I'm not sure who came up with the layout of the sites here but it is beyond bizarre. The utilities are on the wrong side of camper and your site is behind your camper in a shared space."

Seasonal pest management: For those traveling with pets to pet-friendly RV parks near Robstown, insect control is crucial. At Sea Breeze RV Resort, a camper warns, "The ants are terrible. We ended up having an infestation of fire ants in our water bay that we're currently trying to get rid of. There are ants all over the park. Be careful where you step and bring diatomaceous earth and fire ant killer."

Security features: Hitching Post RV Park provides amenities for extended stays. A long-term RVer notes, "The staff was incredibly friendly and nice, the club house bathrooms and showers were very clean, laundromat and propane refills onsite at a good price."
