Campgrounds near Laredo, Texas range from established parks to recreational vehicle accommodations, with Lake Casa Blanca International State Park serving as the primary public camping destination. Located approximately 5 miles east of downtown Laredo, this park offers both tent and RV camping with electricity and water hookups at most sites. Several commercial options are available in nearby Zapata, approximately 50 miles south, including Amigo Inn & RV Park, which provides full hookup sites and cabin accommodations. Most campgrounds in the area are developed facilities rather than primitive or dispersed camping areas.

The South Texas climate significantly impacts camping conditions, with extreme summer heat often exceeding 100°F from June through September. Winter months (November-February) offer more moderate temperatures suitable for outdoor activities. "The park was booked to capacity," noted one visitor, highlighting the importance of advance reservations, especially during cooler seasons and holidays. Most campgrounds provide electrical hookups essential for air conditioning during warmer months. The terrain around Laredo is predominantly flat brush country with limited natural shade. Lake Casa Blanca State Park features paved roads accessible to most vehicles, while some private RV parks may have unpaved sections requiring caution during rainy periods.

Water access represents a significant draw for campers in this semi-arid region. Lake Casa Blanca offers fishing, boating, and swimming opportunities that receive positive mentions in visitor reviews. As one camper noted, "The lake is beautiful and it has a rocky shore area... better than high grass or sand especially with kids." Wildlife viewing opportunities exist throughout the region, with several reviews mentioning bird watching as a highlight. Most campgrounds provide basic amenities including picnic tables and fire rings, though fire restrictions may apply during drought conditions. Cell service remains generally reliable throughout the camping areas near Laredo, making this region suitable for those needing to stay connected while camping. Weekends typically see higher occupancy rates at the established campgrounds, particularly during cooler months.

Lake Casa Blanca International State Park Campground

Green Jays flew through the campsite

Birding paradise. This was the first of the Texas State Parks I stayed in. I bought a state park pass which proved to be a good deal. Every employee I encountered in the state parks was helpful and friendly.

Lake Casa Blanca International State Park Campground

      Great Location, Lots To Do

Several beginners bike trails. Fishing and boating at the lake. Great family area with picnic tables and playground. Nice beach area. Extremely nice staff always willing to do more for you to enjoy your stay. Large rig drive though. Each campsite has a covered area. Restrooms are clean and maintained. Visitation parking in each campsite loop.

Cotulla Fish Hatchery & RV Park

      Rustic Charm

All sites have FHU. 6 sites are 30 Amp only all others are 50 amp. There is fishing and wildlife galore. We saw deer, pigs, chickens and lots of fish!!!! It is a bit eclectic but the owner is a very kind elderly gentleman who goes out of his way to make you feel at home. The laundry room was spotless, and prices were reasonable. It is only 166.00 per week. If it had bathhouses, I would give it more stars.

Lake Casa Blanca International State Park Campground

      Quiet and Fun!

Lake Casa Blanca is nice because you are surrounded by a bustling city but it feels as if you are deep in the woods. The lake is beautiful and it has a rocky shore area... better than high grass or sand especially with kidos. The park is pretty empty which allows for privacy. Bike trails are fun and fishing is good. Caught many catfish midday along the shore line. There are no shade trees which is a con but I’m not paying the electric bill :)

Pretty safe in my opinion and will be back again. Snakes were seen but Texas will have those no matter what park you go to.

Everything functions, we almost had the park to ourselves. Can see signs that some work is needed. Lake level has dropped so much, it is no longer lakefront.
