Clean and Fun Stay, Our Dogs Loved It!

What a lovely stay! The facilities were all very clean and updated. The stocked fish pond was beautiful and the dog park was also nice. There were always some friendly pups there when we took our dogs. There's a greenbelt walk right next to the site we were at as well. Bikes to rent, friendly staff, happy campers all over, what more can you ask?

    Travelers World RV Resort

    Top notch RV resort.

It is almost exactly what you’d expect and want. A pricey place to stay, but very close to downtown San Antonio with all the amenities and services you would expect to find and a high end RV resort. Laundry, a dog park, free WiFi, large paved roads and well spaced sites. Showers were in great shape and staff were incredibly friendly. If you have the cash and want to be close to downtown, this is the place!

    Great stop

We stayed here for two days. Gated community with coin laundromat that is open 24/7. Full showers and bathrooms, full hook ups, and a little RV parts store in the office. There is a pool, playground, and dog park on site. Management is very kind and helpful.

    Fort Sam Houston Army RV

    Great campground

We were here for two weeks visiting our son and daughter in law. It was a great place to base camp while we explored and visited. Concrete pads, level, full hookups, spacious sites. Picnic tables and grills on each site also. The laundry was small but very clean and nice. Bath house was clean also even if a bit older. Lots of trees and shade in areas. A small dog park for off leash was available. Office was available and very nice staff. Lots of grassy areas to walk our dog. We truly enjoyed our stay here!

    Blazing Star Luxury RV Resort

    Great place to escape hurricanes

We hid from Hurricane Delta here for 3 nights and had a great time. The staff are friendly and professional. The grounds, pool, children’s playground, Bocchy Ball lane, and store are immaculate. Two sizes of dog parks for large and small breeds. I saw a mailbox in their office for outgoing mail & what appeared to be an incoming pkg for a guest there. They have 3 large dumpsters for campground trash.

For Handicapped Accessability: Do not accept a pad in the 100 row as they are not as wheelchair accessable as the 200 row of pads. I don’t know about the 300 to 800 rows of pads.

I applied a complimentary BS sticker on my camper’s stern. We will stop there again.

    Still nice 7 years later

Stopped here a second time, 7 years after our first visit. Still a nice spot for exploring The Alamo, San Antonio Missions, Riverwalk, and more. Bus stop right in front to get to main attractions. Several nice bathrooms/shower buildings. Great walking trail for pets

    Mission City RV Park, TX

Located on the Eastern side of San Antonio, the park is located only a short 10 minute drive away from the famous Riverwalk or popular restaurants and breweries at the historic pearl.

The park is gated and beautifully maintained. There is a heated pool, spacious pet area with benches and toys for your furry friends. The bathrooms were very clean and well kept. The showers almost made us feel at home!

There is a convenient store with anything you may have forgotten and the owners were very kind. We needed to stay after check out when our car was being worked on and they were accommodating and did not charge us for a late check out.

    Choke Canyon Estate RV Park

    Decent for short term

Ok for short stay or if you are a worker and not in the park a lot. Road nice is really loud even in the back of the park. Construction company behind is loud too. Laundry and rec room were nice. Several dogs run loose through the park. Be prepared to pick up poop so you don't step in it. Crawfish shrimp and crab stand on the weekend makes great food. Dog area isn't fenced so if your dog is a runner this won't hold them.

The view of the lake from our site was awesome and there was a hiking trail right behind our spot," notes Rebeca L. The park maintains shoreline fishing access even during low water periods.

Wildlife observation: 30 minutes before sunrise provides optimal viewing times at most campgrounds. "Nature is all around! Early morning walks yield the most wildlife sightings.

What campers like

Security features: provide peace of mind at several campgrounds. Mission City RV Park implements controlled access gates with personalized codes. "Security is excellent and everyone is given a unique code for the car gate," notes one reviewer. This attention to security allows campers to explore San Antonio without worrying about unattended belongings.

Camp store availability: varies between locations. Travelers World RV Resort maintains supplies beyond basic necessities. "The office is really clean and nice, the camp ground is pretty well kept and clean, nice laundry area," reports Alura E. The resort sells pressure regulators for its high water pressure system.

Social activities: create community among campers at several parks. Hidden Valley RV Park organizes regular gatherings. "Weekly morning coffee and evening campfire gatherings on Saturdays," mentions one reviewer. These scheduled events help solo travelers connect with others during extended stays.

What you should know

Seasonal considerations: impact camping comfort dramatically. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 95°F, requiring early morning activities. "Morning walks along established paths provide exercise opportunities before the Texas heat intensifies," notes one camper. Most parks recommend bringing sunshades for any outdoor cooking or gathering spaces.

Variable maintenance: affects campground facilities throughout the area. Braunig Lake Park shows inconsistent upkeep. "The area borders the lake and there are several places to set up your tent, w/shelter and grill. Maintenance, not so much. Spotty mowing," reports Shelly S. Visitors should check recent reviews before booking.

Transportation options: connect campgrounds to attractions. Mission City RV Park provides public transit access. "Taking the bus to the Riverwalk area and Alamo made our experience even better because we didn't have to find parking or look for directions," states Kathy I. Several campgrounds offer rideshare services with reliable cellular coverage.

Tips for camping with families

Tips from RVers

Leveling conditions: vary between campgrounds in the Jourdanton area. Mission City RV Park maintains level sites with consistent surfaces. "The sites are close together but level. Some sites have cement pads. Most are gravel with a picnic table," reports Kathy H. RVers should inquire about pad materials when making reservations.

Access roads: present challenges at some pet-friendly campgrounds. Vista Ridge RV Park provides well-maintained approaches. "This is a beautiful park outside of the city on the river. 30 minutes to downtown. The owners are awesome people and there is a real pride of ownership shown in the upkeep around the park," states Rachel P. Many parks require navigation through rural roads with variable conditions.

Tree clearance: impacts RV access at several parks. Braunig Lake Park presents overhead obstacles. "Well we spent 3 nights here and it wasn't what we had hoped. If you have a large or tall rig RV don't even bother. The trees are the main issue," warns Zachary H. RVers should specify rig height when booking at wooded campgrounds.
