River access: At Palmetto State Park Campground, campers can paddle the San Marcos River. "We came here on a day trip and were very pleased with the park. We decided next trip we would rent a canoe and head up the river," notes Sara S.
Hiking trails: The park offers several interconnected trails through unique vegetation. "Eight different trails available within this park. Longest 1.25 miles. Very good condition. Crushed granite and boardwalks," explains Napunani.
Swimming spots: The park's small lake provides a designated swimming area. "This is a great park for families. There is all kinds of activities like biking, hiking, swimming, fishing, a playground, kayak/paddle board rentals," writes Chris K.
Wildlife observation: Keep an eye out for local fauna throughout the parks. "We came here on a day trip and were very pleased with the park. It didn't really feel like Texas as we walked through the almost tropical looking forest," reports Sara S.

Unique ecosystem: River Shade RV Park provides Guadalupe River access with distinctive habitat. "We had a site very close to the river (2nd row) which offered a great view. There are beautiful huge trees in the park and most sites have ample shade," writes Debbie J.
Clean facilities: Gone Fishin' RV Park maintains high-standard amenities. "The bath house is as clean as the ours at the house. The grass was cut short and there is no mud," shares Robert H.
Historic surroundings: Many campgrounds sit near historical sites. "Palmetto State Park is a tranquil campground located in Central Texas. The park is located a few minutes drive from the towns of Gonzales and Luling," explains Troy W.

What you should know
Water conditions: Mission City RV Park provides information about regional water features. "For being in a big city, this is a great park. There is an awesome walk/bike path about a mile away. Very peaceful and easy terrain for a great walk or bike ride," explains Kathy H.
Site spacing: Campsite proximity varies significantly between parks. "Outside loop sites had nice distance between sites. No vegetation between sites to shield from neighbors," notes Napunani about Palmetto State Park.
Seasonal considerations: Summer brings insects that can impact outdoor activities. "We did experience an issue with flies though, which were so bothersome we couldn't eat outside," reports Debbie J. about River Shade RV Park.
Reservation requirements: Most campgrounds require advance booking. "We camped here for 3 nights with reservations made 151 days prior to arriving," explains Napunani about planning their Palmetto State Park visit.
