Braunig Lake Park

Within Braunig Lake Park, this city-managed campground provides both RV and tent camping with direct lake access. Sites accommodate RVs with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, though campers with larger or taller rigs should note that low-hanging tree branches create clearance issues on access roads.

The campground borders Braunig Lake, making it a draw for anglers targeting redfish without the drive to the coast. "Has some great fishing," notes JonnySin R.. Sites include shelters and grills, with trash cans distributed throughout the area. However, maintenance appears inconsistent based on visitor reports, with rough road conditions and overgrown vegetation affecting some areas.

Campers should expect a functional rather than polished experience. The concrete pads themselves receive positive mentions, but amenities like showers and restrooms have faced reliability issues. Sites lack significant shade and are positioned close together. For those seeking places to camp around Elmendorf or a convenient fishing base near San Antonio, this park offers basic overnight accommodations with lake proximity as its primary appeal.

Many campers appreciated the fishing opportunities and lake access, but numerous guests pointed out significant maintenance issues. Common feedback included poor facility upkeep, cramped sites, and rough roads throughout the park.

Poorly maintained

Well we spent 3 nights here and it wasn't what we had hoped. If you have a large or tall rig RV don't even bother. The trees are the main issue. We have an airstream and even it was starting to scrape getting to and from a site.

I couldn't tell you what the money for the campsite was going towards. It wasn't maintenance for the park that's for sure. The roads are especially rough. The trees need trimming. The posts were falling over.

The pads themselves were nice and there were trash cans everywhere which was also nice. It's a place that could be really lovely if some time, energy, and money were going into it.

Very disappointed

No working showers and the bathrooms were discussing, no picnic tables, the only fire rings were at the shelters and were full of old trash. The park was not maintained

Good weekend getaway

Has some great fishing. If you don’t have time to go to the coast but love fishing for reds this is a nice spot to come to. Camping sites allow for both RV hook ups and tent camping.

RVing and fishing close to home

Great environment. Gma, Daughter and 3 grandson. Close enought to go home and take care of livestock and go back for fun times. Fishing, riding a Trikke and playing family games in the evening.

Location, location,location

Disclaimer: I am not a fisher woman. The area borders the lake and there are several places to set up your tent, w/shelter and grill. Maintenance, not so much. Spotty mowing. You can RV too but you may want to bring your generator. If you like to fish you may like this one.

Braunig Lake Park receives mixed feedback with praise for its fishing opportunities, particularly for redfish when unable to visit the coast. The location is convenient to San Antonio, making it suitable for short stays and day trips. Families appreciate the environment for activities like fishing and games.
