Hillbilly Haven Recreational Vehicle Park

Where Interstate 20 meets the Brazos River, Hillbilly Haven Recreational Vehicle Park sits on forested terrain that draws tubing enthusiasts and river campers. The campground provides both developed RV sites with full hookups and primitive camping areas along the riverbank past the bridges. Highway noise from I-20 carries across the property, though several campers note it doesn't significantly impact their stay.

The Brazos River serves as the main attraction, with direct access for tubing, fishing, and floating trips. Water levels fluctuate seasonally, and Charly S. found that "the river was very low in most spots" during their October visit, requiring more walking than floating. A sandy island provides a gathering spot for families and anglers. The park operates as a hub for group river trips, with staff offering equipment loans and local guidance.

Facilities include a bathhouse, dump station, and WiFi access, though primitive areas rely on portable facilities. The campground sees seasonal crowds during tubing season but remains quiet during off-peak months. Staff members receive consistent praise for their helpfulness with first-time visitors. For those exploring the broader region, campsites near Mineral Wells offer additional options.

Call ahead to check current river conditions before planning water activities, as flow rates vary significantly throughout the year.

No. 1 on my list of Places

I have camped out here on multiple occasions. Mainly for river trips with friends. Great place for group events and trips. Best place for floating the Brazos. Will continue to camp here on future trips

Great time, cool people but tubing didn’t go as expected

Me and my boyfriend came here to do some tubing down the Brazos river. If you’re camping here and intend on tubing I wouldn’t recommend taking their word on the water levels or flow of the river. We called before heading that way and they told us the flow was great. We ended up walking most of the way since the river was very low in most spots or wasn’t flowing much. Despite this we still had a great time and met some cool people, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Very laid back atmosphere.

Out of season, quiet place to park

We stayed one night, in January, passing through TX. Easy on/off access to I-20. The park is clean, has full hookups, and is right on the river. Wasn't crowded because it was out of season for tubing, so it was quiet. Park felt safe and was a convenient place to spend the night. The people answering the phone were pleasant and helpful. I would stay here again without hesitation when passing through.

Primitive camping on the river

We did not stay in the RV area and instead primitive camped along the river past the bridges. We got a very secluded spot with access the the river. There are no tables or fire rings in the section we were in but we were prepared for that and brought our own supplies. There is a bathhouse but I did not see it while we were there. There was a port a potty near the primitive area. It is right next to the highway so there is noise from that but it did not bother us at all. Kids really enjoyed the atmosphere and our experience at this location. We tubed the river the next day and then packed up since we were all pretty sun burned. The staff was very helpful since it was our first time. We will definitely return.

Not run right

Sent me to a tent spot that had a concrete pad 3" under the soil.  No fire pit, no table, no electricity.
