Pickwick Dam Campground offers clean, pet-friendly sites with electric and water hookups along the Tennessee River. All 92 sites accommodate pets and feature level terrain suitable for both tents and RVs. Green Acres RV Park provides spacious, pet-friendly camping with full hookups including 50-amp service at its 48 well-maintained sites. The grounds are meticulously maintained with crushed stone pads and paved roads. Both campgrounds enforce leash requirements, with pets needing to be picked up after. Country Critters Campground welcomes pets and features unique amenities including a mini pony and goat that children can view during their stay.

Bruton Branch Recreation Area offers waterfront primitive camping with pets allowed at all sites. Many campsites sit directly on the water, providing excellent fishing access with breathtaking views at sites 28 and 29 particularly noted for their privacy and fishing opportunities. The area provides flush toilets and showers but no potable water, so campers should plan accordingly. Pickwick Landing State Park's campground provides shaded sites with electric and water hookups in a wildlife-rich environment. The quiet atmosphere allows visitors to enjoy the natural sounds of southern cicadas and crickets along with occasional owls and distant coyotes. Temperature considerations are important for tent campers with pets, as summer nights can be warm and humid, making battery-powered fans advisable for comfort.

      Perfect for a night

There's a fire pit, cornhole, showers are included, two dog parks and half a basketball court. There is a small trail that circles the whole campground.

Parkers Crossroads RV Park and Campground

      RV Park and RV Repair!

Parker’s Crossroads is located very conveniently off of I-40 and the park is gorgeous! They have some long term campers, storage, and an RV Repair Center on site. The shop inside has more parts then we have ever seen at an RV Park. While here we needed a switch for a water heater, they had it!

The campground had some narrow roads and some less than level sites but they were all doable. They have a nice pool area, spaces for dogs to be walked (on leash), pet waste disposal, cabins, and full hook ups.

The park was very quiet and clean, well kept. They have large mature trees, and great landscaping.

The cellular service for TMobile and AT&T we’re both decent and streaming video was possible each night.

      Piney Grove Campground

This is one of the best!

We reserved a waterfront spot, but our rig wouldn’t fit despite the website saying so, no biggy though. Was able to swap spots and enjoyed our stay. Very nice park, nice beaches and great for walking pets. Most amenities were closed for the season/ COVID. Great staff. We had few bars (Verizon) and no service on t-mobile. Overall great experience, can’t go wrong with any spot.

      Chickasaw State Park Campground

      Beautiful fall views

Very first time camping in our pop up camper. The campsite was beautiful and the facilities were extremely clean. We had issues getting our popup down but luckily, had the friendliest camper neighbors who attempted to help us. The views during the fall here are breathtaking. We got to hike through the trails around the lake and pet the horses at Wranglers. When we were leaving, the staff had started setting up Christmas decorations and lights and that was just as beautiful. Would definitely go back for unplugging, strictly nature purposes (WiFi was very spotty).

This campground is well maintained. The grounds are Meticulously maintained, the staff will do everything possible to make your stay as pleasant as possible. There is a beautiful pool open seasonally, all sites will accommodate large Rigs, with full power (20amp, 30amp, 50amp) service. Sewerage and fresh water. There is strong WiFi and basic cable is included. I’ve camped here a few times now and couldn’t be more happier. This is a pet friendly park, ( Fido, just need to be on a leash and picked up after.) There are showers, bathrooms and 24/7 laundry facilities. So come as strangers, leave as friends.

      All sites are excellent....

      Pickwick Landing State Park Campground

      Rustic campsites, nice cabins

We like the rustic campground here! Nice new bathhouse and playground area. They sell firewood! I do wish the campground was on the river or had water views, but it’s close by, so that’s okay.

There is a nice lodge with restaurant. The cabins here are extremely nice! They have views of the Tennessee River. Be sure to check out the wildlife rehab near the front office.

There are a few stores and restaurants close by in case you want to go out to eat if need to make a trip to the store.

      We love Tennessee State Parks!

    Guide to Savannah

Savannah, Tennessee offers camping options along the Tennessee River at an elevation of around 440 feet. The region experiences humid summers with temperatures averaging 90°F and mild winters with lows around 30°F. Summer storms can create sudden weather changes, requiring campers to plan accordingly with proper shelter and rain gear.

    What to do

**Fishing access: Several sites at Bruton Branch Recreation Area sit directly on the water. "Bruton Branch campground is really pretty and if you get the last 2 spots you have plenty of space for a group with a rock beach to fish from or to swim in," notes Brittni F.

**Historical sites: Pickwick Dam Campground provides easy access to nearby landmarks. "It is also close to the Shiloh National Military Park which is the reason we are here," mentions Kevin B. The battlefield offers self-guided tours with interpretive markers and requires 2-3 hours to explore properly.

**Swimming options: While some camping areas restrict swimming, Chickasaw State Park maintains designated swimming areas. "Chickasaw State Park... reminds me of the classic summer camps I saw on television as a kid: beautiful lake, horses, stables, paddle boats and canoes, and even a well maintained swimming hole," writes Jeremy H.

    What campers like

**Level camping pads: Campsites at J.P. Coleman State Park feature concrete parking pads. "Site 13 with electric and lake side was perfectly level and near restroom with showers, which were large!" reports Big R.

**Clean facilities: Restrooms and showers at multiple parks receive regular maintenance. "All sites are level concrete but narrow. No room for error on either side. Grills and some picnic tables close to each site but not close to be convenient to an RV kitchen. At 20.00 a night it is well worth an overnight stay," says Wendy T. about Tishomingo State Park.

**Wildlife viewing: Camping areas support various wildlife viewing opportunities. "We love the rustic campground here! Nice new bathhouse and playground area. They sell firewood! I do wish the campground was on the river or had water views, but it's close by, so that's okay. There is a nice lodge with restaurant. The cabins here are extremely nice! They have views of the Tennessee River. Be sure to check out the wildlife rehab near the front office," shares Shana D.

    What you should know

**Campground renovation status: Some facilities have seen recent upgrades while others await improvements. "This place has been totally rebuilt by the TVA after flooding in 2019. I don't know what it was like before, but wow it's really nice. All the sites are level, plenty of room for a tent and RV on all 92 sites," explains Bob M. at Pickwick Dam Campground.

**Paper mill proximity: Industrial facilities can affect some camping experiences. "Beautiful view on the TN River and the Pickwick Dam. The only negative is the noise and smell of the paper mill on the opposite side of the river," reports Kevin B.

**Cell reception variability: Coverage varies significantly between campgrounds. "1 bar Verizon," notes a reviewer at J.P. Coleman State Park, while Tishomingo State Park has "Cellphone coverage is not good here for Verizon or AT&T. Better at front of camp."

    Tips for camping with families

**Animal attractions: Young children enjoy the animal features at Country Critters Campground. "Cute little place to stop for the night... the kids playground is decommissioned, but they do have a goat and a mini pony!" reports Aubrey S.

**Playground access: Several campgrounds maintain play areas for children. "Clean campground, bathrooms were clean with plenty of warm water. They have vending machine, washer/dryer on site. They also have small playground at entrance and small area of mini golf," shares amber at J.P. Coleman State Park.

**Tent pad considerations: Families with tents should check site surfaces. "Site/Surface: Site 19 was an excellent site with great views, site 18 was smaller and not as good. Sites were a mix of grass/dirt/rocks," explains Michael T. about Bruton Branch Recreation Area.

    Tips from RVers

**Site leveling challenges: Many RV sites in the region require leveling equipment. "Our Super C Class did require more blocks for leveling in the front on Site 6. However, it was a very nice site with plenty of privacy," shares Jody J. about Pickwick Dam Campground.

**RV-friendly options: Green Acres RV Park offers amenities designed for larger vehicles. "All sites will accommodate large Rigs, with full power (20amp, 30amp, 50amp) service. Sewerage and fresh water. There is strong WiFi and basic cable is included," writes Thom T.

**RV site spacing: Space between sites varies among campgrounds. "We stayed at this campground in August of 2023. This is one of the best in the country, and we know because we are just finishing a 7000 mile trip. The grounds are well manicured, the camp spots are spacious, and well spaced so that your neighbor is not on top of you," reports David C. about pet friendly camping near Savannah, Tennessee at Green Acres RV Park.
