Sites 55-81 sit farther from the water and have less shade, but they are first-come, first-served rather than requiring a reservation. Sites near the basketball courts can get noisy. One reviewer notes that not all sites are flat and level, which means larger rigs may face challenges in certain spots, even though the campground accommodates RVs up to 45 feet with full hookups including sewer.
Cell coverage is inconsistent. AT&T and T-Mobile users have reported workable signal at some sites, while others had no service at all. WiFi is available on-site. The bathrooms are consistently described as clean, though they lack air conditioning, which makes them muggy in warmer months. The campground sits roughly 10 miles from the nearest town, so stocking up before arrival is worth the planning effort.
Piney Grove runs from March 1 through November 15. The off-season shoulder periods tend to be less crowded.
