Big Hill Pond State Park is located in the southwestern part of McNairy County and encompasses 4,138 acres of timberland and hardwood bottomland. Cypress Creek and Tuscumbia River border the property. The flood plain, adjacent to the river and creek contains small oxbows and swampy areas which are desirable habitats for waterfowl, wildlife, and fish.
Big Hill Pond highlights include the 70-foot observation tower that offers panoramic views of Travis McNatt Lake and the boardwalk that winds through Dismal Swamp. Guests visiting Big Hill Pond State Park enjoy camping, hiking, birding, mountain biking, fishing, and paddling on Big Hill Pond Lake in the summer. The Pin Oak campground has 77 sites, 2 bathhouses, 50 amp electric, sewer and water hookups. The campground is located on the shore of Pin Oak Lake and can accommodate RVs up to 80 feet in length. The RV camp also offers a swimming beach, playground, picnic shelter, camping cabins and boat dock. While this campground is open year-round, some campsites close after December 1. Campers should be aware that there is very limited, if any, cell service available in the Pin Oak campground area.

Natchez Trace Wrangler Camp is located 2.2 miles south of I-40 on Hwy. 114. The Bucksnort Wrangler Camp features 62 campsites with electric and water, two bathhouses, and a dump station. All electrical hook-ups are 50 amps. Each site has a picnic table, ground grill, pedestal grill, lantern holder, water and posts to picket horses. There are 250 miles of riding trails in the park and forest. Campsites should be reserved online or by calling the park. Campers are requested to leave site clear of horse waste. Pets must be kept on a leash. Quiet time is at 10:00 PM. While this campground is open year-round, some campsites close after December 1.

The campsite was nice. It was divided, the fire pit and the table was up a small hill behind the camper.
The bathrooms were clean and showers were great. The toilets at least in the women’s bathroom the hinges are on the wrong side so the doors do not open wide.
The area is nice. We weren’t able to check out the trails due to an injury I received the week before but the area is so nice.
There were three animals on display ate the animal rehab and owl, Henry (red-tail hawk) and Scarlet (unsure what she was)
A nice place to relax and recharge.
Ranger
It’s a large campground with a lot of full time campers on site. Nice lake at 102 sq acres in size. Did have an issue that most sites are only 50 or 30amp hookups only, so I had to borrow a 30 to 120 adapter. The hiking trails were closed which sucked since I was looking forward to a hike with the dog. They are building a new pool. Good luck getting a lakeside site since I was told only 8 are available and are full most of the time.

This campground has become our favorite. The campground is amazing, the bathrooms are cleaned everyday on weekends and every other day during the week. Completely cleaned!
The site has 77 sites full hook-up with sewage. Every site has grill, fire pit, table and lantern hook. We were #38 it was easy to back into and pretty level. The campground also have small cabins with bunk beds to rent. There is no indoor water just beds, electric and air for a great price. There is a small swimming area too at Pin Oak.
There are a few lakes in the area. Pin Oak is the only motor lake. Cub lake has a larger swim area with paddle boat, Jon boat and kayak rentals. The rentals are only weekends. Browns Creek Lake also has honest system rentals of Jon boat but for fishing purposes only and you have to pay for a lake permit.
The park is great! Lexington is close for quick runs for anything you need. We loved this park so much we may be changing our family BBQ to this park next year.
RangerWe stayed one night at the Oak Campground. We drove straight to our site (per the Visitor Center’s instruction) - it’s about 15 minutes off I-40. The site was in great shape, there was wood left for us, and the bathhouses were super clean. The campground landscape is rolling hills so everyone has a different view of the lake. Our kids enjoyed riding their bikes and playing on the small beach. There was a playground for smaller kids and several people were fishing and boating. The campsites are not super private, but they are nicely spaced, everyone was pleasant and it was quiet in the evening. Lots of folks w pups, but they were all leashed or fenced. The lodge was over a mile away so we didn’t make it over there and if you are looking for amenities, there really aren’t any. There are other campgrounds in the Park, as well as a Visitor Center. For a nice and reasonably priced overnight, I would strongly recommend.
GuideThe campground is quite large with lots of things to explore. A lot of the roads, especially around the campsites were in need of repair. I had full hookup with 30 amp service, though not all of the sites have sewer. All of the lakeside sites are taken up by resident campers (of which there are a lot). I had absolutely no cell service through Verizon and my T-Mobile 5g internet had no reception either (even with a booster). Luckily, I was able to rely on my Starlink. A lot of the buildings looked like they had seen better days, but were maintained as well as they could be. Staff were nice and pleasant. Meriwether Lewis death/gravesite was nearby and interesting to check out. Not a whole lot else to do in the area. There is a low bridge (11ft) that you need to pass under to get onto the Natchez Trace Parkway. If you can’t fit, you have to take Napier road north several miles. There is a wal-mart in town about 20 or so minutes away.
GuideSo many bad reviews for this site. Complainers!! Yes big hills and horrible roads in the park, but your in the sticks, sooo.... Plenty level spots. Some Sites are full and some are partial hook-ups. Plenty spots w easy access and plenty not so easy. Wifi is available to purchase $25 for the week, no issues thus far. Beautiful location. Natchez Trace Pkwy has plenty to learn and explore!!! Cute, lively little towns nearby that have kept up that old town look with awesome shops! In Hohenwald there is an elephant sanctuary. It has a location in town to teach about that sanctuary (No elephants are kept there)
GuideThis is a very big park with multiple types of camping options and also a lodge with a restaurant. Lots of great fishing and boating spots. There’s a few beaches for swimming and multiple playgrounds for the little ones. Check it is super easy, you just drive up to your site. The RV sites had plenty of room and were very well maintained. We met the camp host to buy firewood and he was really nice and accommodating.

This is one of our go to areas , no power at sites , water only , decently clean bath house . Lake access and hiking everywhere . Park rangers are quite nice here . We had a scout troop staying in the campground which I found odd as there are three specific scout areas . Beautiful fall colors
GuidePool was out of order. Roads needed a lot of love. Wifi was not good. General store was nice and employees were all nice. Close to Merriweather Lewis's final resting place.
TravelerGreat camping spot. Quiet and very spacious. We had the entire primitive side to ourselves. Plenty of amenities, close to all the waterfalls and nature trails. The beach was an awesome bonus. The price for primitive was a tad extreme.
GuideDo not trust your GPS to get you here. Make sure you have plenty of gas before leaving any town. Study the direction map link on the web site. There are no signs until you get there. Be sure you're going to the right campground. CSP is big and GPS will take you to many places (wrong places) in the park, many trail but useable roads. Once here, enjoy the tranquility and very friendly, helpful people of the area. T Maybe and Verizon work fine. Didn't try the camp wifi. Did not use the bath house. In general, Tennessee State parks do a very good job. Site was not level but paved. Not crowded at all. Large spaceous sites.

GuideA nice campground with blacktop sites. Campground is hilly but most sites are fairly flat. Very nice hot showers. They also have tent camping, cabins, and camping with your horse. Small lake within walking distance to the RV campground. Camp store, gym, small amphitheater. Wifi was a free signup for 3 days but was too slow to be useful.
GuideThe Google had the phone number to AL when thinking we called TN. The park deserved a longer st.ay than we had time for...its really pretty. Pay attention to your site location with Hwy 100. It was loud on our site 43 since we backed up to the highway.

ScoutVery first time camping in our pop up camper. The campsite was beautiful and the facilities were extremely clean. We had issues getting our popup down but luckily, had the friendliest camper neighbors who attempted to help us. The views during the fall here are breathtaking. We got to hike through the trails around the lake and pet the horses at Wranglers. When we were leaving, the staff had started setting up Christmas decorations and lights and that was just as beautiful. Would definitely go back for unplugging, strictly nature purposes (WiFi was very spotty).
