    Outstanding site in great campground

Stayed on a premium patio site and loved it. The campground and staff were awesome. Level site, great hook ups, awesome WiFi and cable. Clean facilities, 3 lakes (one with a fishing pier), 2 dog parks, and super friendly staff. 30 min to Cleveland. Walmart, gas stations and restaurants within 5 miles. Just off Ohio Turnpike, but can't hear it. Definitely recommend this KOA

    Silver Springs Campground

Great for the price and location

Stayed here to be close to the NP and it is a great little campground for a reasonable price. Big dog park with pond on the other side of the park. Sites are uneven but my favorite part was the wooded path.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Nice campground near Cuyahoga

We were in the area exploring Cuyahoga Nat Park and found Silver Springs. It was 18$ for a site with electric hook ups (15$ if you are a Stow resident) No option for no paying less for no hook-up camping. Water close by and port a pottie style bathrooms close to the camp sites. There are flush toilets a walk away but we didn’t use them. Sites are big and grassy but not super level. Wasn’t a big issue for us but could be for a bigger camper. The campground was calm and quiet. Lots of trails close by. Dog park down the street as well as a play ground and fishing pond! We had a great few days staying here and will be back if we are even passing thru Stow again.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Lots of options!

We really loved this little spot! It appealed to all of what we were looking for, our camp host was awesome. There was even a dog park within walking distance- a lot of trails to explore too. No showers and the Porto potties weren't the cleanest... But they were functional. Very hospitable locals- we were invited to a square dancing party that evening in the park! Very comfy and safe.

    Salt Fork State Park Campground

The right side of the fork

Dog park!! and right on the lake!! Found this by mistake on our way out, and the dogs loved it. Access to lake, a beach, well fenced. I would give Salt Fork SP extra stars for this one, especially if there were campsites co-located.

Camp ground is easily accessible being just 6 miles from I70, leaving the convenience of Cambridge and city amenities close by while allowing for great trails and solitude. Stayed in campground A, and the front end has little shade, but being here in autumn was perfect for lots of sunshine on site. Sites with trees for tree tents is minimal. Drinking fountains are dispersed fairly frequently throughout campground, but RV hookups with water were limited during my stay. Shower houses and comfort houses all have flushers and sinks.

TICK WARNING!!!! After a morning hike down wooded Trail, we spent A LONG TIME pulling ticks from dogs...even though the temps were in the 30's overnight and everyone was treated with flea & tick protection.

    Silver Springs Campground

    Great parking

The bathrooms are portojons and there are no showers, however there is THE best dog park I have ever seen in this area. So my dogs loved this campground more than me and that was worth it. It was dark enough to see a space station cross the sky at night. The camping spaces are rather close, but so many people want to camp there, because of its proximity to everything amazing.

Guide to Wilmot

The Wilmot area of Ohio sits in Holmes County at approximately 1,100 feet elevation, characterized by rolling hills and farmland that transition between the Appalachian Plateau and Killbuck Valley. Winter temperatures regularly drop below freezing while summer days reach into the high 80s with moderate humidity. Campgrounds in this region often feature level sites with gravel pads to accommodate seasonal weather variations typical of northeastern Ohio.

What to do

Horseback riding adventures: Visitors to Canton / East Sparta KOA Holiday - Bear Creek Ranch can experience guided trail rides suitable for all skill levels. "Took the kids on the horse ride and they loved it. All staff were very friendly," notes Bradley B., highlighting the family-friendly nature of these excursions.

Winter camping options: While many area campgrounds close seasonally, Evergreen Park RV Resort maintains year-round operations with winter amenities. Andrea F. explains, "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. There were only 3 other campers there... The game room was nice as well as the indoor pool."

Local Amish culture exploration: Base your cultural explorations from a central location. "Centrally located in Berlin, OH. Office staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about local attractions and dining," reports Earl B. about his stay at Scenic Hills RV Park, making it convenient for Amish Country discoveries.

What campers like

Well-maintained facilities: Many dog friendly campgrounds near Wilmot prioritize cleanliness. At Berlin RV Park & Campground, campers consistently praise the immaculate facilities. "SPOTLESS bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS," emphasizes Tara T., while Jenalee R. adds, "The bathrooms, showers and laundry areas were very clean. There also was not an issue with biting insects."

Indoor recreation options: Winter campers especially appreciate indoor amenities. At Evergreen Park RV Resort, Bob R. describes, "The indoor pool is great for enjoying a swim even in January and the bathrooms and showers are spotless and very private."

Free amenities: Campers report unexpected perks at some locations. "Asked for a shaded area...got a perfect one that had shade all day. Friendly and helpful staff. Free firewood. Very clean and well kept park," notes Noel L. about Scenic Hills RV Park.

What you should know

Site spacing variations: Campground layouts differ significantly in the Wilmot area. At Amish Country Campsites, Jeffrey observes, "Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right."

Water quality concerns: Some pet-friendly campgrounds near Wilmot have mineral-heavy water. Campers sometimes report sulfur odors or hard water issues that may affect showering comfort.

Seasonal availability: Many local campgrounds operate on limited schedules. Atwood Lake Park Campground offers full services primarily during warmer months, while waterfront sites book quickly during peak summer periods.

Tent camping limitations: Most facilities in this region prioritize RVs. As Cassandra C. notes about Atwood Lake Park, "This campground is HUGE (more than 500 sites), and it's absolutely jam packed with RVs and permanent trailers... Definitely not recommended for tent campers."

Tips for camping with families

Off-season benefits: Families seeking quieter experiences should consider shoulder seasons. According to J R. at Clay's Resort Jellystone Park, "During the week is a ghost town 👏 this time of year," referring to fall camping with fewer crowds.

Child-friendly amenities: Some locations offer extensive youth activities. "I have 4 kids and return at least 1x per year. Great family owned KOA. Horseback riding on site," recommends Lisa D. about Canton / East Sparta KOA Holiday.

Waterfront camping with kids: Lakeside sites provide entertainment and supervision advantages. At Atwood Lake Park Campground, Susan S. explains, "We could leave our camper, take the boat over to the beach and drop off the grandkids and me the Nana for swimming at the beach dock."

Playgrounds and recreation: Outdoor play areas vary widely. "The grounds were well kept. Phone & WiFi good," reports Janet B., while another reviewer notes that Berlin RV Park maintains "a well-maintained playground and pavilion area."

Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: RVers should prepare for potentially uneven terrain. Craig T. advises about Berlin RV Park & Campground, "We had difficulty leveling one night in lot 3 but traded to #4 the next night and did fine. The many pull thru lots looked like a good level base."

Hookup placement: Some campgrounds have unusual utility configurations. At Scenic Hills RV Park, Earl B. notes, "The one and only issue is that water and electricity is located in the rear area of RV, while sewer connections are toward the front. I personally used 50' of water line and 30' of sewer line."

Big rig accessibility: Larger RVs may face challenges at certain pet-friendly campgrounds near Wilmot. Jeffrey warns about Amish Country Campsites, "When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot."

Weather considerations: Prepare for rapid drainage issues during storms. Jason S. cautions about Atwood Lake Park, "Not great when it rains, grounds flood quickly," suggesting RVers should check weather forecasts and choose elevated sites during rainy seasons.
