Sitting along the Delaware River outside Barryville, New York, Slumberland at the River's Edge is a privately run campground where every site sits directly on the water. The access road runs rough in spots, so drivers should expect an uneven approach. Sites are spaced well apart from one another, which keeps the campground from feeling crowded even when multiple groups are on property.
The waterfront location draws paddlers in particular. Kayakers traveling the Delaware have noted a small beach that makes loading and unloading boats straightforward. Swimming, tubing, and fishing all come up in reviews. Cell service is limited to nonexistent here, so campers relying on connectivity should plan accordingly. One canvas tent accommodation includes two queen beds, a covered porch, and both an electric stove and a woodstove, giving it year-round usability even when overnight temperatures drop into the 40s.
The host draws consistent mention across reviews. Guests describe attentive check-ins and add-on options for larger groups. As Brooks B. puts it: "not near any other campers and every site is right on the water." Firewood is provided by the host, alcohol is permitted, and pets are welcome. Rates run $170 to $250 per night, with reservations available.
Campers planning a longer Delaware River itinerary can find campgrounds near Barryville to compare options along the corridor. Jerry's Three River Campground is a nearby alternative for those wanting a more traditional campground setup.
