Canandaigua-Rochester KOA in nearby Farmington offers tent sites, RV hookups, cabins, and glamping options within a family-friendly setting approximately 10 miles northwest of Manchester. The area's camping landscape includes smaller, more intimate settings like The PineApple Farm, which maintains a single rustic site, and larger operations such as Stay Bristol Woodlands with 78 sites for tents, RVs, and cabin rentals. Most campgrounds in the region operate seasonally, typically from mid-April through October, taking advantage of the region's mild summers.

Seasonal considerations shape the camping experience in the Finger Lakes area, with most facilities closing during the winter months. The optimal camping window spans from May through early October when temperatures remain comfortable and rainfall is moderate. Many sites require advance reservations, particularly during summer weekends and fall foliage season. The region's varied terrain influences campground settings—from lakeside properties to wooded retreats set against rolling hills. Facilities like Junius Ponds provide full hookups on maintained grounds, while others like Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill balance amenities with a more natural setting. Access roads are generally well-maintained, though some campgrounds feature narrow, hilly entrances that can challenge larger rigs. As one visitor noted, "The roads are narrow and hilly, but we pull a 36' 5th wheel (mid-profile) and we had no issues with branches."

Family-friendly amenities distinguish many campgrounds in the Manchester vicinity. Canandaigua-Rochester KOA receives consistently positive feedback for its activities and facilities. According to one camper, "Great place for kids, so many activities!" Swimming pools, playgrounds, and organized weekend events are common at the larger, more developed properties. Water access represents another significant draw, with several campgrounds situated near the Finger Lakes or smaller waterways. Creek n Wood campground, positioned along Mud Creek, offers fishing opportunities directly from the property. Campers frequently mention cleanliness as a key factor in their satisfaction, with well-maintained restrooms and shower facilities highlighted in reviews. Mixed-use campgrounds that accommodate both tent camping and RVs dominate the landscape, with dedicated tent-only areas less common but available at select locations.

They have a disc golf field, fishing, and so many places to go on the golf carts! They also go in big on their themed weekends. Great place to go if you want the kids exhausted at the end of the day!!

    Sugar Hill Fire Tower Campsite

    Free camping with amenities!

26 camp sites with bathrooms! That flush! Very quiet and the sites aren’t on top of each other. People bring their horses. You can drive to to your site and tent camp or camper camp. I would come back!

    Watkins Glen State Park Campground

Nice campground in a gorgeous state park.

Nice pretty campground, only electric hookup for the RV sites, tho. The showers were cool, no hot water. Close to some gorgeous hiking tho! And town is about a mile away with shops, restaurants and on the edge of one of the Finger Lakes to make it beautiful!

Ontario County Park at Gannett Hill

    Inexpensive, Peaceful.

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions, twice in RV 12 and once in RV 6.

I used the 30 AMP hookup and had zero issues.

Beautiful playground for my son to enjoy and meet other kiddos. Deer, chipmunks and rabbits will say hi in the early and late hours.

    Large dumpsters near entrance.

Dump stations are present, but I haven't used them yet.

Potable water is present at a small spigot.

The washrooms facility is very close and speaking for the men's side, it had 2 stalls, 2 urinals, 2 showers, multiple sinks, and a sturdy baby changing station.

Hiking trails with gorgeous views of the valley within a 5 min walk of my campsite.

    Pinecreek Campground

    Overnight stay

The campground is cute and quiet. Staff is friendly and helpful. My only complaint is the condition of the roads. They are in dire need of grading and new gravel. Be careful!

    Watkins Glen State Park Campground

    Busy campground

Sites are level, some are more spaced apart than others but none seemed crowded as they seemed to all have trees between. Main complaint was most people speed way too fast through the campground. There was poison Ivy around the edges of our site and on the path to the bathroom. Bathroom was fairly modern and clean. It was nice to be able to access the gorge right from the campground.
