Several RV parks near Tuckahoe, New York provide accommodations for travelers seeking Long Island camping experiences. North Fork Cottages & RV Resort in Greenport features full hookup sites with 50-amp service, water, and sewer connections, operating from May through November. Sun Outdoors Mystic, located in Old Mystic, Connecticut, offers big-rig friendly pull-through sites with electric and water hookups but no sewer connections at individual sites. Hither Hills State Park Campground in Montauk has RV sites with 30 and 50-amp electrical service near the ocean. Ashaway RV Resort in Bradford, Rhode Island maintains 257 year-round sites with full hookups including 30 and 50-amp electric options. "Sites are well organized and no issues with hookups. Propane is available at the store," noted one RV owner about Aces High RV Park.

Cell service varies significantly between parks, with reviews indicating spotty coverage at some locations. For example, at Hither Hills, signal strength changes dramatically depending on site location—some areas have no reception while others maintain strong connections. Many RV campgrounds in the region require advance reservations, particularly during summer months when occupancy rates peak. Dump stations are available at most parks, though some like Sun Outdoors Mystic lack this amenity. Level sites can be challenging to find at certain locations, with one traveler noting the need for blocks at Blydenburgh County Park where "most of the longer sites were very difficult to level." Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, weekend availability becomes extremely limited, especially for larger rigs requiring pull-through access. Pet policies vary by location with most RV parks permitting dogs with standard leash requirements.

      Wildwood State Park Campground

      Beautiful

The campsites were big had no trouble finding it. One of the ranges escorted us to the site. The staff was very nice. The bathrooms were immaculate. I saw it being cleaned twice in 24 hours. It was a little partying going on till about 1 AM, but it wasn’t too bothersome.

      GrandView CampResort & Cottages

Friendly staff and very clean facilities. They have sites with sewage hookups along with water and electric. Sites are small and very close together. I liked how many dog waste receptacles were available all over the property.

      Sun Outdoors Mystic

      Less than stellar

When I arrived, I discovered this site they reserve for me was not level, and the picnic table was blocking access to the electric. When I asked the office for help, I was told maintenance had already left around 4 o’clock, and nobody could help me. I was offered a different side if I wanted to pay the extra price. I managed to wrestle the table out of the way and made it work. But the Wi-Fi was worthless.

      Crocker's Boatyard

      Comfortable, clean, easy, friendly

Nothing fancy, great for us as a stop along the way. Large, open gravel space surrounded by boats. Cute in-ground pool just closed for the season, great washroom & showers. A bunch of restaurants around the corner - highly recommend The Waffle Company. Dump station at the waste treatment plant 5 minutes away, no charge, very helpful staff, tight quarters, choose your route carefully if your rig is >13 ft - bridges.

      Sun Outdoors Mystic

      Big Lots, Good Amenities

Enjoyed our stay at this campground for a weekend in mid September. We booked for a good rate using Campspot and it was well worth the money. Our site was wide and had some bushes adding privacy from some nearby RVs. The campground was quiet and had several nice amenities, like a store, laundry, dog park, playground, pool, basketball court, and more. It was close to Olde Mystic and plenty of other nearby attractions.

      Burlingame State Park Campground

      Real camping

Sites are rocky and not the most level. Fairly private. No water elec or sewer @ sites. Water spigot spread throughout the park. 2 nice sewer dumps. 1 in the middle of the park and 1 on your way out. Decent beaches. Pretty nice playground. Horrible arcade. The camp store is awesome. Everything you need. They are doing alot of work updating the park and it shows. New bath houses are really nice. We have gone 3 times this year. Good family campground

      Hammonasset State Park Campground

      Outstanding campground, park and location

Overall a superb spot to either stay put and enjoy the camp, park and beach or to use as a base to explore the region. Huge campground, yet peaceful. Online map would make it seem spaces are tight but it is a very big area and so ample room to stretch out your space. Not a lot of privacy as most spaces are out in the open or light tree area but it is not an invasive feeling situation. Very popular for CT families with biking, walking and the beautiful beach right here. Lots of grass, level sites. A few sites have electric but not many and this seems to be the big rig area. Most people are tent or small camper setups. Bathrooms clean, hot water reasonable temp. Dish washing stations at each restroom. Movies at night (kids). The state park is really pretty and well maintained. The area towns are very pretty and remarkably quiet in general (not many tourist traps) and its easy to access various shoreline parks, drives, viewpoints. I'd avoid the spots very nearest the park road as it does get a lot of day visitors to the park/beach. I'm here late August and schools go back this week so midweek the campground is less than half full but I believe it will fill for the weekend.

      Shinnecock East County Park

Terrible camping, dont come here (kidding)

Just kidding - this is the best boondock camping you’ll find. Ample water fill, air, and dump stations. Pick the ocean or bay side- my preference is the bay side, closer to the inlet. Great fishing too. Note: there are NO hook ups, contrary to the AI summary from Dyrt.

    Guide to Tuckahoe

Campers visiting the Tuckahoe area can find several options within a 60-mile radius spanning Long Island, Connecticut, and Rhode Island. Cell service varies at sites throughout the region, with some campgrounds experiencing dead zones in specific areas. Summer temperatures typically range from 65-85°F, making water access particularly valuable during peak season months.

    What to do

**Beach activities: Hither Hills State Park Campground offers direct ocean access just over the dunes. "The beach is just over the dunes. Village Pizza is remarkably good," notes a camper who visited multiple times in 2023.

**Explore Mystic: Located 15 minutes from Sun Outdoors Mystic, this historic seaport town provides maritime museums and shops. One camper shares, "This park is in a great location for exploring Mystic. You are close to downtown, the aquarium, Mystic Seaport and other attractions."

Kayaking opportunities: Several water access points exist near Rocky Neck State Park. "Anyone with kayaks can't easily get to boat launch. It's 4-5 miles by car at 4 mile river boat launch," explains a reviewer who documented the logistics of water sports access.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: North Fork Cottages & RV Resort in Greenport receives positive feedback for site maintenance. "My wife and I went on our first camping trip together. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The sites were exactly what we needed. Grassy and flat for our tent," noted one visitor.

Waterfront views: Ponds and creeks enhance the camping experience at certain locations. A camper at Aces High RV Park explains, "Well organized campground with both water front back in sites as well as large pull throughs. Pull through sites also have lots of space between them so you don't feel like you are on top of the neighbors."

Pool amenities: Many campgrounds feature swimming pools for cooling off. At Crocker's Boatyard, a reviewer appreciated "a spot right next to the pool and the docks. Very convenient. The staff does a great job."

    What you should know

Reservation timing: Most campgrounds require planning months ahead, especially for summer weekends. A camper at Hither Hills noted it's "great place to camp, need to reserve about 1 year in advance when I went to reserve it."

Site spacing varies significantly: Some campgrounds offer limited privacy between spaces. "The sites are VERY close, but the people are nice and we had a great stay," commented a visitor at Ashaway RV Resort.

Bathroom cleanliness fluctuates: Maintenance standards differ between facilities and can change throughout the day. One camper at North Fork Cottages observed, "Some of the screens were missing from the bathroom so it was full of bugs. If you are in a camper and it has a bathroom, this will not be an issue for you."

    Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Look for campgrounds with dedicated play areas. A visitor to Rocky Neck State Park Campground mentioned, "Nature Center has movies on weekends for kids. A lot of you children. Short walk to Rock Neck beach."

Consider seasonal crowds: Popular beaches can become very busy during summer months. "We ended up luckily getting a spot because a friend had cancelled the reservation. Must reserve early in the year for summer spots," advised a Hither Hills camper.

Playground access: Several campgrounds maintain play structures for children. "It has a clean playground and well maintained pool as well as some walking paths, large grassy areas, pavilion and volleyball court," reported a visitor to Aces High RV Park.

    Tips from RVers

Level site availability: RV campers should research site grading before booking. At Sun Outdoors Mystic, a camper noted "Our site was a nice long, level pull-thru. Hook-ups were placed in ideal locations for the pad which was gravel."

Concrete pad options: Some premium sites include concrete pads for easier leveling. "Clean, well-maintained, and level site with concrete pad and patio (I love a clean, level concrete pad!)," shared an RVer staying at Aces High RV Park.

Utilities placement: Connection locations vary between campgrounds. Another RVer at Aces High observed, "Utility hookups were in great condition and everything worked as it should (other parks should come and take a look at how to do this right)."
