Great stay

If your going to be on Long Island ,Suffolk county is really only RV friendly place.Worth buying green key card for resident access.200 but you’d spend that 4 nights regardless.Very clean campgrounds lots of space. Not much to do inside the grounds.

Big Rig Camping in Blydenburgh

We have a 42 ft 5th wheel toy hauler. A few Big Rig spots are available, but this is a Suffock Co Campground that is not well maintained. 2 miles of the Road have many areas of missing blacktop making a very rough ride with low branches. The dump station is basically not accessible to a big rig. Most of the longer sites were very difficult to level.

A Long Island secret

We visited in late July. Park was excellent. Grounds were as advertised. Family friendly. Lots of long haulers it seemed around the sites. Ranger drove around a few times to say hi. Trails were awesome. Row boat for fishing was great. Not a party or for party site as alcohol is not allowed but I believe if your an adult your good to have an adult beverage. If your playing beer pong I think it would be strictly enforced.

Solid 4 stars

Good campground. Good hiking, clean, close facilities and well maintained. Lake is great and only a short walk, but no swimming. Sites are open and fairly close would be only negative.

Fun Local Getaway

Great park with a nice 7 mile loop around the lake with decent fishing. Lots of horses and dogs on the trail. 30 or so sites around a central public restroom. Everyone was nice and we had a great time.

A gem of long island Feels like upstate camping in group camping area

The group camping on the fox sites is accessible by a dirt drive in. I felt like I was suddenly transported upstate when in fact I had only driven 2 towns over, (about 20 minutes from home.) I have lived on Long Island for my entire life never knew great camping was minutes away. Group camping has a limit of 2 cars per site. This helped support a feeling of secluded tranquility campers only from forest camping rather than feild camping. Additional cars can park in guest parking lot. I went during heavy rain and had so much fun driving up a long muddy way. The hiking trails were quiet natural and and clean. The trails I exposed were well marked. The fox 9 site was a long enough walk I needed to plan my trips to the bathroom. Other sites were spaced enough to allow a true feeling of escaping into the woods.

Blydenburg - quick trip, close to home

This park is about 6 minutes away from our home. It's a small park. It's great if you have little ones. Dogs are welcome. There's a large dog run so the fur babies will have a great time too. Staff is super nice. Bathrooms are just okay. Sites are close and very buggy but "tis the season". We didn't explore the trails but heard they were good.

Frequently Asked Questions

What camping options are available at Blydenburgh County Park?

Blydenburgh County Park offers tent camping on grassy sites with lovely trees throughout the campground. The park features both individual campsites and group camping areas (known as the Fox sites), which are accessible via a dirt drive. There are approximately 30 sites arranged around a central public restroom facility. The camping area itself is relatively small but provides a convenient base for enjoying the park's amenities. Dogs are welcome at the campground, and there's even a large dog run area for your furry companions to enjoy.

Can you bring RVs or big rigs to Blydenburgh County Park Campground?

Yes, Blydenburgh County Park does accommodate RVs and big rigs, but with important limitations. There are a few designated spots for larger vehicles, including 5th wheels up to 42 feet. However, access can be challenging due to approximately 2 miles of rough road with missing blacktop in many areas and low-hanging branches. The dump station is also reported to be difficult to access with larger rigs. If you're planning to bring a big rig, call ahead to confirm site availability and discuss access concerns with park staff.

Where can I find a map of Blydenburgh County Park Campground?

Maps of Blydenburgh County Park Campground can be obtained at the park entrance or from the ranger station upon arrival. The park features a central camping area with about 30 sites arranged around public restrooms. For the most current trail information, including the 7-mile loop around the lake, check with park staff during your visit. You can also contact Suffolk County Parks Department directly for digital or printed maps before your trip.

How does Blydenburgh County Park compare to other Long Island campgrounds?

Blydenburgh County Park stands out as one of the more RV-friendly options in Suffolk County, which has limited camping overall. While the camping area is small, the park offers excellent amenities including beautiful hiking trails, a scenic lake for fishing (no swimming allowed), and a peaceful atmosphere that makes you feel transported away from suburban Long Island. Sites are somewhat close together and open, lacking the privacy you might find at more remote campgrounds. It's especially convenient for local residents who want a quick getaway without traveling far, offering a surprising natural escape just minutes from residential areas.

Do I need to purchase tickets or permits for Blydenburgh County Park?

Yes, you need to pay camping fees to stay at Blydenburgh County Park. For frequent visitors, purchasing a Suffolk County Green Key card is recommended, as it provides resident access to this and other county parks. The Green Key card fee may be worthwhile if you plan to camp multiple nights throughout the season. Non-residents pay standard camping fees. For exact fee information and to make reservations, contact Suffolk County Parks Department directly, as rates are subject to change seasonally.
