"It’s mostly seasonal campsites with a lot of folks trekking around on golf carts."
The campground is quiet and spacious. The facilities are in need of updates but are definitely in working order
Obviously being connected to Six flags is a fun family stop, but every part of the camping experience is treated with attention to detail and great services. We needed help with our water heater in our own RV and the camp team sent over a mechanic to sort it out within minutes. Free of charge. Good people nice natural and spacious sites and fun for the family
This campsite is very well maintained, with breathing room between sites. It was very quiet for most of my time. Neighbors got talked to for their music being on beyond 10pm (not by me).
There are three women’s toilet stalls and three women’s shower stalls across the path from site A04. Same amount for men. I appreciated they were individual stalls. Bathrooms and showers are just okay but clean and stocked.
Short walk from campsite to the lake. Try to see sunset!
Tip: you can book a solo night day of online. Otherwise it’s two night minimum. There were plenty of spots available when I stayed on a Wednesday night.
This campground is FANTASTIC! When you think State Park there is almost always a compromise, but not here. We stayed on site A23 for a week in mid-July. The campground was busy, but not over-crowded. The campground itself is well maintained and the shower houses are clean. There are tent and RV sites available, with 15/30/50 amp electric service. The water hookups are NOT at each site, but there is one CLOSE to each site, so you can run your house over, fill your tank, and disconnect. The playgrounds and picnic shelters(multiple of each) are in great condition and the views are EPIC! The staff working the office were kind and helpful, and the park ranger Tom stopped by to ask how our visit was. The campground is a GREAT jumping off point for the local area and all the conveniences you could need are within 15 minutes. We will be back again!
Our campsite was waterfront and beautiful, but the majority were just a wooded setting. They all seemed decently spaced apart, or at least felt that way because they had trees between. Driveways had old pavement, some were not very level but wouldn’t be a problem if you can level. Our site didn’t have a good spot for a tent but some had grassy areas. Bathrooms were outdated but mostly clean, no paper towels or hand dryers. Didn’t see any rangers or park staff drive through, quiet hours were not enforced and we had a loud neighbor. Close to some nice trails.
For our first camp out session, we feel blessed to have chosen site 26 closest to the woods and farthest away from the office.
Really nice park. Spacious lots. Multiple places to access the Allegheny river (all waterfront areas were booked for our visit). QR codes labeling different trees on the property. Coming from Arizona this was a nice feature and something I’d never seen at another park.
Enjoyed grassy areas and mature trees and small lake. Sites well spaced. Clean and well maintained. We were there on a weekday, told weekends are busy. Not buggy.
Short term site right across from the pond, with a patio and gazebo. Roads paved throughout, great laundry facilities, lots for kids, cabins available. clean friendly campground.
