      Letchworth State Park Campground

One of the coolest parks ever!

It's no wonder they call this park the Grand Canyon of the East!  This is a vast green oasis with grandeur to spare.

      Pro's:

      - Glen Iris Inn was a treat.  It is right next to the middle falls, which to me were like the Niagara Falls' little sister.  So spectacular.

      - The restrooms on loop 100 were newish and great.  All singleton-style restrooms and some with showers.

      - Really, just everything.  Wish we could have stayed longer!

      Con's:

      - I heard someone complain about the lack of cell service, but to me this is secretly a Pro! :)

      - Oh and having to use ReserveAmerica to book the site was is a bit of nuisance.

Four Mile Creek State Park Campground

      Beautiful Campground

Campground is clean & beautiful. Our site (#165) is right next to the lake. The showers are warm. The toilets are pretty clean. The water spigot closest to us is not working.

      Letchworth State Park Campground

Beautiful, dog friendly, really helpful staff!

The staff at check-in were incredibly friendly, sharing with me their favorite hikes and viewpoints. My golden retriever and I settled into our site in the 100 loop which was spacious and clean. The restroom and showers were immaculate. The road running the length of the park was flanked by miles of stone walls constructed by the CCC. All paths were well maintained gravel.

      Daisy Barn Campground

      Beautiful campground

Absolutely stunning campground, our phone service does not really work here (Verizon) and the internet did not work last night either, but as long as you have star link I’m sure you will be fine. And internet is working fine this morning. Loved this little piece of heaven on the lake!

      Letchworth State Park Campground

Well run and beautiful state park

Stayed here in our Class B. Had a nice site in loop 4. Only complaint really is other guests cranking some kind of contemporary R&B with very loud bass, like we should all like their music. 4 sites away, it was pretty loud. The hiking, the falls were great. Tons to do, spectacular views. The park is 17 miles long folks. Camping is north, the falls are south. You can hike all the way down. Its perhaps one of the most impressive displays of CCC work i have seen. Stone tables, picnic pavilions, walls, steps, just amazing work and maintained nicely. Check is easy, plenty of places for trash, fresh water. Showers were not bad, two per building per gender. Of course i picked one that backed up so i was in standing water. I reported it and 24 hours later it was the same. Oh well it was hot and felt great and i didn’t get hoof and mouth disease or anything. One thing - MAJOR league poison ivy , everywhere, surrounding every campsite. Beware.

      HTR Niagara Campground

      Super place!

We spent a long weekend at HTR Niagara to visit Niagara Falls and Canada. Wow, are we glad we did!

      WHAT I LIKED:

      — This campground is a short drive to Niagara Falls and the Canadian border

      — The park is beautiful with a great balance of natural and well-maintained

      — Our site was level and clean+ the hookups worked just fine

      — Each interaction with staff was friendly and welcoming(that’s no accident)

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE SO MUCH:

      — Just to nitpick, the wifi was too slow for streaming on TV, which we wanted to do on a rainy day

      WOULD WE COME BACK?

      — Absolutely, this is a great campground with lots to do in a clean and enjoyable setting

      Darien Lakes State Park Campground

      Friendly helpful staff, quiet spot

Large well maintained campground with many different types of sites. The staff is amazing and will help you find something - in person or by phone. Our site was tucked into the woods and felt very private. Lake for swimming, fishing, paddle boarding and kayaking. The bathrooms were dated but clean, with warm showers.

Very clean and nice campground. Was there for 3 nights 4 days. Nice pool and facilities. Lots of activities for the kids but my kids mainly like the pool.

    Guide to Darien Center

Darien Center, New York sits at approximately 900 feet above sea level in the rolling hills of western New York. The region experiences warm summers with temperatures averaging 70-80°F and cold winters with significant snowfall, creating distinct camping seasons from May through October. Most campgrounds in the area provide access to both forested settings and open meadows with drainage systems to handle seasonal rainfall.

    What to do

Disc golf course access: The 18-hole course at Darien Lakes State Park Campground offers a challenging layout through wooded and open terrain. "There is a fairly new Frisbee golf course as well," notes Jeremy H., who recommends this as "a good alternative to paying the high prices to stay at the theme park down the road."

Winter camping options: For cold-weather enthusiasts, several sites remain accessible during snow season. "We did some winter camping here. We backpacked into the lean to along the Conservation Trail. It was in good condition and we had a large clearing for activities," shares Leah W. about her experience at Darien Lakes State Park.

Niagara Falls day trips: From Four Mile Creek State Park Campground, visitors can make the 20-minute drive to the falls. "Convenient location of this campground can't be beat. Fort Niagara is about 5 minutes away, the falls are 15-20 minutes away," notes Jen V., adding that "the camping loop roads were nicely paved and great for bike-riding."

    What campers like

Renovated facilities: Recent upgrades have improved comfort at several campgrounds. "All newly remodeled bathrooms," shares Jim S. about Darien Lakes State Park. These improvements include updated shower buildings, modern toilets, and accessible facilities.

Lakefront relaxation: Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground offers water access with open views. "Short term site right across from the pond, with a patio and gazebo. Roads paved throughout, great laundry facilities, lots for kids," reports David R., highlighting the family-friendly waterfront setup.

Theme park package deals: Six Flags Darien Lake Campground provides special admission arrangements for campers. "The campground itself is pretty and well kept. Unless you're a season ticket holder at Darien Lake, you will be forced to purchase tickets to the Darien Lake amusement park when camping here," explains Cory W., noting the built-in park access with most stays.

    What you should know

Seasonal variations: Most campgrounds operate from May through October with limited off-season availability. "We stayed in August and we really enjoyed the setup and location of all the amenities this campground has," shares Rich L. about Sleepy Hollow Lake Campground, which maintains full services during peak months only.

Noise considerations: Entertainment venues create sound variations depending on location. "It was good if you're planning to go to a concert or the park. Tips for camping with families

Pool facilities: Several campgrounds offer swimming options with varying schedules. "They have a nice heated pool. My only real issue is the ridiculous two adult pool rule if you are with kids," reports Sara D. about Beaver Meadow Family Campground, advising parents to check pool requirements before planning swim activities.

Playground assessments: Jellystone Park of Western New York features extensive play areas for different age groups. "There is something for everyone at this campground. They made recent additions that are awesome," notes Amy T., highlighting the family-focused amenities.

Activity scheduling: Entertainment programs run on predictable schedules worth planning around. "Our favorite time of year to visit is around Halloween. Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: At many area campgrounds, specific loops offer better RV accommodations. "The campground is about 20-25 miles from downtown Rochester and located in a quiet rural setting surrounded by farmland. We chose a back-in 50-amp full hook-up site (M28) at $42/night. All the utilities were placed appropriately so we didn't need any extensions," details Nancy W. about Southwoods RV Resort.

Big rig accommodation: Most parks accommodate large vehicles but with varying site dimensions. "This is a large campground. Walking distance to the theme park. There are campers for rent, cabins for rent, tent sites, RV sites and premium RV sites," notes Mary H. about Six Flags Darien Lake Campground.

Hookup variations: Electrical service ranges from 30-50 amp depending on location within each park. "The sites are very nice and well maintained.
