Very nice and spacious.

Amazing views and spacious layout. Bathhouse are far and few between and nothing special. The views are what really make it worthwhile.

Quiet Campground Over Lake Ontario

We camped at Golden Hill over the weekend of July 24-26, 2020. Due to COVID, advance reservations are required to book a spot at any NY state campground. We had site 47 in loop C, which was across the road from the lake view sites. I recommend sites 40-45 for lake-front views. Loops A and B were more crowded and more suitable to RV trailers and rigs (we were camping in a pop-up camper). Site 47 was large and had a few trees. The campfire ring was right against the pad, which made it difficult to position our pop-up so that it was away from the fire ring.

Things to consider: There are 2 bathrooms in the campground, one near the A-B loops and one near the entrance. It was quite a hike in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom from our site. Some sites in the A-B loops are right next to each other, and we preferred the space for the sites in the C loop.

Wonderful things: The views are spectacular, particularly at sunset. The campground was quiet at night. The Niagara Wine trail is close to this campground, and Niagara Falls is about a 50 minute drive away. We hiked Devil's Hole and Whirlpool State Parks on this camping trip. The showers in the bathrooms were phenomenal - very clean with hot water and a private dressing area next to the shower. Showers were ADA compliant and had shower seats.

Peaceful Facility

Definitely a clean and well maintained campground. The good thing about this site is that there is a great bathroom available and very relaxed environment. There is also a Frisbee gulf course, basketball court, fishing, boat launch available. I do recommend bringing your own gear.

Lake Ontario Lighthouse

Quaint site with historic buildings, nice views, great sunsets. Really clean and modern facilities, lots of water and electricity sites. Sites are semi-private, some right next to the shore. Nice isolated spot between Buffalo/Niagara Falls and Rochester. If you’re with a group definitely rent the cabins.

Amazing lake views

It was glorious to sleep to the sound of waves hitting the shore and wake to the panoramic Lake Ontario view. The old lighthouse is a beautiful building, and the grounds in general are super well kept. There is a gazebo I would love to sit in for hours with a good book...

Home of the thirty mile light house

Be sure to visit the light house on your visit. With standard sites and a beautiful water for fishing this camp ground is great for a weekend or even for a day hike or a nice game of frisbee golf. Lots of history at this place!

Lakeside Sunsets and Sunrises

The best part of Golden Hill is being right on the shore of Lake Ontario. The Lakeside sites are the best bet as you get an unobstructed view of the incredible sunrise and sunset over the lake. The shade and privacy is nothing to speak of, but the views make up for that. The lighthouse is also worth checking out. There are also Yurts here that can be rented.
