Description

Hotel Luna Mystica is a vintage trailer hotel and campground in Taos, NM. We are an independent property, located 15 minutes from downtown Taos, near the Gorge Bridge, Mamby Hot Springs and Earthship Biotecture. We are also next door to Taos Mesa Brewing, a full restaurant and venue. Our camp sites are primitive but we do have a free standing tiny house with 2 indoor bathrooms/showers, 2 outdoor showers, and a utility sink with great drinking water on the outside. We have WiFi which may help as cell service is spotty on the west side of Taos. Access to our brand new lounge! Sites are not marked, we prefer to let people find places that feel good to them. The area is safe. No creepy crawlies, just coyotes, bunnies, friendly dogs and a cat. There are fire pits and wood is available for purchase on site. Please respect neighbors, campground is mellow.

Vintages, Views & Brews!

Hamlet went to visit his fun cousins for the weekend -- Diego, Thelma, Louise, Frida, Ralphie, Sunnie, and others– all vintage campers available for rent at this amazingly cool space just outside of Taos, NM.

It was Thanksgiving weekend, and while many of the campers were fully booked, there was lots of space in the dry camping area just beyond the vintage trailers. There’s lots of room here for dozens of campers, vans and RV’s. There are no trees or shade structures in the dry camping area, just a few randomly placed fire rings. But camping here means you have access to the very clean bathrooms/showers, water, and other services at the "hotel."

Surprise!  The weather went from day-time highs in the 60’s to blizzard conditions with overnight lows in the teens.  We busted out our Airskirts Insulation to help keep our floor warmer and our heated air inside.

It’s a great place to base your Taos adventures, hiking near the Rio Grande Gorge, or going further up into the mountains. Nearby activities include fishing, rafting, cycling, mountain biking, and skiing in winter.  Across the road from the campground is the Taos Mesa Brewery where you can get amazing craft beers and some great food.

It was the perfect place to hang out on a cold, wintery night.

Taos also has all the restaurants and services that you might need, and some of the best southwest eateries you’ll find anywhere. The campground is ideal for solar power, as is the New Mexico weather. We also had no problem connecting with Starlink and had LTE in the campground.  If you love the combination of vintages, views, and brews...check this fun place out!

"Camping" in a funky vintage trailer

My partner and I spent a night here in December with our dog. The trailer was really cute- we had "Jazzy," which had a separate bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen/living area. The kitchen was fully stocked with cookware, silverware, and coffee. The views from the large back window were unbeatable.

There was a heater, but we thought it got a little cold at night. We're not big folks, and we found it a little "cozy" in places- worth considering if you're a taller/larger person.

Good place

Funky vibe, cool staff, indoor plumbing, showers, and Wi-Fi (somewhat, it gets overloaded with a full campground). Right outside Taos. Can kinda hear road noise but not too bad.

Retro fun!

This place is awesome. So many cool and different vintage trailers to chose from, we’ll appointed and in a beautiful setting. We stayed here in December and were plenty warm. The bathhouses are nice and clean too. Close to Taos, skiing and earthship bio culture. Great place to stay!

Stayed in the dispersed area - No frills camping

We stayed one night out in the dispersed camping area and pretty much had the huge area all to ourselves. I wouldn't say it was the greatest site in the world but the sunrise in the morning was pretty spectacular. And it was nice to have a clean bathroom and shower to use if we wanted to.

There are makeshift fire rings out in the dispersed area and it's really just a free for all - just park anywhere!

I took a few pictures of the campers you can stay in but never saw the inside of one.

Only about a 10-15 minute drive into Taos. There is also a brewery literally right next to the campground but it was closed the day we were there.

Enchanting

Parking my vintage Shasta on the mesa of Luna Mystica is like no other place I’ve ever parked. Rustic site with a nearly 360 view to die for, I just picked a place and parked. A very short walk to the best private bathrooms I’ve ever used at a campground. A true artist’s haven, there is also a brewing company on site, and a dozen or so adorable vintage parked campers that make the esthetics top notch.

Come for the beer. Not the camping

We wanted to love this place. A few years ago, we had our wedding at Taos Mesa Brewing, which is conveniently located next door. When we rolled up to the hip Luna Mystica, we told to camp as far away as possible from the airstreams. Then, we were charged $25 for dispersed camping. No shade, no amenities, no nothing. Another camper secretly gave us the code to the bathrooms (designated for the airstream campers). Confused by the complete lack of amenities for $25 (and not wanting to roast in the sun while feeling like second class citizens, we left after a few hours and camped elsewhere.

Great for car camp visit

Stayed here one night. For only $10 a night, it was ideal. Got hot showers and woke up with the mountains in view. The Taos Brewery next door was a fun spot for a few drinks as well. Staff was very friendly.

Brewery/music venue/campground heaven

This place is so cool. There is a “hotel” made up of old airstreams and other RVs, a solid brewery and a music venue that brings pretty serious acts in.

We paid $10 to park our van essentially. Parked in the gravel lot, had acces to showers and bathrooms. There was also tent camping for $10 a night as wel and that looked really legit with unobstructed views .

10/10 will 100% go back to this spot and support what they are doing

Updated Vintage Trailer Glamping

This place is cool. Its made up of about 15 1960-70's trailers, all updated and stylish, on the wide open Taos Mess. There's also tent camping available for $10 a night. Showers (indoor and outdoor) and bathrooms are all really nice and clean. The owners and employees are all a joy. 15 minutes to downtown Taos. There is a brewery right across the street with live music and an awesome patio.
