GuideStumbled on this location by chance when another location nearby was closed. Long forest road with approximately 8-10 dispersed campsites along the road. All sites seemed decently big with most having river access. Our site had a fire pit and was away from the road, which is a plus. My boyfriend was able to fish along the river at our site while I stayed in the hammock- super nice. Even though we were right next to the water, there were less bugs than anticipated. Downside was that the forest road was pretty busy during the day and there was some trash left behind from previous campers. Good location and only 20 or so minutes from town.
ScoutI was on a long road/camping trip and knew I needed to pull over to catch some sleep. This spot was about 20 minutes out of town and was perfect. There were about 4 pullouts off this forest road for camping, only two were occupied on Memorial Day weekend. The spot I chose was the fourth one was nice little clearing not visible from the road. It had several great tent spots, tall trees, lots of shade. There were rock fire circles for when there wasn’t a burn ban. I only heard two cars in the entire 12 hours I was there. The path into the clearing had some deep ruts, but I stayed to the side and my little Corolla did great.
I have metro T-Mobile and had signal depending on where I stood.
GuidePlenty of space to find a camp site from right off the road to venture back farther . Good cell service some tv stations . Lots of off road trails for dirt bikes and ATV . How ever lots of trash around not just blown in trash but trash brought out and dumped . So look around and choose you area accordingly. Not a lot of shad either .

RangerI loved my stay here. This location is so prime for visiting all the sights in Taos, and there are many. The campground is compact but still, private. There are several pull-thru sites for big rigs, many back-in sites with water/elec. hookups, and some tent sites in the back of the campground and a few sites at the front by the office that are back-in without any amenities.
There is a dump station, a dishwashing area, bathrooms with very hot showers, a playground, and office. No open fires are allowed only propane or other contained fires. Cell phone service and wifi thru the campground is available tho not fast when everyone jumps on at the same time. During my stay everyone was very quiet. My only complaint was a light that stayed on all night for security.
Restaurants are really close enough to walk to and there is an Ace Hardware store across the street for emergency repairs. Old Town Taos is 3 miles away.

GuideEarly May. Got caught up in a spring snowstorm of several feet. Tent was buried two nights running. The site is worth the wait . . . No services, running crick throughout. Widely spaced sites. Stunning canyon forest with beautiful open areas, an easy walk forest road, more difficult hikes if you’re willing. Stayed 2 weeks as our journey continues . . .
