Wow!

Wow, in this campground you really are on the middle of it. I stayed here on my first trip to the park and had never seen the read rocks or anything like it! This place is great because you are right in the heart of the park while also being close to the cafes and shops in zion. We were happy to be able to walk from our camp site to Zion Canyon brewing after a long day of hiking. This campground is also on a shuttle stop through the park which is really convenient but I recommend bringing bikes to explore!

Beautiful spot in the middle of the desert!

Capitol reef is such an interesting park and so much less crowded than the others in Utah. You’ll see a lot of the same impressive red rocks but fruita is located near the orchards which is such a nice oasis. It’s still the desert, so don’t expect tons of privacy or shade. But the spaces are nice enough and perfect drive into the rest of the park!

Campground closed

Great place to visit but the campground is closed at the moment :(

Fine place for a night bud wouldn’t seek it out

This place was alright. By a small lake off the freeway. As others have noted there is a loud train that goes by that we heard maybe 3-4 times through the night. This seems to be less a place that people come stay a night and more a place where people live. Shower war out of order and no soap in the bathroom. Hardly saw another person. The lawn to camp on is nice and green and we’ll maintained and the stars are nice. I’d recommend it as a place to stop through and spend the night. But wouldn’t seek it out.

The best!

This place is a great escape but still so close to the near town of astoria. The park is huge with regular and rv sites, yurts, beach’s, fields and even a ship wreck. You can forage for mushrooms here in the fall if you know what you’re doing. Bathrooms are nice nice as are the yurts. You’ll love it.

Just go!

This place is so much! They have a variety of accommodation from vintage trailers, bunk house to bring-your-own trailer. They often have live music happening but they also have an i impressive record collection in the lodge. There’s a nice honor store on the lobby and bikes for borrow as well as a sauna. It’s located right between the bike path on the beach and town.

Very special place but keep and open mind

This place is so so special, beautiful, and a bit extreme. I’d consider this less of a place for recreational camping and more an alternative lifestyle safe place. There’s lot of interesting artsy folk who live out here full time for a different way of life. That said, it seems decently visitor friendly as long as you’re respectful. If you stay, please go to the Ski Inn. Such a lovely bar with locals!

Awesome!

This state park is a great alternative if you have dogs. The views are essentially the same as canyon lands but less crowds highly recommend!

A real gem!

We rolled into this place late at nite and we’re able to grab an awesome spot right by the river! When we woke up we could believe the views. There’s a little trail system you can wonder above that gives great views too. The sites are well maintained with fire rings and picnic table and there’s a pit toilet as well. Was so impressed this spot was free!

Great for a spot near the city

We came in here after a long day of travel and we’re able to snag a site without a reservation. It’s a koa, so not much privacy to be expected but there was a decent amount of trees and well kept facilities. Would recommend if you’re looking for a place in town!

Decent spot for a night

We stopped here for one night to stay in flathead lake. We drove in on a Tuesday in July and we’re able to snag a site without a reservation. The sites down by the water are close together but give great access to the lake and the dock. There’s isn’t much a beach there though and lot of gnats by the water. We were up hill so it was kind of hike for us but not terrible. There’s pit toilets and communal water spigots. Cost was $34 a night for out of staters. Close to lots of u pick cherry farms too which was fun.

Expensive

We were stuck a night in Missoula waiting for a new tire, so booked this place in town. We have a nice self converted camper van and were told we couldn’t stay due to their “no sleeping in vehicles rule” our options were to go buy a tent or cancel our reservation without refund. After some back and forth, the manager finally agreed to let us stay home night in the van. We had a tent site for an unheard of $80. The site was decent, as far as KOAs go but I wouldn’t stay here if you have other options. They had a foot truck and a decent hot tub but be prepared for tons of screaming kids too

Great beach camping!

Awesome place to pull up the beach, listen to waves and make a fire. No trash collection so make sure you pack it out. Also, I did see some rats or something running around the dunes so just be aware

Perfect road trip stop!

I can’t say enough good things about this place. Situated right on the river with awesome hot springs! There multiple pools to chose from and for privacy. They have running water and showers too. A cute little hot spring cat hung out with us in the lounge area around the pool. The springs & camping are located right in town and it really is a cool little town!

Nice views but crowded

We stopped here on our way from las cruces to white sands. It’s very popular pullout spot for good reason- awesome views of the Organ Mountains! We pulled in late and easily found a spot, but cars here really are parked side by side. It’s a good spot for a nights rest.

Dark sky’s!

We stumbled in this place on the way to Austin from big bend. The camp is in a dark sky reserve and had an astral photographer there showing us the telescopes. Pretty unforgettable!

Must visit!!!!

These hot springs are some of my favorite in the USA! The camping is nothing crazy, but for access to the springs it’s well worth it. Camp has a mix of tent and rv sites as well and some vintage tour busses and trailer for rent. Bathroom was plenty clean too

Retro fun!

This place is awesome. So many cool and different vintage trailers to chose from, we’ll appointed and in a beautiful setting. We stayed here in December and were plenty warm. The bathhouses are nice and clean too. Close to Taos, skiing and earthship bio culture. Great place to stay!

Camping is kind of lame

This place is really cool and in the great town of marfa! We didn’t stay in one of their trailers or cabins but rather booked a camping spot through hipcamp. This turned out to be just a camp anywhere you want in the parking lot situation which was a little disappointing. Bathrooms are open air and outside as welll, so be advised if you are visiting in the winter.

Another world!

This place is so cool! Truly never seen anything like it. Tent sights are great and nestled in the rocks. We drive in with no reservation and we’re able to find a spot. The yurt spots are really something special though! There’s also a cool frisbee golf course in the camp ground.
