Nice sites way back in the woods

Close to Iron Mountain but tucked away in the woods enough to be secluded. We stayed during the week and we're the only site occupied. Very peaceful, lake was very nice

Good stay an hour from Pictured Rocks Natl Lakeshore

Nice site with electricity for our 17' travel trailer on the edge of Indian Lake. Could have gone swimming right off our site if later in summer. Weather was cold at the campground but we had sunshine for a nice hike to the beach at Pictured Rocks Natl Lakeshore. Clean bathrooms with only 1 shower…

Munising, MI

Super close to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore! This KOA is pretty nice. Has a dog run, facilities including showers/bathrooms/laundry, along with a general store! Decent lot sizes for tents and cabins, we were there in the fall so not as packed in, but would imagine it would be tight during peak…

Very nice- good service

Very nice - we were in site 31. Plenty of space and we did not feel like we were too close to others. They had lots of hiking trails near and a bar and pizza place. Nice store, nice staff, pool/ hot tub, and right on the river. You are also able to take a nearby ski lift up the mountain for some…

Great state park for families

Van Riper State Park is a must-visit if you’re traveling through Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  It’s popular year-round, although camping is only open between May and October. Stop for the day to hike the trails and go for a swim, or stay a week and enjoy the sunsets and serenity.

The state park…

  • One of the great views from the hiking trails (of the landscape, not of us. LOL)
  • Site 43 -- a nice end spot in the modern campground.

Decent if you are the only one there...

The sites are quite close, and it is right off the highway.  Not too far from the dam and there are trails everywhere.  Certain times of the year they will have events and it brings out the rowdy crowd.

peaceful, beautiful, quiet

This campground was a wonderful surprise to stumble across after staying one night at a nearby campground that was so buggy it was unbearable. This campground still had its fair share of bugs, but not nearly as many as Blind Sucker in early July. It was very quiet and peaceful here, with so much…

Wish we could have stayed longer!

During our trip through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan this was one of my favorite campgrounds. The only reason we didn't stay longer was fear of our rig not starting up again and leaving us stranded. This campground had LARGE campsites with 2 separate loops and plenty of room between campsites.…

Love it!

We stayed at this campground over the summer and really enjoyed our time there. There’s access to many of the local mountain bike trails directly from the campground. Overall the sites are good size and offer a decent amount of privacy. We walked around the campground and there are many sites that…

Tucked just far enough away.

Only 5 sites at this campground. When I reserved through the NF website, they didn’t even have an accurate map to display how the sites were laid out.

Sites 1, 2 and 3 are all decently spaced apart. Sites 4 and 5 are seemingly connected for double reservations.

Plenty of trees for hammocks and…

My literal home away from home during my travels.

I have absolutely nothing but positive things to say. I am more one to frequent rustic and secluded campgrounds. I found this place on a whim years ago... and now JackPine has a special place in my heart.

When I need to truly rest my bones, this is my go to in this neck of the woods.

Clean and…

Great municipal camping oasis

This campground is in Marquette, near Northern Michigan University. But once you're camped there, you won't feel like you're in one of the largest cities in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The sites are generally spacious and they have a lot of options to choose from based on what rig you have…

Great location in proximity to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, adequate

This is very close to the Munising/Pictured Rocks/ Christmas Michigan areas.

The campground is adequate, but not the most awesome bathrooms.

There was a great trail near our campsite that had signs and info about the birds in the area (great for young ones especially).

Adequate place for…

Lovely Autumn Color & Quiet

Sitting about 30-40 feet above a small lake are about 10 small-medium first come, first served campsites. All sites are primitive, with a picnic table and fire ring. No electricity, but we run on solar so are always set with what we need.

Sites are close-ish together which is perfect for…

  • Small sites, not private, but quiet place all around
  • Autumn reflections!
