      Bearbrook Pros and Cons

Con: Signage is awful! Hard to find park, office and cabins! Once there, Looong drive to both campground and Cabins.

Pro: cabins are on a remote lake. Perfect for star gazing! Rustic but comfy (beds) cabins. Bring all your own stuff. No electricity, so no lights. Our cabin had a steep path. Others did not.

      Great time with kids

We had a great time here camping with our kids and grandkids. River is not much to look at but the pool was great and there were great events like foam parties, DJ at the pool, pancake breakfast and live music to name a few. Staff were friendly and helpful.

      Thousand Trails Moody Beach

Nice for one or two nights

The 30 amp sites are very close together.

The campground layout is quite unusual, with campers parked lengthwise along the road. This means that you share the space where you sit outside with the camper behind you, resulting in very little privacy. It feels cramped, and you’re constantly close to your neighbors. If you’re looking for a peaceful, secluded camping experience, this setup might not be ideal.

The facilities are ok but dated and could be cleaner. The beach is a short 15-minute walk.

For children, there is a swimming pool, a basketball court and a small playground

All in all, this is a good campground if you are on the road and want to spend a night or two exploring the area.

      Bear Brook State Park

Nice, Clean but crowded, and most sites are close together

This was my first time staying at Bear Brook, it's an easy campground to get to, once you get to the west gate it's about a 4-mile drive to the campground, if you're coming from the east it's about 1.5 miles.

The first impression was impressed by the size and how organized everything was. Check-in was easy, then driving to my site (#7) took a minute.

That's when I realized the sites were 4' apart in the section I was staying in. Other sites on each end are further apart.

The campground has a beach, a playground, a Ball field, and a store. The roads are all easy to drive on but narrow.

      It was just ok.

It was an ok experience. We don’t like the campsites being sideways or parallel to the road, it feels strange. Bathrooms were down for cleaning but when they opened they smelled of bleach and still had gobs of hair in the drains of multiple shower stalls.

      Fiddleheads and Moose

The seven maple trees that greeted guests may be gone, but not the spirit of the campground. Staff were helpful and cheerful along with the chain saw carved bears that greeted me. A very nice shady campground with clean bathhouses - one with a moose guarding the entry - and common areas.

      Big and Friendly campground

This campground is pretty big, sprawled out with lots to do, like tubing, cornhole, arcade, pools with slide and more. Customers service was great both at check in as well as later when getting wood delivered. Sites are descent and bathrooms are nice and modern. I would recommend this campground to my friends and family and will come back.

Consider Thousand Trails Membership for Better Value

Consider the Thousand Trails membership when booking this site. Our annual membership fees basically covered what it would cost to camp here for two weeks.

The campground has good proximity to Orchard Beach and Portland. However, the spots are pretty tight, and the WiFi is awful away from the registration office. We were in the wooded area, but those camping on the outskirts seemed able to utilize their Starlink.

The dog park and pool were small but nice. The bathroom facilities were pretty good, though they weren't cleaned as often as they should be.

      A little bit of heaven

Spacious Skies Minute Man is a forested haven so close to Boston that you think you are in the country. There are so many cool things to do just a short drive away. The nearby town of Ayer is right out of a Norman Rockwell painting.  Concord is only 30 minute drive away with two full days of revolutionary historic sites, and famous people home tours such as Louisa May Alcott. Lots of good coffee spots and restaurants in historic downtown Concord so spend a morning in this special city.

Good for reservation in the last minute

We went just for one night with a tent because our 5 years old loooves camping, so we reserved this at the last minute, and when we get there, well, the tent sites are way too close to each other, thank god we just had one other guy next to us but was very uncomfortable being too close, no privacy at all, and lots of noise at night from kids staying in RVs, screaming until 11pm. The bathrooms were a little dirty, but not awful, and we didn’t read well that the place doesn’t have a grill for cooking, just the fire ring, so we had go hunting for one at a store very far away. Forget about cellphone signal, it was 0.

      Excellent Owners

Tom was a gem of a guy! He was very helpful, accommodating, and kind. Because we are fully self-contained and need no hook-ups, he gave us a small discount on our night. We stayed right next to a cute pond on site 69. There was a family with several smaller children who were fishing g the pond. It was so cute to hear them squeal with glee when they caught a fish.

Tom takes great care to keep the grounds and the bathrooms/showers very clean. It is obvious he takes pride in ownership.

I would stay here again and for much longer next time.

      Clean, family friendly place!

Stayed here with my family and had so much fun! There are so many things to do. We played at the playground, went hiking, fishing, swimming in the pool & went down the slides! There is a weight limit on the slides. There was also a splash pad in the shallower area of the pool. There was even an arcade and a store we got some supplies and souvenirs. The site are close together but it wasn’t the worst. Very clean and well maintained place with a great staff!

      Great PLace to Stay

My family and I stayed at this campground overnight on the way to and from Acadia. The staff was very nice to deal with. The sites were ample size and space for our rig and needs. The pool looked very nice, and the rec room was impressive, with games and movies for campers to enjoy. The campstore was very nice and even had a video library that campers could sign out movies to watch free of charge ( their selection was pretty impressive). There was bocce, horshoes and volley ball courts that were well maintained and had the needed equipment so that anyone interested could play. The dog park was nice as well.  The campground is close to many restaurants and gas stations also. Cell service with AT&T and T-Mobile was great.

      Did the trick

I was looking for a nearby, bare bones campground with a shower and cell service that would do the trick while traveling to a weekend event. I reliably had 1 bar AT&T while at the campsite, but more as I got closer to the bathhouse. The campground also want too far from the grocery store and civilization. Our site and others had some difficulty with drainage, as it’s been a super wet summer. There is a community fire pit with s’mores, which was cute! Swimming area closed for bacteria levels, but lots of other nearby activists for the recreation seeker.

Close-ish to town. Zero cell signal.

This is more of a place where people actually live. They do however have temporary spots for 1-2 weeks at a time.

It’s just a few mins away from town. Would stay here again if there wasn’t a closer campsite with better cell signal.
