Tunica Hills Campground offers walk-in tent and cabin options with well-separated sites for campers with pets. Campers can choose from various accommodations including A-frame cabins, tent sites, and glamping options. While sites are remote with a hike-in requirement, the host provides ATV transportation for gear if needed. The portapotties are exceptionally clean, and the campground features an outdoor kitchen, dishwashing station, and shower facilities. Outdoor showers provide adequate privacy even during cooler months. Richard K. Yancy Sand Levee Campground provides free primitive camping with pets allowed in a natural setting with fire rings. The campground offers access to excellent fishing spots and wildlife viewing, though campers should be prepared for encounters with raccoons, possums, and armadillos.

Multiple hiking trails are accessible within a short drive from these pet-friendly campgrounds. Clark's Creek is approximately 8 miles from Tunica Hills, offering excellent day hiking opportunities with varied terrain that's unusual for Louisiana. The geographic features around Tunica Hills are distinctive, with ravines and elevation changes not commonly found elsewhere in the state. Visitors should bring all necessary supplies as the nearest stores are miles away. Spring Bayou Wildlife Management Area Campground provides electric hookups and water access for pets and their owners, though the mosquitoes can be substantial during certain seasons. Campers with dogs should be aware of potential wildlife encounters including alligators, snakes, and other swamp creatures, particularly at sites surrounded by swamp and woods like Spring Bayou.

      Acadiana Park Campground

      Great location

I stayed here in February 2025 for about 6 nights. It was very convenient and pleasant. Nice walking paths and a really interesting nature center. Not many amenities, but it's clean and quiet. They have a shower house that is not entirely reliable. BUT, still  well worth the time spent there as it's close to so much else in Lafayette itself and the surrounding region. Camping in Louisiana is sparse and very rustic, in general, so finding this well located spot was a huge bonus. I'm planning another stay in 2026. Hopefully the campground host,Jarod, is still there!

      Great place!

This is the second time I have camped here and both times have been great! The park is on the banks of the Mississippi River just south of the bridge on the Vidalia. LA side. Great walking, biking, running path that you can follow under the bridge. Dog Park, playground for the kids, and pool. The staff always seem pleasant and there are plenty of squirrels, which my French Bulldog loves to chase. He’s a squirrel dog in his own mind! 🤣

      Very nice RV park

This is a very nice RV Park. It’s big. Almost 150 sites, with water, sewer and 30/50 amp electric. There are also a few tent sites with electricity. It’s well kept-grass is mowed, grounds and facilities are clean. There is a playground, a dog park, pool and hot tub. Showers and bathrooms are nice. Laundry room, small grocery/gift shop. And a guest lounge. There is a paved walking trail along the river. There is also a public boat ramp about 1/4 mile away for access to the Mississippi. Internet was sport. With this many Class A motorhomes and people streaming media the server can’t keep up.

      Relaxing and charming!

We enjoyed this campground so much.  Helpful staff, clean campground and beautiful scenery on the Mississippi River looking over to Natchez, MS.

They have a dog park, fenced in area, to let them run and play.

      Big Rig Friendly

Nice wide roads in the park so easy to access your site. Pool area is very nice. There are tables, chairs, rocking chairs and recliners for your use. There is a large shaded area if you don’t want to sit in the sun. The lawns throughout the park are very well maintained. Very level sites with shade. A very nice enclosed dog park along with many paths to walk your dog. Utilities all work well. Like most campgrounds, there are lots of cigarette butts on the ground and dog poop. I don’t understand why people can not pick up after themselves! WIFI is spotty along with the over air channels. There were many dead large limbs in the trees above our site. We had a bad rain storm and many fell onto our roof. Luckily, we had no damage.

      Great place

Short stay or long stay?? They are great for either. We stayed for 6 days. Loved the fishing. Love the site. Loved the people. We cannot wait to come back here. Sewer, electric, and water worked perfect. Dog park. Laundry was spotless. Crazy Cajuns get rowdy on weekends at the clubhouse. Join them you won’t regret it. If anything watch for amazing sunsets and sunrises!

Camp Margaritaville RV Resort Breaux Bridge

      Super fun place to be

Our site was $63 a night for 5 nights & $79 for two nights. We got a weekly rate of $574.16

We were in Site# 2144 The check in was at 12pm and Check out is at 11am.
We had Full hook- up with a concrete pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.

The site was easy to level.

Our site was fairly shaded with one tree. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring.

It is an easy access to the campground from highway -(less than 1 mile from highway).

There is free WiFi. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen but do have quite a few community fire pits.
They sell wood but were out the entire week we were there.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They also allow you to rent golf carts. It is beneficial to have a golf cart to get around since it is a large campground. They would not let us use our e-bikes around the campground.

They do have multiple swimming pools including a water playground and splash pad. There is a huge hot tub. We especially loved the 21+pool with swim up bar. Water Amenities are open from March 29th-October 26th. You can also rent poolside cabanas. They have a few smaller ponds for catch & release fishing.

They have a decent general store with some food, accessories, and clothes options.

There is a separate Activity Center for kids. There are tons of scheduled activities for kids like gem mining, tie dying, candle making, candy bar bingo, sand art, etc.

There is a Playground. They also offer pickleball, cornhole, and basketball sport court. There is a Game room for kids. They have a workout room for adults.

There are three bars (one serving food) and a separate concession stand that also serves food.

Right outside of the park is a delicious restaurant/fresh seafood market with a daiquiri drive thru (many flavors).

There is live music on site!

The streets are paved and good for riding bikes. There is not really anywhere to ride bikes outside of campground.

They have multiple RV slip options along with cabins/cottages/villas for rent. Tent camping is not allowed.

They have many shower houses. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a few laundry facilities. They allow you to use cash or credit card. It is approximately $2 to wash and $2to dry a load.

They have a fenced in dog park (Barkaritaville) with a dog wash. It is located in the back far corner of the park.

Bugs were a little bit of an issue and bug spray was definitely needed.

There were no trails to hike in the campground but the park is so huge, it is a great walk within itself.

We shopped at the local market outside of the park and the Piggly Wiggly. We went on the Cajun Food Tour and definitely recommend this (link on CM’s website).

    Guide to Lettsworth

Tunica Hills Campground offers primitive camping with unusual topography for Louisiana. Sites sit among ravines with significant elevation changes, creating separated camping zones that allow for more privacy. The area features loess soil formations that support unique plant and animal species not found elsewhere in the state. Nearby Clark Creek Natural Area provides additional wilderness exploration with uncommon terrain for this region of the Gulf Coast.

    What to do

Fishing spots for all experience levels: At Richard K. Yancy Sand Levee Campground, campers can access prime fishing locations. "Nice nature feel to the campground..its primitive but does offer potable water for cleaning equipment and such," notes David D. The fishing areas provide good catches while enjoying the natural setting.

Target practice opportunities: Sherburne WMA offers both camping and shooting facilities. "Very buggy, per usual in the bayou, so bring bug spray! Each campsite on the river side had a really great spot to fish, and there's plenty of fish to go around," reports Joshua H. The adjacent shooting range includes archery, pistol, and rifle areas, making this a practical stop for hunters preparing for the season.

Hiking trail variety: The region offers several hiking options with varying difficulty levels. "Clark's Creek is nearby for superb hiking," says Fabein D. about trails near Tunica Hills Campground. The trails showcase the unusual terrain with creek beds, waterfalls, and elevation changes that contrast with Louisiana's typically flat landscape.

    What campers like

Secluded tent sites: Campers appreciate the privacy at Tunica Hills Campground. "My boyfriend and I camped here in October and had a blast. We enjoyed that it was walk in but still had running water and hook ups," shares Nicolette F. The campground maintains a natural setting while providing necessary amenities.

Wildlife viewing: The region offers numerous opportunities to observe native species. "We had a few visitors (raccoons, possums and armadillos) but they didn't bother me," notes Tyler H. about his stay at Richard K. Yancy Sand Levee Campground. Campers should remain alert for these nighttime visitors, which typically keep their distance when proper food storage practices are followed.

Natural terrain features: The area's unique geography creates distinctive camping experiences. "One of the most beautiful camp sites in LA. The geography here is not like anywhere else I have seen in Louisiana very nice and the owner is super accommodating," says Kase D. about Tunica Hills. These formations create natural divisions between sites and provide exploration opportunities directly from camp.

    What you should know

Weather and bug considerations: Mosquitoes remain active even outside summer months. At Sherburne WMA, one camper noted, "Swarms of mosquitoes on March 2, 2024. I wouldn't plan to cook outside." Bring appropriate repellent regardless of season, especially for campsites near water.

Transportation limitations: Some campgrounds restrict vehicle access. Tunica Hills Campground requires a hike-in approach. "Visitors can choose to hike into the campground or be driven in by ATV if available," explains Tess E. This system helps maintain the natural setting but requires planning for gear transport.

Advance preparation needs: Limited services near campgrounds make preparation essential. "It's a peaceful place to camp. Just make sure you bring all your supplies you think you might need because there isn't any store for miles," advises Matthew J. about Tunica Hills. Plan meals, water needs, and equipment fully before arrival.
