Camp Carlson Army RV Park features paved roads throughout with primarily gravel RV pads that can accommodate big rigs. All new electrical and water, all sites have 50 amp despite the website stating only 30 amps."

"Nice sized sites, reasonable priced comparied to the KOA, all good full hookups, nicely kept, and most importantly it is in a safe country setting surrounded by large trees and on a dead end road."

Could never get anyone to contact us about a reservation. Phone or email. I’m glad we didn’t because we stayed not too far down at White acres campground which was a way better set up with more privacy. This is a very small campground and you are packed in like sardines with very little shade. Would not recommend if you’re passing through.
Amber and her family were accommodating from the very beginning! Offered a cash price for a discount. Allowed us to extend our stay without issue. Amber even helped us provide puppy day sitting while we did some of the tours so we would not have to leave our pup in the camper. Very clean and quiet private shaded campsites. We were at the very end site 46 and was very private. Would definitely stay here again! Very convenient place to stay when you’re on the Bourbon Trail.
Nice, quite, and relaxing stay. Fire rings need to be upgraded. They were small and rusted out.
Matthew allowed us into our site early and offered assistance to help with wheel chocks after escorting us to the site. Very communicative. Got a text on mowing day to give anyone time to move their items off the grass. Will definitely stay again when in the area.
Had a great time enjoying nature...
It was really easy to get checked in and set up. They have some amazing amenities to keep the kids entertained. It is right outside of Frankfurt so you are nice and close to many different attractions.
Campground seemed like a tight fit coming in near dark fall. Lots of shaded sites. Storm ran through that night and lots of dead limbs came down all over. Got a hole in my roof. Overall decent stay and had a cool neighbor
Love taking the kid to hardy lake. Smaller lake to fish on with a trolling motor canoe but big enough they allow gas motors. Have a few favorite sites for the camper.
RV sites near Wellington, Kentucky sit within the rolling terrain of central Kentucky where limestone bedrock creates distinctive landscapes dotted with springs and streams. Most campgrounds in this area experience four distinct seasons with hot, humid summers reaching 90°F and mild winters where temperatures typically stay above freezing. Electrical service varies between campgrounds, with several parks now offering upgraded 50-amp connections despite older listings showing only 30-amp availability.
Fishing opportunities: Taylorsville Lake State Park Campground offers access to a stocked lake, though some campers note it requires planning. "Visited multiple time. Decent place. Better if you have a boat (or rent one at the marina across the lake) good access to the lake, gets busy in the summer," writes Chris R.
Bourbon Trail exploration: Elkhorn Creek RV Park serves as a convenient base for distillery tours. "We stayed for several days so that we could visit distilleries on the Bourbon Trail. Frankfort is almost close enough to bicycle to. Lexington is less than an hour away. It was a great base for visiting many interesting places," reports Art Z.
Kayaking: Several waterways near Wellington offer paddling opportunities. "There's a place nearby that rents kayaks and canoes," mentions Amanda W. about recreation options near Elkhorn Creek RV Park. The Ohio River also provides water recreation options at campgrounds located along its banks.
Quiet locations: Brooks RV Park receives praise for its peaceful setting. "Nice sized sites, reasonable priced compared to the KOA, all good full hookups, nicely kept, and most importantly it is in a safe country setting surrounded by large trees and on a dead end road," notes Scott C.
Clean facilities: Campground bathhouses receive regular maintenance at most parks. "The bathroom was clean. The classic rock singer who came in and sang in the pavilion on Saturday night was fun," writes Art Z. about Elkhorn Creek RV Park. Another camper specifically mentioned, "the bath house was pretty immaculate for such a full weekend."
Family-friendly amenities: Taylorsville Lake State Park Campground offers playgrounds and spacious sites. "We camped there in July for my son's birthday party. We were near the restroom facilities which were very clean. The camping area was recently mowed. Plenty of parking for guests and tents," shares Heather K.
Site variations: Primitive camping areas have different characteristics than RV sections. "Most of the sites were really big, and there was plenty of space and trees in between. We stayed at site P02, but I don't recommend that specific site. It was probably the worst site in the primitive camp," advises Cassandra C. about Taylorsville Lake.
Seasonal staffing: Some parks have limited staff during certain times. "The biggest overall issue is the lack of staffing. I'm not sure if it's the usual or if there is a lack of staff in general but we got in shortly after 7PM and there was no ranger or staff to be found to get firewood," reports Justin S.
Cell service limitations: Camp Carlson Army RV Park has connectivity challenges. "The ONLY bad thing about this campground is that it is in a bowl -- no cell service, no satellite, no internet. Perfect for a QUIET getaway!!" explains Felicia H. Other Wellington area campgrounds may have stronger signals.
Dog-friendly options: Several RV sites near Wellington accommodate pets with dedicated facilities. "It was perfect for our kids and dogs. Kids were none stop walking the dogs, and scootering up and down the road. Everyone was so kind, there was even live music!" writes Josh S. about his stay at Elkhorn Creek RV Park.
Playground proximity: Choose sites near play areas to keep children entertained. "Playground was close and perfect for everyone to go run and play," notes Heather K. about Taylorsville Lake State Park Campground.
Security considerations: Swiss Haven RV Resort offers a secure environment for families. "This was a great little find right on the banks of the Ohio River. Family owned operation…and just the nicest people you could ever imagine," shares Stephen & Theresa B. about this option near Wellington.

Seasonal availability: Operating schedules vary considerably among RV sites near Wellington, Kentucky. "Stayed a week and it was a quiet park and the staff was helpful and friendly," mentions Richard Y. about Longview RV Park, which offers year-round access unlike some seasonal options that close during winter months.
