Quite seclusion

Very clean well maintained campsite with a vault toilet, no hook up's for RV's or campers. Several areas for camp fires already set up, as well as a boat ramp. We were able to pull right up to the lake and secure our own private area, major score there. Road leading into the camp does have a few dips here and there one needs to be aware of. I was able to get a 36' pull behind camper back here without four wheel drive but wouldn't try that during the raining season or if the road was wet. Only two other campers where present but we didn't notice due to there being enough space for privacy. There is also (I believe) a camp manager on site as well. If you like seclusion and quite this is the site.

Perfect for off-season solitude

I went in March and had the whole place to myself.  Only coyotes and owls at night.  Very peaceful.  It was clean and had an odor free vault toilet!  This one may be my new go-to spot during the winter months.

Very well kept and basic. Perfect for the old fashioned tent camper.

I went in March and had the entire place to myself.  There was a very clean vault toilet that had no odor at all and the place was free of trash.  It was very quiet except for the coyotes and owls (breeding season).  The cell service was extremely good.  Better than at home.  It may get more crowded during the on-season, but for off-season it was perfect for someone looking for quiet solitude.

Plenty of water access!

The lake is just down the road from our campsite and there is a trailhead bathroom right at the boat ramp!

The campsite itself is pretty enclosed, but there is no fire pit or electrical access. It’s pretty simple and honestly it’s a really good set up! The campsite was small and perfect for just a night in the woods! Highly recommend for a couple days, especially if you’re looking to live near the water!

Pishgah Bay - Land Between the Lakes

The Forest Service was going to log some 4,000 acres of hardwood trees in the Pishgah Bay area, but through many grassroot efforts, the Pishgah Bay Project has been axed (pun intended!) and the woods will remain. Good for us, because Pishgah Bay is a quiet back country camping area that is small, but quite functional. The Road leading back to Pishgah can be rough, but is usually passable in a car, however after periods of heavy rain, you may want to wait it out, and come visit after some road maintenance has been done.

Finally, quiet....ish

We discovered Pisgah Point Primitive camping area and boat ramp after our stay at Hillman Ferry Campground.

If you go directly to the boat ramp which is on 111A (gravel Rd) about 2 miles from the paved road there is camping right on the lake, no shade though and you have the boat ramp traffic.

The primitive site is about a 1/4 mile from the ramp off the road and will fit 5+ tents and vehicles. The North South trail runs right alone the backside of the campground. Little more privacy, woods and nature.
