Managed by Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, Barge Island Public Use Area at Birmingham Point sits at the end of Barge Island Road near Birmingham Point Campground, a privately owned facility next door. The public use area functions primarily as a boat ramp, with a porta-potty, parking, and a small dock on site. A tent camping symbol appears on the entrance sign, though the only feasible camping space is a thin grass strip along the road. Following the road straight leads to a small gravel beach area that draws anglers. Bring your own water, and confirm current access conditions before making the drive.
