Would Not Stay Here

I had a reservation at this park, but when We arrived and got a look at the park we quickly left. Mostly perm sites with old, run down campers. The park was dirty and seemed very sketchy. Would not stay here.

Quiet and empty

Quiet spot, 2 miles out of town. Little highway noise, for $10 with electric and water, it’s perfect! Good sunset view, small pond ( requires membership to fish) lots of birds around.

Quiet and Beautiful

Lovely camping in the National Cimarron Grasslands. Peaceful beauty all around. Only one other camper. Highly recommend if you are looking for off the beaten path. Vault toilets and water.

Sweet Spot near the Cimarron River

Well kept city owned RV park. Level concrete pads and covered picnic table. The RR trestle you see is the Samson of the Cimarron!

Great overnight stay

Nice quiet place with covered picnic tables (a bit weathered) , pretty level grassy spots. ~8 - 30 amp (no 50 amp) w water... and some more primitive camp spots as well. We were the only ones there so it was a great stop for $10! Stayed May 2021 - was dry when we arrived, rained that night - no…

Nice Oasis

Stopped at this nice out of the way campground en route to Minneapolis. Nice sites and price (only $5 for tent). Squeaky is really doing a good job keeping things clean and maintained!

Great water sport stop.

If you play on the water, then this might just work for you. There were no water hook ups. There is power available but every site is shared so no privacy. They are under trees so shade was good. Sites are unimproved and very soft when wet. Folks are generally nice.

Very minimal.

In the middle of seemingly no where... Great one night stop. A few electronic & water hook ups. No dump station that I've found. Dogs should be on leash, but no one here and no one to bother.

A small oasis

You wouldn’t believe it when you’re approaching it, since it seems near a road and behind the train tracks, and it seems to be near a refinery. But this 16-site, city-run park and campground is the kind of place I had been hoping to run across on my long drive. It has shady spots in an area where…

Secluded, peaceful

Had a great time camping here in early spring. Although the night was chilly & windy, this grassland provided us a comfortable place to sleep and a very peaceful night.

Not very many spots but nice fishing at small ponds. One pond has ADA access

Small playground nearby

Hiking on flat ground

Nice when nearby Cimarron River is running

Historical sites nearby.

No store at location but access to gas groceries etc. In nearby Elkhart

Unexpected Beauty

The Cimarron Grassland is an amazing part of the Great Plains ecosystem and definitely worth a look when driving through the southwest corner of Kansas. It will not be what you’re expecting! The sunrises alone are worth the price of admission, which was just $7 per night.

Just off the park driving…

  • Spacious campsites, ours was along the river.
  • Sunrise over the campground.
  • The Ogallala Aquifer runs through the campground.
