    Stone State Park Campground

    Crowded and Needs TLC

OK for a night. There are some nice trails and great views from the ridge above the river floodplain. Sites were cheek-by-jowl and the pit toilet was unpleasant.

Riverfront Campground — Ponca State Park

    Huge park

All sorts of activities are possible. Stopped for a night early in the camping season and I think we were the only ones in the entire park. Nice and quiet. Boatloads of trails.

    Scenic Park

    Just dumped

We just swung through to use the dump station. Super convenient and only $5. Was going to use the restroom while we were at it but the door has a number pad lock. I did have to stand on the waste hose at the station, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. @TKCompass on YouTube

    loess hills state forest

    Quiet with hiking

Easy access down and packed gravel road. When you get to the end of the road turn left. You will be looking at ‘Little Cemetery’. There aren’t any obvious spots but it looks like you can set up on either the left or the right. It is a field so you will need to do a little work leveling. Other than the coyotes it was very quiet and dark and a hiking trail starts at your back door. @TKCompass on YouTube

    Willow Lake Recreation Area

Pretty lake, lots of trails, nice campground spots

This is a very nice recreation area with about fifty spots. They all seem to have electric and water. And it's twenty five dollars a night. The spots are first come. First serve, there's a very nice bathroom with showers. The lake is small and meant for non. Motorized boats. There's a ton of trails around the outside of the park. If you follow the far outside one, it's almost three and a half miles.

    Sioux City North KOA

    Great Pass through stop

Easy off the high way stop. Again a bit pricey for what you get being a KOA, but can’t beat the easy on and off the highway if passing through. Didn’t really use amenities, but had plenty.

    Onawa-Blue Lake KOA

    Convenient and quiet

Conveniently located approximately 2.5 miles West of I29 and on the Eastern edge of Lewis and Clark state park which makes this KOA very quiet.

    Sac City Park

    Right on the Raccoon River

Nice clean campground with water and electricity at the RV sites. Some of the tent sites also have electricity. RV sites are $20 (for the 2025 season).
