A Touch Crowded for My Tastes

A friend and I came here with her pop-up tent for a random weekend in 2020 when the weather was absolutely perfect for camping - in the 70s the entire trip.

We arrived and were shocked to see that our site was basically on top of our neighbor's and it was not flat at all. Luckily, we weren't tent camping or it would've been a disaster.

We did have some lake views, although we were in the middle of the road so we didn't have our own private space like other sites did. We were in the non-electric area, but did have modern restrooms.

The restrooms were kept very clean and smelled of bleach at all times (a good thing during COVID). There is also a hiking trail that goes near the lake that is very close to the campground, so good access point for hikers.

One thing to note is how close the sites are to each other, especially for those in the electric areas. It was as if it was a little city with how many people/campers/RVs/campers there were. I wasn't a fan.

Just beautiful!

One of the best state park campgrounds I've grown to love with beautiful views, hiking, and boating

Hiking!

Really great hiking! We had 2 sites. # 181, 182. Tip: Don’t leave any food out at night. Raccoons own the campgrounds! Stole our bag of marshmallows from the picnic table while we were making s’mores! Hilarious!

Keeping it basic (Primitive nonelectric site)

Have to walk to the site but if you want nonelectric/ primitive that’s what you get. Water pump at either side of the entry. Some outhouses available. Trails close as well as fishing areas. Large sites for camping. Deer and wildlife seen in the mornings. Really nice way to get off the grid for a second without having to go too far.

Amazing time

Great trails and amazing primitive camp sites. Set apart from others so you can have family time!!! Recommend it.

Crowded, no room, unorganized

The campsites are so close to each other no privacy, there was a camper on both sides of us and we were in a tent when we arrived one neighbor had all there stuff (bicycles, dog, dog accessories, all in our spot, and they had helped thereselves to our picnic table, we saw a couple open spots next to us with a little more privacy so we asked if we could switch the lady said they were spoken for I stayed 2 nights no one ever showed up to them sites very unhappy will not return.

Very nice .

Nice place for big campers

Great time

The park is beautiful great hiking and biking. Rented kayaks and it was like glass on the lake. Very reasonable boat rentals. Campground was beautiful. Limit number of water sites but all have electric facilities were very well maintained. Too bad Covid closed the pool

Quiet, heavily wooded

Quiet, heavily wooded campground.  We arrived well after dark and had a bit of a time finding our site, but once we were set up it was very quiet.  Parking spot was paved.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHECKING ON THEIR WEBSITE TO SEE IF PART OF THE ROADS ARE CLOSED DUE TO CONSTRUCTION.  THEY HAVE ALTERNATE DIRECTIONS.  We missed that detail and ended up on a 30 minute long trek around 930pm…started on the interstate, then a state road, then a county road, then an unnamed road…if we had met oncoming traffic there would have been only room for one vehicle in a few places.

Perfect Quick Tent Camp

Close enough to home, but far enough away!
