It is best known for the refurbished Parrish Mill and Pond, a combination gristmill, saw mill, covered bridge and dam built in 1880. A group shelter near the bridge is popular for family reunions and parties. Some campsites sit right on the waters edge, while cottages with gas fireplaces and screened porches are nestled into the woods. The parks mill pond beckons anglers and paddlers to explore thick stands of cypress and tupelo trees draped with Spanish moss. Canoeists and kayakers can join the Park Paddlers Club. The pads left a little to be desired but talking to the owner they are working on that along with a lot of other improvements.
I work remotely and the WiFi was great for work and streaming.
The pond is very nice with some good fishing.

I’m new to RV life but this place is very nice, clean and well manicured. And only $40 a night. That seems very reasonable to me with full hookups. I hope every place is like this, but something tells me that isn’t the case!

GuideMy husband and I choose to stay here when in the Macon area. Stayed 3+ months in lot 57, 2 weeks in lot 45 and 1 week in lot 14. Wonderful owners that live on-site. There are several full time campers but never any riffraff. Lots of room for dog's to walk and run their humans. Propane fill station, WiFi, laundry room, shower house, bathroom's and a small playground. Easily accessible right off the highway, level sites, 30 & 50 Amp, Water & Sewer and many pull through sites. A pool would make it 5 stars for me 😀

Stayed here mostly to visit Rigby's and the aviation museum. My girlfriend loved the horses - different ones are coming and going frequently. My 6 year old had a great time with the other kids and pond and playground. Great facilities and staff.

Stumbled upon this after a relatively close campground was unhelpful for long term. This is a fresh park, many upgrades coming this year. The park has done great at speration of in progress and current campsites to avoid noise and congestion. The 2 laundrys are clean and feature a shower house-full bath, the manager and receptionist are friendly and responsive to any questions you may have. Great local businesses in Sandersville and close to plenty of fishing opportunities and scenic drives.

Stayed here overnight while returning from South Georgia. Was only camper that night, perhaps 10-12 other groups making use of lake/fishing vicinity further into the park -- all of whom exited the park at dark. There is a really nice covered pavilion overlooking the lake if you get rained out (4 picnic tables.) Bathrooms with flush toilets and hot water available 200 yards away from pavilion. Park is split in two sections. The upper section (when you first drive in) is where the camping spots are. The lower section has 3-4 small lakes popular with fishing. T-mobile showed 2 bars 5G allowing you to grab a 1 day fishing pass ($8) to satisfy permit.
GuideWe loved this campground because it’s in the middle of nowhere and it was so peaceful. We stayed for a week during the kids’ spring break. Such a beautiful setting with nearly all the campsites on the water. There’s not interstates, trains, airports nearby so it’s truly a quiet getaway. There’s a new bathhouse that was nice and clean. Plenty to do with boats, kayaks, paddle boats to rent. The staff and Rangers were very accommodating and welcoming. Campsites were nicely shaded. Just so picturesque! Would love to come back!

ScoutWe stayed here for five nights and boy do I wish we had planned to stay longer! Spacious sites, new and super clean facilities including bathrooms, showers and laundry… and the park sits on a man-made lake. There are also campfire rings and picnic tables. As far as“settings” go, 4 County RV Park is one of the most idyllic and peaceful we’ve encountered in our one year on the road. WiFi, electric, water, sewer, all were top notch. We met some very nice people here as well and the owners, Rebecca and Troy, could not have been nicer. It is obvious they take great pride in their property and they really care that everyone has a good stay. We were 30 minutes from Macon so it was easy to hop on Hwy 16 to get there and enjoy what Macon has to offer. We would come back to 4 County in a heartbeat and hope to one day.

TravelerStayed at this campground for a few days in Jan of 24. Very quiet and the owner is very friendly and accomodating. There is a free boat ramp into Coleman Lake for registered guests. There is a newly renovated laundry facility. its only $2.50 a load. My amputee wife loved that she could fit her wheelchair in the shower. There is also a restaurant and bar on property open on the weekends. There are trails all over for atv/utv's. There is also an outdoor bar for rent for big gatherings. We came here for one night and ended up staying for weeks. Would definitely return.
RangerRead through all the reviews and it seems to have come a long ways. There are more hiking trails, really nice docks and boats for rent and slightly better Verizon service. My Tesla wireless worked barely and without the cell phone extender I wouldn't have been able to work here. All in though they do a very nice job of providing private spaces and the cabins look amazing. It was in the teens outside so not floating on the lake for me but I would love to do that. The lake looks incredible.

We had pull thru site with full hookups. Everything worked and site was level. We made reservations and arrived after staff was gone. There was a detailed map and directions to get to our site. Worked great as a stopover to our final destination.
GuideWe stayed at George L. Smith State Park in Oct. 2023. We had a large, level, pull-thru site with water and 50 amp service. No sewer. There are sites on the water that some are large and some are close. Those do have a view and some are private.
The park was quite and peaceful for our visit. We really enjoyed paddling the pond and checking out the grist mill and covered bridge. The pond is black water with tons of cypress and tupelo trees throughout. Kind of mystical.
ScoutWe camped here over thanksgiving weekend and were the only ones camping. A few people here and there to visit during the day/evenining but we were the only ones overnight. Very remote and quiet. As others have said, no water or bathrooms. We did have two trucks come unload their loud boats at the ramp around 3:30-4am which was annoying but that’s the risk you take.

Idk what’s going on but management drives out any workers every 3 months, and overworks them, doing 18 hours a day, and doesn’t even pay some of them. That’s not normal, and highly suspicious.
It’s not a safe town or a safe park. Half of it is a trashy trailer park, and is crawling with drug addicts, alcoholics, and thieves. Cops would come by weekly.
DONT GO HERE.

The park has many amenities just a short walk away. Nearby golf course seems to be appreciated by several campers. Take a walk down to the dam and read about the construction of the park and the lake, by the CCC, in the 1930's
As of September 2023 the construction on the Cottages continues, so there is some noise during the day. But considering we were the closest to it, it was not bad.
