    Perry Ponderosa RV Park

    Safe, well kept campground

My husband and I choose to stay here when in the Macon area. Stayed 3+ months in lot 57, 2 weeks in lot 45 and 1 week in lot 14. Wonderful owners that live on-site. There are several full time campers but never any riffraff. Lots of room for dog's to walk and run their humans. Propane fill station, WiFi, laundry room, shower house, bathroom's and a small playground. Easily accessible right off the highway, level sites, 30 & 50 Amp, Water & Sewer and many pull through sites. A pool would make it 5 stars for me 😀

Little Ocmulgee State Park & Lodge

    Nice little park

Nice quiet park! Good assortment of pull through and back in sites, 30/50 amp sites. The campground is not flat, so some of the sites aren’t level, I did have to use a couple of boards to level my camper. Lots of trees.

Cabins, small lake, walking/bike trails. Trail was a good bit sandy. Small boardwalk on the trail. Not a golfer, but there is a course also.

Usually the hosts are excellent, very helpful!

Only complaint, only one dump station. Gets very busy with everyone leaving, so get there early!

    Al Sihah Shrine Park

    Quiet, Clean, Well Maintained

This is the nicest place to stay in the Macon area. I first checked out Safe Haven, and it was not a nice place. This place is run by the Shriners and apparently proceeds from the park go to support the children’s hospital. The campground area is huge with different site areas– short term, long term, and long-long term. I stayed one night in the short term area. There is a pond and a large event center with a commercial kitchen. Oddly, there are no bathrooms that I could find in the building. There are no bathrooms or showers anywhere in the park. It was designed for self-contained units. There are concrete pads with full hookups at each of the short terms sites but they are way too close together. I gave it a four but debated about a three because of site spacing and the lack of bathrooms/showers.

    Towns Bluff Park

    Great campground

This is a county campground. It takes Pass Port America for Sunday thru Wednesday. If you’re looking for a resort campground, go somewhere else, this out in the middle of the woods, isolated, quiet and very nice. The lady that runs the museum & campground is very nice. She will do anything within her power to make your stay great. The sites are water & electric with a dump site as you leave 30/50 amp pull through/ back in. All sites appear to be close to level. Hazelhurst & Baxley are reasonably close. Gas/Diesel within 3 miles. Good food at Jan’s Chicken & Ma’s close to Uvalda.

    Fair Harbor RV Park

Private even though it's right off the interstate

Absolutely love Fair harbor! The staff is great, they have a little store that sells amenities and lots of basic camping gear. Have 24 hour laundry, multiple showers with amazing water pressure, and multi stall and private bath houses including handicap access. A private [stocked] lake that toured welcome to fish, without needing a license. They have lots of permanent campers here, who pay their lot rent and have their own electric meter. In a standard RV site all amenities are included, water hookup, sewer, electric with 110, 30 and 50 amp hookups, cable and wifi! As well as little cabins for rent. Also horse stables and storage if you stay longer!

    Wiley Roost RV Park

    Camping under Old Oak Trees

Ashley here with The Dyrt. We're so happy to have this campground on our platform. With level sites, plenty of trees, and 30 or 50 amp hook-ups, this is a great place to get away from it all. Enjoy your food outside at the picnic table and roast some marshmallows in the community fire-pit. Check them out and leave them some love!

    Scenic Mountain RV Park

    Wonderful private RV park

Traveling across Georgia from NC to visit family in MO, we thought we would stay overnight at a state park. Well GA in all is wisdom has the asinine rule that you must stay two nights even if the park is virtually empty so we were left scrambling to find a nice place to camp. Scenic Mountain is a little gem. A little off the beaten track but easy to find, great roads, super friendly staff, facilities for dogs, and even some short walking trails in the woods. Level sites, fire pits and a nice club house.

    Sanwar RV Resort

    Exciting progress underway

Stumbled upon this after a relatively close campground was unhelpful for long term. This is a fresh park, many upgrades coming this year. The park has done great at speration of in progress and current campsites to avoid noise and congestion. The 2 laundrys are clean and feature a shower house-full bath, the manager and receptionist are friendly and responsive to any questions you may have. Great local businesses in Sandersville and close to plenty of fishing opportunities and scenic drives.

4 County RV Park & Campground

    Excellent in every way.

We stayed here for five nights and boy do I wish we had planned to stay longer! Spacious sites, new and super clean facilities including bathrooms, showers and laundry… and the park sits on a man-made lake. There are also campfire rings and picnic tables. As far as“settings” go, 4 County RV Park is one of the most idyllic and peaceful we’ve encountered in our one year on the road. WiFi, electric, water, sewer, all were top notch. We met some very nice people here as well and the owners, Rebecca and Troy, could not have been nicer. It is obvious they take great pride in their property and they really care that everyone has a good stay. We were 30 minutes from Macon so it was easy to hop on Hwy 16 to get there and enjoy what Macon has to offer. We would come back to 4 County in a heartbeat and hope to one day.

The area experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly reaching 90°F and mild winters that rarely drop below freezing. Most campgrounds remain open year-round with seasonal variations in visitor numbers corresponding to local events and agricultural seasons.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: The stocked pond at Scenic Mountain RV Park provides convenient fishing without requiring a state license. "First trip with new camper, great lil hidden gem in the middle of Georgia! very nice pool and playground and tons of fishing," notes Laura F.

Local museums: The aviation museum near Perry makes for an educational day trip from nearby campgrounds. According to Luke A. at Fair Harbor RV Park, "Stayed here mostly to visit Rigby's and the aviation museum. My girlfriend loved the horses - different ones are coming and going frequently."

Hiking trails: Several campgrounds maintain short walking paths for light exercise. Nicole M. reports, "Scenic Mountain is a little gem. A little off the beaten track but easy to find, great roads, super friendly staff, facilities for dogs, and even some short walking trails in the woods."

What campers like

Farm animal interactions: The agricultural setting of Two Horse Wagon RV Park offers unique animal encounters. Andrew shares, "This is country camping; with goats and cows right next to you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay after a problem filled travel day."

Clean facilities: Campground bathrooms and common areas receive consistent praise for maintenance. "Clean and beautifully maintained facilities and grounds," mentions Laurie K. about Scenic Mountain RV Park.

Convenience store access: On-site shopping options eliminate trips to town. "They have a little convenience store with camping gear you may have forgotten (or didn't know you needed!), souvenirs, food, and other essentials," notes Danna D. about Fair Harbor.

What you should know

WiFi limitations: Internet connectivity varies significantly between parks. One reviewer at Fair Harbor noted technical restrictions: "WiFi here is so-so and you often get booted off. Once we got there we learned we were capped at 1 GB per day. You can buy more for $15."

Site privacy considerations: Some parks feature more exposed layouts. Shelly S. observes about Scenic Mountain: "The sites are good sized but not a lot of privacy. Sorta like a nice parking lot with grass and trees."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Multiple parks provide dedicated children's areas. Grant J. describes Scenic Mountain: "We were on our own little adventure to see ghosts! Tips from RVers

Ground stability: Some sites require additional support for leveling equipment. Kevin T. at Honeysuckle Farm RV Park advises, "The sites are quite large but mainly grass or curshed rock so jacks will sink into the ground if not given additional support."

Site selection for noise control: Placement within parks affects traffic noise exposure. One camper at Fair Harbor mentioned, "As others have said, the sites are a little close together and there's some traffic noise, but neither bothered me very much - I was real close to the road too, so not that bad at all."

Extended stay considerations: Several parks accommodate longer-term visitors. Vince L. at Sanwar RV Resort shares, "Stumbled upon this after a relatively close campground was unhelpful for long term. This is a fresh park, many upgrades coming this year."
