Water

Got a last minute site next to the water. The peninsula we were on was tight turnaround for any big rig. Bathhouse was nice!

Great Dispersed Camping with Water Views

A nit, but you know it going in if you use Dyrt, but no full hookups. However, proper planning results in long water views, clean, mostly level sites. Site 25 is ~-2 degrees to rear from Level. Friendly staff with clean dispersed sites. Great views!!!

ATT cell service, nice folks, roomy

Recommended by our HVAC technician (fellow camper). Some really nice lake sites. Lake was great for a swim. Sites very well kept. Water seemed to have a very slightly brownish tint even after the new filter??? Bathrooms were dated, but clean. Great laundry, but expensive at $2 per load for wash or dry and would only take quarters. We liked this Dames Ferry park the best out of the three, Dames, Indian Springs and High Falls.

Great place!

This was my first time camping as an adult with my 8 year old child. We LOVED it here. There is a playground and super clean bathrooms and a laundry area. I am pretty sure you can access the lake at almost every site. We stayed at site 25 and it was perfect for us as tent campers. (I had to go buy tent stakes because of gravel but that's my fault I had no idea about needing different stakes for different grounds sorry newbie issue) The lake is GORGEOUS and super clear. I could stay at any site and probably would be perfectly happy. Its such a gem!

Beautiful view of blue water lake

We were not expecting the water to be so clear and blue! We stayed in site 16 just feet from the water. The park is small and well maintained. There Is a 25hp restriction on the lake so no loud motorboats, making it very peaceful for campers. We kayaked and chilled at our site by the water for 5 nights. A true r&r get away. We had full connectivity using Verizon and cable is provided for tv. Hopefully the paddle boats and kayaks they provide will be available now that covid restrictions are looser. There is some road noise and some sites that are closer to highway 23 we’re very loud. I would have been extremely disappointed if I were in those sites. We would definitely return to site 16.

Amazing views and pure relaxation

We had camp site 19 and the views we amazing of the lake. Waking up opening the blinds to see the lake and ducks swimming around we’re just what we were looking for. It’s a bit of a hill to the lake but worth it. The showers were private and very clean, but the dump station DOES NOT empty your tanks because of the angle you have to stop at. Other than that, it was amazing!!!!

Great Lake front sites

Nice small campground. Very well maintained. Site18 was great for us and boat and 2 dogs. Most sites were large with plenty of space. Water and electricity but no sewer. Have dump station. Nice areas between site and lake. Cell signal was good for Verizon and AT&T was good to stream video. Bathrooms very clean and lots of shower room. They do have a playground as well. The boat ramp was easy to get to for our small fishing boat. Launched my kayak right from the site. Great sunsets. The 3,600 acre Lake Juliette was nice. It was calm most mornings but usually a little windy in afternoon. The GP power plant is close by. There is some road noise at some sites since it is just off the road. Would not like a few of the sites due to that. Maybe not so bad in summer with leaves on the trees. Paul and Sue were very nice camp hosts and informative about the area. Had a great time. Looking forward to coming back in warmer weather and the fish are biting. Gave 4 stars due to road noise only. May not bother most people.

Great Park!!

We stayed in site #16. I gave it 4 stars just because of the road noise

Pros:

  • Spectacular view of the lake
  • Clean bathhouse
  • Site is partially fenced and the pad is level.
  • Very friendly host
  • Not far from hiking trails in
  • Cell phone service (spotty in the campground. 4+ bars on the site with t-mobile)
  • Plenty of room for chairs, gear and a fence for the dogs
  • Firepit down by the lake
  • Easy to get kayaks into the water
  • 20 minutes from major retailers (Lowes, Walmart, etc.)

Cons :

  • Not a lot of shade covering our site
  • Road noise as others have stated. Not a deal breaker. There are grooves on the shoulder of the road and when you drive over them it makes an annoying sound
  • Site is closer to others than I care to be
  • Quiet, but it's winter. I imagine it's more active in the summer
  • I'm not sure about the quality of the water. There is a GA Power plant close by and I read an article about possible contamination from the smoke stacks. Do your research.

Overall we had a great experience and we would definitely come back again. Many of the sites are on the lake and I haven't seen one I would not stay in. They do have some construction going on near the dump station. Whatever they're doing they're quiet about it.

Great small campground.

This is a great small campground. We stayed here one night as a half way point. Site #9. I loved our site. Great view of water. This camp is right on lake. Most sites are waterfront. Site #9 had no shade but it was spring time so not bad. The wind was pretty strong coming off the lake that we didn't put out our awning or get to have a fire. many pull through sites, bathhouse was clean. Well kept camp. Lake was busy with kayakers and boaters. There is a day use area with boat ramp. Not much around area but could spend a few days here on water or fishing.

Relax and Kick back

Beautiful park, close to the road, but private enough to relax. Drop your kayak in from a waterfront site an enjoy Lake Juliette, popular for Bass fishing. Or set your hammocks up and enjoy the breeze and view of the trees. We paid for a premium site and had more area than others, totally worth it. If you have a buddy, it has a site next to it that you can enjoy time with. The only downfall is there isn't much more than a lake and campground. You can drive to High Falls (and you should) for a wonderful hike.

Lake views but...

Beautiful views, but many of the sites on the far loop are full sun. We stayed at site 26. The view was beautiful, the sun was pretty rough until it went down, that spot is particularly sunny. The road noice in the far loop is horrible, all night long!! I didn’t realize it was so close to the road! There are 18 wheelers for the nearby rock plant that run at all hours and they are loud!! Also there’s a train, not a once in a while train with horns, like all night long coming and going. This park has a magnificent lake and if you stay there stay close to the front of the park. I think this would have been a better option with the noise. If you and your kids are light sleepers, this might not be the location for you. The bathroom is also very far away from the far loop.

Excellent lake side camping

With under 30 RV spots with 30/50amp, and water hookups. This State Park Campground was awesome. 90% of the spots are right on the beautiful crystal clear lake. We launched our kayaks and swam from our sight so easy and convenient. Quite, relaxing and secluded the lake is situated with in the forest with no homes near or around the water we visited in the summer and can’t wait to go back in the fall when the leaves start to change. Clean and well maintained.
